England vs USA & Croatia | Its coming home

Silly question, but what is the UEFA Nations League exactly?

http://www.espn.com/soccer/uefa-nat...-league-and-how-does-it-work-a-complete-guide

It is a competition between the 55 member nations of UEFA, created because "UEFA and its associations wanted more sporting meaning in national team football, with associations, coaches, players and supporters increasingly of the opinion that friendly matches are not providing adequate competition for national teams."
The 55 nations were split into four "Leagues." The strongest nations are in League A, and the weakest in League D.

League A and B: Four groups of three nations (12 teams)
League C: Three groups of four nations, and one group of three (15)
League D: Four groups of four nations (16)

Teams within each group will play each other home and away

The article explains everything else like promotion and relegation for instance

Well deserved for England, have outplayed the Croatian team for majority of the match.

Rashford starting over Sancho is actually laughable.

Kane probably scores the winner.

Would've prefered all this in the semi final but never mind. Fans can have a nice summer holiday in Portugal instead.

Croatia btw still terrible defending high balls.

England can go and win the Nations League.

Why not?

It would be a magnificent achievement.

Surprised being from Norway you're not in more tune with this, guess that's the apathy of last 18 years?

Norway beat Cyprus away by more than what Bulgaria win v Slovenia and they're in group B so a little bit of progress at long last and potential meeting with England.

And of course a play off spot.
Surprised huh. Watching the Norwegian NT and is mostly very hard work and most of the time I can't bother :)

Really interesting to see how the team manage these last few minutes.

England will win Euro 2020.

Shocking how stupid people are not to realise this. The semis and final are in this stadium.

Its theirs to lose.

What exactly is this competition? 4 tiers? like league systems?

If England don't win, they get relegated?

And why would England pick that starting XI in an important match against the WC finalists? That surely cant be the best available XI. Gomes, Chilwell.. that midfield 3. Why?

It's not as do or die as euro qualifiers (although with 20 + teams going through that's much kinder than World cup qualifying) so degree of experimentation can occur.

I too was confused by Nations league as much as anyone else but come on it's been ongoing since September so surely by now people have a grasp of how the groups work?

A) A scheme to guarantee large nations qualify for tournaments, UEFA doesn't want the likes of Italy/Netherlands missing out again

Also a scheme to guarantee small nations qualify, as winners of each league get a place at Euro 2020.

Off to Bee with you, Croatia. :x

France and Belgium favourites for me.

England can justifiably claim to be in that second group with Spain and Germany now I think. If conditions and squad selection are right then potential to get to final.

Rashford starting over Sancho is actually laughable.

Christ, give it a rest. Your bias against him is stupid. You actually thought that he was terrible in the match. Quit watching football altogether.

I place it same as Confed Cup.

World cup and euros remain ultimate of course. Winning would help mentality of young squad of course.
