Fantasy Premier League 18/19

My final team:

McCarthy
Mendy-Shaw-Robertson
Jota-Salah-B.Silva-Mané
Zaha-Aguero-Tosun

Subs: Fabianski/Foster, Peltier, Wan-Bissaka, Hudson-Odoi.

I'm very pleased. May look to bring in Bellerin and Mkhi instead of Shaw/B.Silva depending on how things turn out by GW3.

How's mine?

Hart (lol)

Mee
Alexander Arnold
Laporte
Bellarin

Sanchez
Salah
Jota
Sessengon

Augero
Firminho.

Subs is trash bar Kante who will play.

I personally see more potential in Holebas than Doherty - Watford doesn't concede much under their new manager, and he has a lot of crosses. I think you'd have the same attacking output with Trent as with Robertson, which could free up 1 mil to get Ederson.

Why Fabianski? How many points do you estimate he'll get with his tough opening programme?

Fabianski for me is a pick for the entire season, I think he’s the outstanding keeper at 4.5m and idea would be to rotate with the second 4.5

Keepers get points for making saves so against the bigger teams where West Ham are being peppered with shots I’d expect Fabianski to make a fair few saves (he’s a great shot stopper imo). In the one or two instances where West Ham sneak a 0-0 against a good team Fabianski is one of the most likely keepers in the game to end up on 11 or so points, as he tends to make a lot saves.

For the prices you can get, I'd switch B.Silva for Mkhi and upgrade Bailly for a top wing back with the money saved.

Nice team though.

I wasnt done after all. God i hate this game. Now it looks like this:

Pickford
Van Dijk - Mendy - Doherty
Salah - Mané - Mahrez - Richarlison - Cairney
Aguero - Zaha

But he'll have to make 9 saves to get just 4 points alltogether against Liverpool, right? (Im thinking they'll lose anyhow) - Isn't it a bit more risky than just taking Ederson, get 25-31 points for the first 7 weeks compared to maybe 15-40 points?

I'm thinking there's some math behind this :D Would be nice to see if you'd done some calculations - It sounds like a smart move if it works out

Luiz and Shaw will probably not play much, and definitely not score many points. Jota and Murphy highly variable I would assume too, Bernardo will be benched a lot - even though he’s good. You’re missing a midfielder here, and those defenders are not going to help you.
Not about long term here, I understand the risk with a few especially Shaw & Bilva, but these are likely to start the season unlike others, that's my only aim.

Very similar to mine

Are you gonna start Fabianski against Liverpool? I'm confused as to your plan because it sounds like you're advocating leaving him in against the top sides to score bonus points (and pray for a nil nil) but you've also said that you'll rotate with another £4.5m gk. When would you rotate him?

I’ll have a proper look tonight but the proof is in prior seasons where end point totals show that it’s often not worth going for a premium goalkeeper - they tend to get more clean sheets, but they also make less saves and get less bonus points. It’s rare that Ederson would ever get more than 7/8 points, as City aren’t peppered with shots and then for bonus points they’re much more likely to go to Aguero, Silva etc.

Someone like Fabianski (or Pope, Heaton, Butland in prior seasons) can expect a couple of 11 points games across a season. Obviously you need to pick the right ones but Fabianski is a sure thing for me.

I’d obviously play the other 4.5m if they have a better fixture. I’m just saying that for keepers such as Fabianski it’s not a complete disaster when they play the better teams, as they rack up save points.

Finally set a team. Went with a different starting line-up than most of you investing in defence.

Ederson (Fabianski)
Bellerin Alexander-Arnold Azpilicueta Trippier (J. Schlupp)
A. Sanchez David Silva Richarlison (Jorginho, D. Stephens)
S. Aguero R. Firmino Tosun

What do you guys think? Midfield too weak?

Nah, standard pricing for a Top 6 keeper. Chelsea defence is on a par historically with Spurs, Liverpool, City. De Gea is the outlier because he frequently wins us games on his own.
I guess the keepers pricing is more in line with the strength of their defence rather than actual skill!

Richarlison, Sessegnon or Jota?
all 6.5 each.

Flip a coin between the bolded ones. Been struggling to decide for weeks, currently on Jota.

Zaha, Tosun, Arnautovic or King?

I'm on King. Saves .5 over Zaha/Arnie, cracking first fixture and has been in good pre season form.

My team for now. Kovacic will likely be swapped out asap when I have time to look again.

Is it just me that thinks it's ridiculous that Kepa is 5.5m?

Probably based on Chelsea's defenders scoring highly last season. They need to keep it balanced where possible (so some players seemingly expensive) or everyone could end up with the same players.

I’m also currently on King. Scored twice last game when they trashed Marseille 5-2 (Marseille played with their best team and were only missing Mandanda and Rami). Bournemouth must be full of confidence right now and they’re up against arguably the weakest side in the league.

I heard he was a definite starter

Allright, changed again and would like some feedback this time as well;

Ederson
Darmian - VVD - Rüdiger
Salah - Neves - Sanchez - Cairney
King - Agüero - Firmino
All my players in midfield should be one of their first penalty and freekick takers, and with VVD and Rüdiger I should be able to get some clean sheets as well as goal threats at corners.

Need some opinions and suggests!

Ederson

Maguire
Bellerin
Alexander A

Salah
Eriksen
Pogba
KDB
Kante

Zaha
Firminho

Will look at chopping and changing over first few weeks. Kane, lukaku and maybe Sanchez in mind. KBD and eriksen one of them may get the boot for one or above to come in.

Need some advice please - alot riding on this.

Hard to know who takes Wolves pens. Looks like they share the around. Neves missed the last one btw. Pretty awful pen it was too. Aside from him and Darmian I quite like that side.

Question marks over the bolded 4 starting the first game. TAA is 50/50 but the others under 50% imo. Has Ederson even played in pre-season come to think of it?

Neves only had a few goals and assists last year. He’s playing too deep to be a good fantasy pick imo. Rüdiger is risky, he’s not a certain starter. Otherwise it looks good.

Alright, didn't know that about Neves. It's either him or Kante (who should play every single game, in a more advanced position as well now with Jorginho as the DM). Darmian is only there because he should play pretty much the first games with him being able to play on both flanks. And if I'm lucky he might be able to find someone whit his crosses.

Just in case anyone was going to put Fabinho in, he's looking likely to be injured for Sunday.

Yeah I was aware of them 4 being a doubt. Difficult as alot of the key FPL players made it fairly deep in the WC and also everything being pushed a week forward.

Thanks for the advice will look at shuffling about.

Just assumed ederson would start and has started and played preseason. Will have to check that one.

Nice team if Pogba delivers. Bit different. But a lot of players out for the beginning, as already pointed out.

Another question why aren't people stocking up on City attackers?

I'm finding this thread more exciting than deadline day.

Thoughts on Aubameyang & B. Silva vs Aguero & Mhki for the opening few games? I fancy both Aubameyang & B. Silva to start well so I'm conflicted.
