The economics was referenced (and to be honest I had a figure of 20% in my head) as part of a whole.

The deep dive above with comparisons to Brexit isn't the point either.

While Leave voters may wish to have a more robust immigration policy, they would never vote en masse for;

- A pay or you're fcuked medical system
- Unlimited war
- University fees that destroy lives
- The death penalty
- Mass incarceration
- A regression of gay rights
- Anything that diluted gender equality
- Guns for everyone

It's easy enough to find people that vote republican that will endorse so much of that.

You can't possibly tell me that California, as a populace and as an economy, keeps America honest in this regard. If it was a bunch of hippies in the desert without any $ output, they would be ignored. I haven't been to every state. I'm sure that other states are progressive and liberal.

But lose California, the economic power, the electoral college votes that are owned by progressive people.... America would be a no-go zone inside a few decades.

It's this I was getting at. I probably got a bit ranty about it, admittedly.

Remove London from England or Paris from France and you don't see the same outcomes.

Oh, so you just a got bit ranty and made baseless statements. That's all right, I guess. Though, your baseless rant made me make a post discrediting that and it gave that other guy so much commotion. Not cool. Next time, please, have a disclaimer before you go "a bit ranty".

Again you don't know what you are talking about if you believe people are voting en masse for the things you listed.

- It's not pay or your're a fecked medical system. Medical is part of most people's jobs benefits. Not everyone has to pay for insurance through their pockets. Also, as I mentioned in the previous posts that universal medicare is voting very well.
- No one votes unlimited war. In fact one of the reason people voted for Trump is because he promised to get the US out of conflict areas and said he doesn't want them to be the world police.
-Who told you people are voting for higher University fees? Also, a lot of higher education gets government and private funding for research which subsidizes the cost.
- Do you know that US is a federal structure? Death penalty is legal is 31 of the 50 states (including California) but out of those 31, 15 haven't executed anyone in years. I don't know where you are getting your information about people voting "en masse" for death penalty.
- Gay marriage is legal in the United States. Even before it was made legal throughout the state, it was legal in states with majority of the US population.
- Don't know what you mean by the "diluted gender equality" one.
- 2 in 3 Americans believe in implementation of sensible gun control laws.

All in all you have talked nothing but total horseshit in your posts. An exaggerated and hysterical rant without any real basis made on various soundbites you have heard or read.

But it's ok, it's good to go a "bit ranty" from time to time.

Anyway, we have digressed from the topic. Let's go back to the theme of the thread.

I mean you're coming off a little bit stereotypical American here with the whole ''murica is the best country in the world, defend everything furiously' schtick but it's fairly easy to accept flaws in your country. It's quite clear that you're replying to a post about people who vote Republican, and they tend to oppose sensible gun laws, get angry with gay rights etc with the whole baker issue as a recent example and the fact that prior to the Supreme Court declaring that gay marriage was a constitutional right, all 14 of the states that had enacted constitutional or statutory bans and prohibited it were Republican states and they voted en masse for a man who actively opposes it. I believe the main point of the poster that you're replying to was that by voting en masse for a man who has so clearly set out his stance on those issues in a way that matches exactly what that poster described, that people can be said to be voting en masse for those issues.

Also the fact that medical is part of most peoples jobs benefits doesn't mean it's not pay of you're fecked. Somebody is still paying for that service, otherwise you're fecked. Not to mention those who don't have jobs and are denied decent healthcare, or those who have jobs where healthcare isn't provided. If you're lucky to have a job where it is included, it's still pay or you're fecked, it's just your company that are doing the paying.

 Fml. If that isnt the incoherent ramblings of an absolute lunatic, I honestly dont know what is. Also, Jester has a lovely way with words at times.

At the war against the fake news again.

I still wonder who actually came up with the idea to change the narrative on what fake news is, my money is still on Bannon since he seems to be the only one actually bright enough to come up with this. I first met the term fake news in regards to actual fake news on Facebook, where you know people started rumors, there was no proof for anything but through spreading those rumors to enough people it somehow became news.

Now the alt-right seems to have caught on to this pretty fast and started calling everything they didn't agree with fake news which Trump of course took to like a fat kid to candy. It's also kind of fantastic how a lot of these talking points seem to go from 4chan and alt-right talking heads, to Breitbart, then to FOX news and then directly into Trumps verbal diarrhea.

It's kinda frightening that the most outlandish conspiracy theories and right-wing memes will make it right to the president of the United States all through the help of FOX news who ultimately are responsible for giving these ideas access to a mainstream audience.

Don't even think it's the worst I've seen from him.
He's the most inarticulate person I've ever seen in any leadership position.

That can't be right?

Oh well, of course it can. It's been said countless times, but to think that about 40% of Americans still favor this guy speaks volumes.

I imagine school kids in some years reading about the era of Trump and laughing their asses off.

