Would you swap Mbappe for Martial + cash?

No thank you, keep martial and break the bank for Mbape. Would be great to have a front three of those two and Lukaku.

They would want more than that.
Martial is potentially World Class. Mbappe is basically guaranteed to be if he's not already. I'd honestly rather play someone like Chong from within the youth team and keep Martial.

Bizarre perspective.

Our club, like all except PSG and City perhaps, works with a finite amount of resources.

I am confident to predict that our annual transfer budgets for the next 5 years wouldn’t allow us to buy one Mbappe a season.

With this in mind, I think it’s sensible for fans to discuss how we are deploying our limited finances.

If United are spending £200m on one player then I absolutely agree with you. That's the sort of thing that would completely mess up the value in the market.

I'm more towards the "I'd have him, but not for £30m" crowd. Probably would have ended up a bargain for Perisic last Summer.

No no no, I'd only take players of that level for £26.81m and not a cent more. Otherwise we'll be getting fleeced and it would be typical of us to spend so unwisely :D

I have no idea how some fans can come to such accurate assessments of players despite having zero experience in the business of negotiating transfers. The club were not willing to spend the reported £50m on him, and that's good enough for me. They know better than me how to value players.

Many fans look no further than the headline transfer fee plus the reported salary.
Is the fee £ or €?
How long is the contract and the amortized value per year?
Agents fees, bonuses, sell on, buy back clauses? Transfer inflation? Settling in periods? Age? Lifestyle? Long distance international fixtures?
All play a part in a players value.

I think there are a few players that are now worth £200m. Kane, Mbappe and Neymar come to mind. I would be happy to see us blow that kind of figure on any of them and I think it would prove to be value.

Anyone disputing this is just not keeping up with football finances in 2018.

Mbappe’s end product is better? His just the younger model whilst actually not a greater dribbler however he’s more direct. I’d stick with our player. But if Martial is dead set on Leaving yeah let’s do it.

He’d still frustrate Mourinho and the fans however because he’s far from the end product the football world will have you believe.

:wenger:

How many goals did Martial score compared to Mbappe last seasons. I stick by my end product. Don’t air me out because Mbappe’s playing good.
Marouane Fellaini has more goals than Both Hazard and KDB for Belgium. He does have better end product compared , although it doesn't mean he is the better player. Same goes with Martial vs Mbappe, no matter how many goals they have scored mbappe is still 5x the player martial is.

Well if my conversation was about end product then I don’t get why your example is relevant to me? You might find Fellaini has been an international player for a longer period than them both and they are hardly all similar players are they? So go away!

I would trade all of them bar Pogba and De Gea for Mbappe.

Start off the season with

Mbappe
Pogba
Mourinho
De Gea

Ridiculously talented spine of the team.

The guy is pure class.

But I think he is unattainable for United. Too much competition as he’s likely going to be top 3 in the world for a long time.

We don’t sign players in that bracket.

His impact this tournament reminds me a bit of Rooney's burst onto the scene at the Euros. Except Mbappe hasn't broken his foot and might damn well win the thing. Mostly its just how he has given this team a spark they lacked early, certainly the first match.

Yes × 1000

Martial seems to be a player for the future but then, so is Mbappe. The difference is that at the moment Mbappe is doing so much more. And he plays on the right really well! A dream signing!

Mbappe is an amazing player. He produces performances better than Lukaku at the age of 25 who can go missing when needed. That's absolutely crazy - already professional & can be counted on for that extra bit of ability rather than needing the whole team to be built around him for 'supply'.

Would keep Martial & Partner him upfront with Mbappe - would rip defenders a new one.

Lukaku for Mbappe anyone? Hell I think pSG would rather go for martial than Lukaku tbh - it's just not the 1990's anymore & they have already surpassed the building around a central striker ethos when they got rid of zlatan.

Mbappe already "carried" (let's say he was one of their key players) Monaco to the CL SF a year ago, while Rooney only played domestically at that point though IIRC.

To be fair, after this World Cup, I think Tony will be spitting blood having watched his compatriots excelling in the tournament!
