Wouldn't say he's out of his depth. If he was turning out for city every week you'd see a different player. Why? because he'd have players around him that are at his level. He's our only player who can create anything on the pitch. He makes things happen but loses his motivation when players like Lukaku give the ball away due to his shocking first touch skills.

This match has made me turn on José a bit, simply because I don't think we/he ever actually tried to win this game against a team that was 19th in the Premier League. I cannot fathom how he thought during that second half that we were ever in the ascendancy enough to warrant making like-for-like changes. Sure, maybe the injuries to Shaw, Rashford, and Lukaku were bad enough, but to me, it looked like all of them could've continued and he could have changed McTominay or Matic for one of the attacking subs (Martial/Lingard/Mata). It was as if getting back to 2-2 was job done and we saw the game out. Madness.

Arsenal up next and I can't see how we win that game, the top four race is pretty much already over for us if we fail to win.

Every single player looks clueless on the pitch and have no idea what they are supposed to do when we have a possession. It just screams of lack of any attacking coaching whatsoever, we go to games with the mentality of NOT TO LOSE and somehow scrap a goal. When we eventually concede a goal we throw more men forward and suddenly we look dangerous. Equalise and we sit back again. It's tactics.

yes but Pogba was supposed to be world class. we stlil get told on here that he must be because he won a world cup and was (supposedly) brilliant in thqat competition. It’s obvious that we’ve got defensive problems but trying to grind out results to avoid conceding goals just isn’t working. If we were winning games, fair enough but we’re not winning.

The defensive problems we have is because Matic has been piss poor this whole season. He just escorts the opposition to our penalty box. Put a better defensive midfield player and get better tactics and coaching and this defense is good enough to play against most teams in the PL.

The CB's have been piss poor, I agree about Matic but there is more to it. We haven't got a strong pairing. We need better team selection, tactics, energy in the middle, rotation and width. We need a leader at the back, it's not down to one player being stale. The entire side looks finished under this manager.

I usually rant about Mourinho, but this match I really can't blame him that much. The way the players defended on Southampton's first goal was a joke. We lacked agressivity so much. There is no manager in the world who can avoid brain freezes.
