Doesn't say anything about your loyalty to Utd. Surely every Utd fan must have been hoping Rashford or Lingard banged in a 90th minute winner though.

I attempted to give a reason as to why one might not like a nation's football team. I never said it was rational. As for holding it against England in particular I suppose it depends on which colony you are from. An Indonesian or Congolese football fan might not look so favorably upon Netherlands and Belgium doing too well but wouldn't care so much about England.

Sporting rivalry is all about such pettiness though. Why else do Englishmen and Australians get so riled up about the ashes?

I actually didn't mind who went through tonight. I wanted Rashford to either score the winner or equalize. When United players are playing I always want them to do well but at the end of the day, if they get put out, I can personally still laugh about and troll few of my mates about it. That's what's football is all about. Happens to all of us, at one point or another.
 
I'm sorry but England really stopped playing after they scored the goal. Really don't deserved to be in the final. i'm really dissapointed

You're largely dealing with fans of countries who either didn't make it as far as England or didn't make the world cup at all, yet this is the best you can clap back with? :lol:

They were hardly bad at it. And the entire gameplan would have gone to shit if you had put Smalling there. I mean, the only plan England had was pass the ball between defense and midfield and score from corners/free kicks/penalties. Put Smalling instead of Walker there and half of the plan is ruined. Probably it would have ended like campaign of 2014 when players were shoehorned based on reputation.
 
The crushing reality that you're England and that's about as good as it can get on the international stage... is coming home.

I know. That's the thing teams like Liverpool and United have a lot Irish roots etc. I wouldn't find too many supporting England in part of Ireland where I live, though all you see is United and Liverpool.

I don't think anyone really knows what an easy run and a difficult run is at this world cup. Considering the performances of some of the typical big guns.

Either way England of the last 10+ years would have make hard work of that group (at best) and lost comfortably to Columbia.

Well it was an easy run, for a run to a WC Semi. Imagine offering that to an England fan before the tournament started. Despite some of the bare faced lies on here, they would have bitten your hand off.
 
Why do people take 'It's coming home' so seriously anyway? It's just a silly, catchy song about hoping for the best, despite regularly being disappointed.
