And can people please shut up about that fecking song, it's been done to death on here now and is getting even more annoying then the drunk twats signing it in the pub.
On the match thread last night, there were plenty. Many others in the previous days. How many are actually doing that? Serious question as i've lost track with who's taking the piss and who is serious.
Anyone that does is indeed a twat. I'd rather people engage brains and realise it's a tiny amount though and not really a stick to beat the English with. Most of us couldn't give a flying feck, in fact I'd strongly argue that it really doesn't matter where you are from a fellow United fan is a fellow united fan and only the most small minded people would think otherwise. As for supporting England, I barely have myself over the past few years and if this campaign has done anything well, it's make me interested in the NT again. I don't expect a single person who isn't English to support us though, that's bizarre.
Don't think any one has actually said that, it's more to do with not understanding why British people, supporting Man United (an English club) were actively wanting England to fail and in the process branding England fans as arrogant for being optimistic and enjoying watching their national team for the first time in god knows how long. The funniest thing of this all is Englishmen demanding people from other nationalities that they should support England, or at least be neutral, cause otherwise you're a prick, a cnut and not a United fan. That is very self-righteous and if nothing else, makes people actually rooting against England and throwing it in your face.

Demanding others support England, or just reacting badly to the ribbing? Demanding seems like a strong word, but then I wasn't there so I trust you to be fair.
If so, then yeah those guys are morons to put it mildly![]()
To be fair the poster apologized.
Just shows how jealous the rest of the UK are really. Anyway we just have to suck it up, it'll make it all the more sweeter when we truly get some success.
I feel if we show the warmth / patience that we have with England this summer, it'll only get better and better.
So it was one guy?
Two notions that really annoy me and have been brought up by various posters:
1) Your place of birth/nationality determines the national team you have to support. Utter nonsense. No-one makes that argument when it comes to club football.
2) If you support a team from a certain country you also have support its national team. Nonsense again. If players from the team I support play for a national team I don't like, then I want them to fail miserably.
There were literally posts like 'If you're not a Croatian and don't support England tonight, then you're not a true United fan'. That is demanding people from other nationalities to support England.Demanding others support England, or just reacting badly to the ribbing? Go in the thread from last night (even in this one after the match) and you'll see those posts.Don't think any one has actually said that, it's more to do with not understanding why British people, supporting Man United (an English club) were actively wanting England to fail and in the process branding England fans as arrogant for being optimistic and enjoying watching their national team for the first time in god knows how long.
Also there's the United players element. Cheering Croatia (no connection to united whatsoever) over England (with Rashford, Lingard, Young etc) to me makes no sense, especially when so many want France to win purely because of Pogba.
3 or 4 (I think more) were more aggressive, and there were plenty of others who were claiming all along how it is impossible for them to understand how you can root against England if you're a United fan. Not exactly the same, but passive-aggressiveness pisses me even more than just being a cnut.I'm pretty sure that others said the same thing, but it's not more than 3 or 4 posters.
Wait, the none of the English fans singing 'its coming home' actually meant it and it was all tongue in cheek? I feel bad for you guys but sorry thats a flat out lie.it was fecking unbearable and this is coming from someone who wouldn't have given a feck if you guys even won the thing

Exactly. How many more times does it need to be said. Its a song written over 20 years ago by a couple of comedians largely about the England national team always coming up short, of course its a piss take. If you don't understand that after being told repeatedly over the last month then thats on you. Sure the odd dick head might have been saying it in all seriousness but 99% off fans were taking the piss.
As to how anyone could accuse english fans of being arrogant well thats just beyond me, every single person expected us to fail miserably at this world cup and if you had seriously said they would have got as far as the semi-final weeks ago you would have been laughed at.
Don’t get your first point - why bother with international football if you just pick some random team to support? Unless you are referring to having some favourite second team.

Don't actually like the song, prefer World in Motion. And can people please shut up about that fecking song, it's been done to death on here now and is getting even more annoying then the drunk twats signing it in the pub.
I think with club football its different due to the massive global reach. But I can't really fathom just choosing an international team. Would feel very hollow.
What's been proven this world cup is, no matter how many times English people will explain things in a very rational and calm manner, it makes feck all difference. If people want to laugh and mock, look like idiots in the process, they'll do just that.
Hopefully this team should improve if it is done right. What's been proven this world cup is, no matter how many times English people will explain things in a very rational and calm manner, it makes feck all difference. When I saw 'Let's all laugh at (insert country name)' threads here, I know England one will be messy.

Fair enough, and people have all sorts of reasons for supporting who they do, at club and international level. The idea of unity within the United Kingdom is basically gone, though personally I would always cheer Ireland, Scotland or Wales. I can understand people being neutral but it's the active dislike that comes across as bitter. There were literally posts like 'If you're not a Croatian and don't support England tonight, then you're not a true United fan'. About bold point, I really disagree with you. I mean, if you weren't Englishmen, should you have supported England or Belgium in a potential final, with both teams having 2 starters coming from United? If you like Lukaku more (the only player who is very important for United from all of them), Belgium I guess. Or just support whatever team you like which is what most people do.
Ireland aren't in the UK m8.Fair enough, and people have all sorts of reasons for supporting who they do, at club and international level. The idea of unity within the United Kingdom is basically gone, though personally I would always cheer Ireland, Scotland or Wales. To those United fans who rejoiced in England going out, think about how gutted Sir Bobby will have been last night.
Football is more enjoyable if you support some team and root against some other team. People who come from countries which don't qualify, have to get some team to support.I think with club football its different due to the massive global reach. People feel gutted all the time when their country loses. Tough luck!Fair enough, and people have all sorts of reasons for supporting who they do, at club and international level. There was maybe 3 or 4 being weirdly passive aggressive about it. It was pretty funny because for all the talk of meltdowns they seemed to be the only ones really getting bent out of shape. Not that many of them, but they stood out when everyone else was more or less taking the banter on the chin.So it was one guy?
I think most people know that for the most part the vast majority of English fans are being ironic. There is an element of arrogance in the English media though as you know and after a while it gets hard to separate it all. Especially for the rest of the UK when all our World Cup coverage comes in with an England slant on it as we get the same BBC and ITV coverage as you do.If you are not English, the it's coming home can be interpreted as arrogance. I don't understand why people fail to get that. We sang it in irony but it's naive to expect other countries to get the irony.
It was a joke mate. I also disagree with the idea of other British countries being 'foreign' to England. Don't know where you are from but if you aren't British, theres no way you could be expected to support England imo.So your point is? Is every United supporters be it foreigner or Englishmen should support England because of Sir Bobby?![]()

It's quite obvious to see who is just having a laugh and joke, thats cool to me, and then who seem to genuinely have a deep rooted dislike for England and the English, and its clear there's plenty on here.
