Varchester City 18/19 discussion

They hit the bar/post 3 times, they'll be fine. Good to see them not winning though, was very sure that Kun was going to score. The earlier they lose the invincible mentality, the more chances the other teams will have.

Now go and destroy Spurs.

I don't see why that is even remotely a concern. Even if they lost today.

Too mucoh sensationalism everywhere. No, the press shouldn't be on their tails about a draw away to a Wolves team that played pretty damn well.

Agüero being a massive diving dirty bugger has gone under the radar the entire time he's been in England, probably because he's so bloody talented.
Not getting booked for that dive was beyond belief. Ridiculous

The lucky feckers would only land on a conveniently placed bouncy castle anyway so that that clearly wouldn't work.

What do you think would be a suitable punishment for these serial divers?

1, 2 or 3 match bans would be great. Yellow card or maybe a red card for diving. If a team has been punished a certain amount of times in a season for diving then points deduction at the start of the following season maybe. Something needs to be done to stop all this simulation anyway.

You don’t think city being countered as many times as they were today is even a small issue? Because they were caught a lot on the counter in the arsenal game too...

Argentinians are snakes by trade. The nightlife of Buenos Aires is the most shallow place on Earth, you can't trust a word anyone says. Unfortunately it's what pays my bills.
Shut up. I've spent a decent time in Buenos Aires and Cordoba and most Argentines I've met are very nice people. Your generalization of them is garbage and you know it (assuming you live there)

Most nightlifes in any country have the shallowest people on Earth. You're not saying anything profound just talking utter nonsense.

Feck off, Don't think I've ever said it. There must be a filter over there that changes the name or something. Don't think I've ever seen Mctid use it either.
That's a Wum post in a City forum if ever there was one. No way that was a legit goal and the guy is clearly on the wind up. He also forgets to mention the goal was clearly offside.
Everybody is on side.

When the corner is taken: no offside.

When the ball comes back to the guy for the cross: no offside because he moved with the defensive line.

When the guy crosses: no offside because the 2 players who went for the header were behind the last defender.

After that, he plays the header, and somehow it touches his arm. Yeah, it's unfortunate, but he did not do a Maradona or whatever. He put his header forward.

Honestly don’t give a feck. All I care is Shi*ty dropped points. Watched the match and Shi*ty arguable should have won because Kun hit the post and cross bar but Wolves played really well and took it to them in terms of pressing, aggressiveness and just sheer hustle. If only Mou had the balls to do that.

Except when the no.2 heads the ball onto Boly, Boly is offside.

Edit: no.2 not no.9

That is me writing. It wasn't a WUM post. By the letter of the law, its not deliberate, so why should it be disallowed? I didn't see the replay, if it was offside, then it should have been disallowed.

So what you're saying is the world is full of shallow people? Who knew.

It was indeed offside the no.2 did head the ball, there are angles that show it. The post might not have been a wum one as you obviously know your intentions better than me buddy but surely you can understand why it would be taken as so.

Imagine had I posted that here was it to happen Monday night, and then just replied with "show me the rulebook". There would be all kinds of comments about "common sense", Fwiw to the letter of the law you are correct but I'm sure VAR would have ruled it out for handball too despite the wording of the rules. Also I'm taking this thread off topic so I'll get on my bike before I get in trouble.

You know that we were one of two teams that won against them last year?

Obviously all of them are not snakes, but I've never been to a place with as many obnoxious, money-thieving compulsive liars as Buenos Aires and many local friends of mine agree, as well as almost everyone outside the capital. I've lived here for almost two years now and People from Buenos Aires are infamous in Argentina so it's not the whole country, and of course the clubbing scene has the worst of the worst.

I don't think it's a coincidence that we've had horrible luck with Argentinians and their mentality/loyalty (Heinze, Tevez, Di Maria) at United though. All cry-babies looking for a bigger paycheck no matter what.

If De Bruyne plays, they win that game. I wish we drew games like this. They were still the better team and hit the bar 3 times.

They hit the bar a whole 3 times, really? Wow, that is impressive. They deserve the 3 points on that basis alone

Why would they? If you've seen the game you could see they were the much better side and they simply weren't clinical enough today, had hit the bar 3 times

Yeah, they played well, and on another day would have won this comfortably despite being slightly off defensively.

Did you watch the game? They should have had a pen and a second disallowed goal. Add to that the fact they dominated as they usually do and were only caught out a couple of times on the break.

They need a good cattle prodding if you ask me. That usually works.

I'd be worried after a few more matches. This is a team that just beat more or less every record in the Premier League last season. So yes, it's bloody sensational.

Yes I remember Pogba playing a monster game after we had fallen behind and had no choice to open up. My point is let’s take it to them right from the off. Wolves played a very aggressive game but were very controlled and disciplined. Was pretty impressive.

He did. You beat them twice last season.

Yup, pretty much. That being said I'm actually amazed just how often City players managed to get their head on those crosses coming from Mendy, considering they're not that dominant in the air, especially their forward line.

Impressive ?

They had multiple opportunities to win that game by 4 or 5 and they would have had sterling brought his shooting boots.

I take the point that we won and the character on display to come back like that was amazing, but to describe our performance and tactics as controller, disciplined and impressive is a serious misrepresentation of the facts.

The reason we won that game is because city weren’t ruthless enough on that day to kill the game when they were 2 up and Herrera produced one of the best assists you’ll ever see in your life.

Good result, but that wolves performance yesterday was a better blueprint than us soaking up pressure and conceding two before we start playing.

All about momentum. Every fecking game of this kind last season ended with them scoring a last gasp winner. Few more draws/losses like this early on and that invincible aura they've built will go for a toss.

Yesterday was a blow for City but a point away at a promoted club early on in the season isn't the worst result.

7 points from a possible 9 is identical to last year with one of the big six away games out of the way.

I do think Pep is trying to fix things that aren't necessarily broken though. It's ok having lots of different plans but Plan A worked so well last season. Mendy complicates the setup and while he may add an extra weapon to our attack, he's essentially taking all of Sané's space up. Plus he's so bad defensively. I've never seen a full back back off as much as he has in our 2 away games so far. Both Traore and Bellerin have had him back peddling to the edge of his own box and even then he's done nothing to stop the final ball. I think Delph will see plenty of action at left back in away games this year
