Sports wise at national level yes. Otherwise thankfully only a few idiots truly hate England these days. Ask English fans how they feel about our Rugby team. All just friendly banter all in all.

No, Syria is a beautiful country and we're in a much better place socially, financially, politicially. We also don't have Southgate as a manager. Happy enough with that.

The great thing about sport is that it defies conflict and politics, see Germany vs England throughout the last 100 years - really poor form from you to bring this into the equation- argument.
Clearly any commments on here are football related, and obviously Syria would love love to be in a World Cup Semi Final. In a similar way, I would love the England team be in a World Cup Final.

Harsh .. but fair. I said before the game that it would be interesting to see England's passing from the back tested against a team with forwards who had energy and would press relentlessly, and it turned out that they weren't up to it. I'm not sure if that's down to a lack of genuine quality though, or a simple case of Maguire, Pickford and Stones being inexperienced at international level and the nerves getting to them. I do think they're players who want to play out from the back, but an occasion like this can get to players and make them panic, hence the hoofball. Walker was also out of position and has always been good for an error/lack of concentration.

Of course sport brings countries together, even for a short period of time. This year we had a joint Korean Hockey team at the Olympia.
For me one of the funniest things about this world cup, involving England, is how much opposing fans think/thought the whole 'it's coming home' thing was a geuine and wholly an expectation.
It's embarrassing that I even have to explain myself on behalf of a whole nation. Yes, some novice football fans believed we had it on a plate but truthfully alot of us knew how one dimensional we are.