The discussion started with me replying to the hyperbole of the two statements below with some facts:

"America is simply a second tier nation by every metric other than how much money it has. It's a broken country."

"It's a disgusting country in so many ways. Remove California and it's also a pretty toothless one in terms of its level of importance to the world."

I replied to those outrageous statement with numbers that disapprove both.

No one is saying that America is without faults. In fact we'll need days to discuss it's flaws. Although that doesn't mean things are black and white. You should start from where the discussion started before making generalizations about me "coming off a little bit stereotypical American here with the whole ''murica is the best country in the world".

That poster portrayed America as some dystopian nightmare outside of California. Which is absolute and total horseshit. It shows lack of basic understanding of the country and it's structure. I did not make posts trying to defend America as the greatest country in the world. I merely pointed out to the absurdity of those claims.

As for the healthcare argument, I have already said that the system was not working and that is why Obamacare was a decent start, and Universal Health care is voting very high. I don't know where the poster got the idea the people are voting en masse to deny people healthcare. US is also at the forefront of medical innovation or research. It's by far the leading country. A balance needs to be found where the US doesn't lose it's edge in those areas.

They voted for Trump who ran on repealing ACA. They did this, for the most part, based on what they were told by Republicans and not understanding the implications and being generally uninformed. You had that famous screenshot of the person who said they hated Obamacare and wanted it gone, only to say a few comments later that they'd be ok when it was repealed because they themselves were covered under ACA.

This is representative of the people he was talking about, I'd imagine.
Some people hate Obamacare philosophically. They rail against the law because they don't think the government should force people to buy health insurance and penalize them if they don't.

Also, they view Medicaid expansion and subsidies for low- and moderate-income enrollees as yet another entitlement program that uses hard-working taxpayers' money to help lazy, undeserving people.

"It's a welfare program disguised as a health care program," said Charles Kraut, 67, a financial adviser who believes the smaller government is, the better."Please show me where in the Constitution it says that the government should "promote the general welfare" by stealing from half the population to give to the other half."

Mate, I would reply to you, but with my low post count I don't feel worthy of a discussion with a veteran like yourself.

Give me two months to make a 1000 odd posts and I'll get back to you.

A frightening combination of really stupid and age related mental degradation. Just what you need in a POTUS.

The funny thing is that they have invented the fake news. Now they are against them.

Yeah that's what I meant. They basically took a term that was coined to for something that right wing propaganda on the net managed to sell as news and turned it against all of the "mainstream" media. It's pretty ingenious when you think about it.

It works. See my post above about ACA etc.

Yeah it's not even really his invention, the GOP is doing that stuff for years now, create narratives like this and the term Obamacare is one of these things, so detached from reality that their voters don't even know what it really stands for anymore. Just keep repeating that it's evil and that you want to reverse it and all of your voters will agree to it. Even though I can distinctly remember that when the time came a lot of republicans were actually against repealing the ACA, at least those who understood what Obamacare really is.

It's almost like they can't reconcile their real life desires with the restrictions of their faith and fall into a massive cognitive dissonance loop.

“Disgraced and discredited Bob Mueller” - he’s ramping up the attacks.

Seems he’s also given up redoing tweets because he keeps getting ‘counsel’ wrong.

His tweets are a window of understanding what is troubling him the most at the moment, so its safe to say he is absolutely bricking it with the realization that each of the pieces are tidily falling into place against him.

I wouldn't say ingenious. It's 101 level. It just so happens that the majority of people are gullible idiots..

Yeah you are probably right that it's a 101 misinformation playbook move. I just think in terms of using it this way on the mainstream media is serving them two folds. Not only do they turn attention away from the fact that "facebook news" aren't real news but also hurt the established news sources out there which takes away a common ground on which to form opinions on. Granted it's nothing new since Murdoch and FOX news have been working towards this for decades now, it's still one of the most bizzar things for me that FOX can still claim not to be part of the establishment media and get away with it in the eyes of their viewers.

It's all the fake news, like, it's all of them, they all are out to like, get me, like Im this amazing president, you all love me like, and they, they are, they, they know this! They know! and it like scares them. They're scared, I'm a scary guy, I am, I once, I stood next to Obama, or little Barry as I call him, because, and you can, everyone you can see I'm much bigger. I'm a big guy, you know? And it's the fake news about crooked Hillary and the collusion, there's no collusion by the way, there's no, I mean, there is, but there isn't, you know? Like, we know crooked Hillary did, she did, ofcourse she did, all the dems are colluding with the fake news and it's, it's a great time to be alive, I mean, I'm the president, how lucky is that? And it's great, because, they're all coming back and the fire fighters they love me. they fought those fires for me, like, you know, my hair kinda looks like a fire, I'm a fiery guy.

And that's why the fake news they hate me, FAKE NEWS.

Did I do it right?
