Our options are limited, who next?

Why do people keep saying Wenger? Arsenal’s football was pretty tumescent towards the end of his time there.

I’d take a punt on Ralph Hasenhuttl, he’s available right now and could give us the kind of style to compete with City and Liverpool.

Jardim would be interesting. Fella with the beard at Wolves or the guy at Fulham too as long shots. But I think Zidane with a contract for the season would be good if he actually wants the job. Would certainly pick Pogba's head up and we'd get some more forwards on the pitch.

Simple Facts will dictate the decision to
1. Sack Jose Mourinho
2. Appoint a New Manager

Finances - United will not want to pay huge compensation to other clubs for their current Managers when they will have to pay Jose between 15M and 20M.

Therefore Zidane is available, a recent winner of CL and was one of the 10 best players to ever play the game. The last being point key to managing the Egos of Martial, Pogba, Lukaku and Lingard.

Even more important to this decision is that Zidane can definitely attract World Class players and young talented players in the January Window. The deciding factor will be that if we carry on with this current toxicity, the Club could have played 21 games in PL by the New Year and have less than 30 points, some 10 to 15 behind 4th place. We could also be out of the CL after losing to Valencia and Juventus, already knocked out of the Caribo Cup with our season depending on a FA Cup 3rd Round game.

Even Woodward is not that much of a fool not to act now why Zidane is available and without compensation!!

I wish we would've done the smart thing in the summer and pulled the trigger on José and appointed Sarri.
Yep, a bit of proactiveness in the summer would've taken us far on the managerial front. On a side note, Roberto De Zerbi comes across as a younger incarnate of Sarri based on his positional play principles. Benevento intermittently played some attractive football last season after he took charge (though they did still end up getting relegated because of qualitative issues on top of a horrible first half of the season which led to Marco Baroni's sacking), and now Sassuolo are giving a good account of themselves (and leading the Serie A goalscoring charts for good measure). Work in progress and don't think he's polished enough to coach United just yet, but he passes the eye test as regards fostering an organised attacking ethos. Be interesting to see how he tightens the defensive failings of his system, adds greater variety to their attacking patterns, fine-tunes the overall organisation of the team and deals with greater expectations at Sassuolo after coaching a very weak team last year — definitely someone to keep an eye on going forward.

I'd keep Carrick and McKenna on an interim basis until the end of the season, with the prime aim of damage limitation and focusing on CL qualification. Surely it can't be any worse than the shite we're churning out week after week at the moment. Will give us some thinking/ interviewing time as well, and some time to appoint a DoF who would work well with the new manager.

I want a hungry young manager who plays football that doesn't make me want to pull my eyes out and throw them in front of a fast moving train.

Why is throwing them in front of a fast moving train so important? Does it really matter where you throw them after you have ripped them out? It's not like you'll be able to see them getting crushed.

Simple really. Any time from now till March, Zidane and Conte are available. After season end, Poch, Tuche and Beneditz should be available, 1 way or another.

We can still win the CL this season, so our best bet would be Di Matteo with Avram Grant as his assistant.:)

Either hire Zizou or appoint an interim manager pair of Carrick and Mckenna and then go for some like Jardim or Allegri as soon as the season ends. Please not Conte, no more Chelsea rejects fecking up our football (looking at the 3 of you Mata, Lukaku and Jose). And those mentioning Wenger, go see a shrink.

I just really want to give it a go - someone like Eddie howe, Carrick, Giggs or butt - just to come here & have us playing with some identity for one.

I really don't care for short term scratches of a random trophy - I'd rather we get consistent with a type of football that we can improve on season by season.

A home grown manager - ex united player would be my first choice but I'd also like someone like Eddie howe if that didn't happen.

@kouroux It's time for Genesio to bring his attacking talent to the biggest stage.:D

Woodward won't for a second even be thinking of this.

I agree with this. There are no perfect options out there, best of a bad bunch I think.

I don't think you quite appreciate how shit it would be for us to be out of the champions league.

In terms of keeping Jose or giving carrick the role on interim?

If the former then moyes & van Gaal went due to finishing outside the top 4. The glazers whole financial model is built around top 4 & group stage qualification being enough.

If it's the latter and about carrick then zidane is an unkown entity with our squad standard, and doesn't play the heavy metal football everyone craves. Carrick would be just as respected by the players as zizou or pep was when they took over. All club legends, silky passing former modfielders who are charismatic and intelligent.

Anyway I think it's all moot as I mentioned, Jose will ride the storm till the end of the season at least.

I just feel whilst carrick might not be the best man for the job obviously, he may be the best man for the club

As of now, considering the limited options, I'd be in favour of bringing him in, too. Proven winner, develops youth, opts for attacking football.

Once the board decided they would veto transfer targets that should have been the time.to.part ways

Zidane is definitely worth a punt for right now. Conte is definitely an option too - very underrated after his last season with Chelsea.

Otherwise Carrick as caretaker with whoever he wants in his staff. Just something for us to get behind the team again.

If Wenger is actually an option, get him for the season. See how it goes.

Maybe he's actually interested in it?

You know things are bad when people want Wenger.

Whoever it is, it's important they have a reputation for adventurous, attacking football. I'd put that requirement ahead of their trophy count.

It needs to be fun again; a word Moyes, LVG or Mourinho have ever been associated with.
