Television Gotham - TV series

Well shit, this is one but last episode but they sure know how to make it count and build up the atmosphere. I think this is the best season up to now and Gotham's definitely better than most comic-based series broadcasted at the moment.

Indeed, hasn’t been renewed for another season yet either which would be madness if it isn’t.

Yup, believe they'll renew it, but if they don't, Gotham could be and should be perceived as a damn good job, perhaps it'd be better to even stop it now rather than drag with bullshit like Arrow has for example.

For a moment I thought Alfred had really lost it.

Jeremiah is a maniacal genius, but so far I don't find he has the same presence/appeal that Jerome did. That ending though was quite cold blooded!

I do hope they renew this, it's getting better each season.

Heard that the show is in the balance. Fox as taken a sledgehammer to their shows ,apparently to make way for NFL.

I rather enjoy Jeremiah. He's much more sociopathic, though, I'm partial to this kind of villain since he reminds me of guys like Ed Kemper. Intelligent, controlled, indifferent. It'll be an adjustment. A lot of folks here will perhaps just miss the unpredictable, psychopathic behaviour of Jerome. Jeremiah isn't fireworks, but if the write him correctly his character will have more depth.

Ordinarily I wouldn't think that Fox would can this show, however, they're dropping everything left, right and centre at the moment and viewership is everything. From what I understand, season 5 is sort of a reboot, so, it'd be disappointing if that weren't to happen. That being said, with Brooklyn nine nine being picked up a day after Fox cancelled it, I'm confident there'd be a big petition for it to be picked up elsewhere.

Yeah think they got rid of Lucifer and Brooklyn 99 to clear space for 1 extra game or something. Brooklyn 99 picked up be someone else tho.

Just that ending, it was a bit of a shocker, can’t wait for the finale next week. The trailer for it looks intresting.

13 more episodes takes it to 100 which makes it eligible for syndication, so hopefully it can go beyond season 5.

Good news on season 5 even though it will be the last. Even if it had got cancelled i'm sure someone else would have snapped it up .As long as it was not CW

Going to put this out here as a guess.

After all the i’ll Be there for you Bruce stuff Selina has laid on recently I bet the little fecker Bruce is going to run out on her in hospital or something to get involved with Raas.

That ending... if the show had ended there I probably could have lived with that. Gotham is now the Gotham we know from the comics, a madhouse.
Looking forward to next season even more now after seeing that, they’ve tee’d up next season well.

Who was the kid with the axe and mask? Can’t remember anyone from the comics with that.

Good point. Its got to a stage where I want it to keep on going but it does feel like the show could end here and be remembered as one of the best in its genre.

Brilliant ending for a show that never ceases to amaze.

Excellent finale, can't wait until next year!!

Appreciating Jeremiah more as I get used to his character. Has a Hannibal Lecter vibe to him.

Looks like next season is going to be all out war - feels like Arkham City!!

Yeah growing to appreciate him more. That Hanibal comparison is spot on.

I know I mentioned this a few months ago but kinda feel like it now needs a time hop and depending on how much the actors that play Cat and Bruce change over the hiatus maybe throw in some older actors. Still finding it hard to beleive that a 16/17 yr old is out kicking that much ass. Think those two have been brilliant, I just feel like the story is at a point where he has to be a 20 Something filled out dude if he’s going to fight what is out there.

The way it ended you feel like that is it, now they need Batman.

Had the last three episodes saved up and watched them all in one go.

Simply outstanding. My three favourite eps of the show to date.

The best superhero show of all time, no competition.

I agree - but I don't think it'll happen. Apparently the producers/DC/Warner won't let them use 'Joker' which is why they're going with Jerome/Jeremiah. They might have the same reservation with Bruce actually becoming & being referred to as Batman. Save the best 2 characters for the films rather than TV.

It’s annoying as this show beats their shitty Justice League & BvS films.

I gave up after season 1 - I didn't rate it much at all. But there's a lot of positive comments on here, enough that I double checked what thread I was on.
So does Gotham pick up substantially after Season 1? Or if I didn't like the first season will I feel the same about the rest of it?

Season 1 is the weakest by far but it pretty much goes from strength to strength after that. I'd definitely give it another crack if I were you.

It's more that the show underwent a change in story-telling. The first season was very much a "villain of the week" one with a very thin season story arc. Second season onwards was the introduction of season long story arcs and greater character development overall. It's fair to say that you're the fortunate one as you've got all that good TV ahead of you!

