Plus, one can’t compare the current Republican Party to that of Lincoln’s time due to switch in platforms between the two parties that occurred in the late 1800s.
What he's conveniently omitting is that the numbers are also high because the Republican party itself is shrinking. As moderates jump off the ship, its bound to make Trump's internal GOP numbers go higher, despite the fact that the party itself is smaller and generally withering.