I'll give it another go then. Thanks.

Bit of a big bump. Finally caught up to this recently. Binge watching the last 5-6 episodes was so much fun. Didnt want it to stop. This show was seen as a joke from s1 but its become one of the best shows (not just comic based, but actual shows) for me.

The first season was purely a boss-of-the-week format. From second season onwards they introduced story and character mid-season and full-season arcs. Best thing they ever did. Superb tv.

I kinda get what youre saying in terms of a jump (I think). Kinda like a few years time, maybe, Bruce has had more training, is older, you see Gotham completely wasted and maybe end of ep1 is where Bruce comes out as the Dark Knight?
Or would the season show him training with Ghul and end with the finale showing him get his cape hmmm.

Bit I think the actor and actress playing Selina and Bruce have done a great job.

Agreed, the arcs have been great. Focusing on the villains more so rather than everything Gordon also helped.
And the villains itself tightened up and were better.

It is fecking spectacular. When I started watching season 1 and two I sort of binged all things superhero, even shite like Arrow and Flash, but then the show just took off and truly became one of my favourite shows ever.

Been a while since I watched the finale so a little sketchy on the details but is this supposed to be the last season? More than likely him becoming the Dark Knight will be the final act, so maybe this next season would be him training and trying, learning, failing to deal with what is out there and we maybe get some sort of time hop at the very end much like Smallville.
I would have liked to have seen “full Batman” in Gotham but somehow I just don’t see how currently David Mazouz can put on the suit. Just imagine him, full suit and saying, “I’m Batman..” (that has to be read in full Bale voice)

Yeah s5 is meant to the be the last one it seems.
He will probably say 'Im the Dark Knight of Gotham' as the last line lol

For the new season I do wanna see full on anarchy in Gotham, with Bruce being absent (maybe training somewhere - following Raas - seeing its his destiny or something). Then coming back a changed person which Alfred accepts and then agrees to help to be the vigilante of the city (and saying if hes gonna do it, do it right and use the money (and Fox) as an advantage

BTW, Alfred is great.

On season 4. Loving it overall. Was looking for something to binge on for a while and it has been feeding the sofa monster in me to good effect. Funny the characters are very bad at dying lol.

Alfred and the actor playing him are amazing. Actually think he is the best Alfred I’ve seen. Total bad ass as well

I’ve seen some intresting pics that Erin Richards (Barb) put up.

Mad Max style motor with her on the back holding a Mounted turret gun, so the streets of Gotham might actually be total chaos.

Another thing I want to see and how they are going to bring it about.
How they intend to bring Barbara and Jim Gordon back together, at some point this has to happen so Batgirl/Oracle is born. Maybe they won’t bother with it and just skip over it and end without addressing it, but the way it is now I just can’t see any possible way those two would get back together and Jim forgives her for all she has done.

I’m hyped for this new season already now.

@RedFish season 4 might be the best season, probably has the best standout episode in it. Let them eat pie. It’s really good, I don’t know who directed that episode but there is a
movie worthy fight scene in it.
it’s not really a spoiler as such, it’s something that happens in pretty much every episode, just after the Agents of Shield issue, I take no chances now

@Andersons Dietician

IMO they should just avoid Gordon and Barbara getting together. GIven there are like 10 eps, there is not enough time to make sense as to why they would suddenly be together. And even with 10 eps, id rather they dont spend time on that.

Probably true. Unless the ye old whiskey one night stand or the Gotham equivelant where he be drugged and taken advantage of.

So in the UK this airs on E4 which is now at episode 19. Today the complete season 4 became available on Netflix. I wonder how E4 feel about this.

Just watching again and had forgotten how savage this season 4 was. Some of the effects for things or just the brutality, it’s been great.

Grundy ripping off the guys arms and beating him to death with them
SofiaFalcone smashing Lee’s hand with the hammer
Lee shooting Sofia smack bang in the middle of her forehead
When the hatter drops the wrecking ball on the bride and groom

Crystal Reed has been fantastic as well as Sofia Falcone, actually most of the casting in the show has been spot on all the way through.

You’ve got probably the best Alfred, the best Riddler, 2nd best Joker(not including Hamill) best Ivy, Penguin, Freeze it goes on and on.

Superb! This show started off pretty poor but has gotten really really good. Just finished season 4.
