Given how our season is unfolding, and how deep our on-field troubles lie - we need a manager that is driven by a style of football synonymous with the club and also embraces modern football.
For me, Tuchel makes the most sense. We need someone who can compete stylistically whilst building a team from the bottom-up. The two first options for this are at our biggest rivals. He's the next choice.

Well no it's not. That's a false claim. His football is pretty decent on the eye, not overly attacking but decent and his 3-4-3 is a pretty good system. It just went south in his last Chelsea season because he fell with the board but they played pretty decent stuff in his first season. We need a coach, and with Jardim out Conte looks the best out of contract manager available in that regard. He's also a strong personality on and off the pitch and will demand money and success.
I completely disagree. Even in their title winning season I found their football to be a bore. Wasn't a fan of his before Chelsea either. I want some good football again.

Mourinho plays shit football and is also a cnut. Woodward will turn to someone like Queiroz to hold the forte until someone can be brought in on a permanent basis. I'm sure I can handle a few more months of crappy football until then.

Strange as it probably sounds, the results & performances bother me less than Mourinho's personality; virtually everything he says and does comes from a negative place.
We are down to slim pickings, and I get where you're coming from, but, after 5 years of negativity, I want a manager who favours attacking and implementing their game on the opposition regardless of what they've won. So, even though Conte's a successful manager, and has a clear way of playing which, admittedly, would be nice to see from us again, I don't think his football would be that enjoyable and, personally, I just want to enjoy watching us play again. The trophies can come after for me.

I think that would be the death of me. Another manager who has seen his best days and arguably more of a clown than Mourinho on the touchline.

As this season is a write-off then I don't really care when Jose gets the bullet as long as he's gone by the summer - my lone hope for the season now is that we can take some points off Liverpool to halt their title charge, and I was hoping Jose's unique brand of shithousery might get us that at least. After that he can go whenever.
I then want a young manager appointed in the summer who offers attacking football and a fresh approach to training and tactics - I don't care about past trophies or league experience, both those qualities have failed us. Ideally I want this person identified by a proper Director of Football with transfer targets ready in line with the style of play.
With the next manager selected for style of play and in line with a new DOF then we need patience for a couple of seasons at least - we're so far behind the other top four challengers that we can't panic if we fall sort of that target in the first season. Of course that will cost us the Adidas money, but that's where we are right now and panicking won't help us any.

He's not past his best days that's for sure. That's a weird claim. He had only 2 appointments at big clubs and and 1 national team. He's still at his peak years.
There's just a hint too much deja vu in appointing the guy who was sacked by Chelsea for failing spectacularly following a title winning season.
I've never been particularly fond of him as a manager either, even during his very successful run at Chelsea it felt like a bit of a fad. His football is boring and pretty much the antithesis of what the next manager should be.
Mourinho had a much longer career than Conte though by the time we got him. Conte had just about 6 years in big clubs management (away from Italy and the small appointments). He's still in his peak years, away from loving or hating his style of play.
After seeing what he's done with Everton - I reckon Marco Silva could be the guy.
We fecked it all up by taking Everton's manager, maybe we need to go full and complete the loop by taking him again...

We don't need a manager. We need a first team coach. I would like Favre and at 61 he still has a few more years left. LVG would have been much older.
Problem with Howe is attracting good upgrades. It'd take at least a season or two of really good stuff from him before we can attract top targets.
If it doesn't work out we're really struggling.

The name 'Manchester United' would attract the upgrades to play under a exciting attacking coach like Howe. We've thrived by developing players who are on the cusp of being great like Rio, Ronaldo, Rooney, Vidic to name a few. Under our current big name manager, we've been rejected by Jorginho due to our style of play.
It's time the club learns from these last 5 years and brings in a coach that befits the traditions of the club.

His team has finished in the TOP 3 in each of his last 6 Seasons . He's raised expectations to the point that anything less than ultimate triumph seems like failure . But make no mistake : the brilliant Simeone still has Atletico punching above their weight. Real Madrid and Barcelona suffer against Atletico like they never have before . Given his resources and results , it is hard to argue that Simeone is not one of the best coach in the world .
Compare him to Mourinho , Simeone doesn't court controversy like the Portguese . He is restrained in his press conferences, polite and respectful . He doesn't upset his players, but does inspire the same devotion and allegiance .

I think it's the sort of thing people tend to overestimate a bit. Moyes signed Mata when we were already struggling and supposedly had Toni Kroos lined up for the next season before he was sacked.
Whether Howe would have the confidence and ambition to approach those types of players is a different thing though.
I find it hard to believe 89 people have voted for Giggs after 5 years of mediocrity.
Our current problem is two fold:
1. Outdated football getting picked by good managers/teams
2. Lazy multi millionaires not willing to give 100% for a game against teams like Crystal Palace and Southampton resulting in the motivate 7-8 players being played agains 11.
We need someone experienced at handling big names, stand up to the commercials idiots under Ed, plays modern football, strong technically, ability to handle the Press, and most importantly (can’t stress enough) the ability to motivate lazy multi millionaires we have in the team day in day out (not just for derbies and finals). It’s hard getting a manager to tick every box, but at least we should look at people who have exhibited a few consistently in the last few years.
PS: the whole Giggs fiasco with his personal life is a put off for me, especially the way handled it. I don’t think he has it in him to make it here.
PS 2: I don’t view long-term replacement as a criteria anymore. Football has changed and clubs survive with managerial changes every 3 years. Chelsea and City have been successful in England over the last 10 years whereas a long-term club hasn’t won anything under Klopp. I also think we will get a long-term DoF who will take care of it (which could be someone like VdS or Butt or even Giggs/Neville who understand United)

I don't think we are as attractive as we once were, hence the whole overpaying for players. There are a lot of top teams out there now that maybe there once wasn't and along with their wealth as well. The last time England had a Ballon d'Or top 3 was 2008 so it even shows the best players in the world aren't even coming to England anymore

I heard that too but it has not been confirmed yet. Poch is going to be difficult to get. I would make a move for Jardim now. He is good with young players and I think he would bring a better style of play to Utd.
Can't believe people want Conte after what we've been through for years?! Another manager with shit football and his whiny sulking last season was awful, Chelsea not even trying at City last season should be a black mark on him forever, was one of the weirdest games I've ever seen. All that said I think he's a good manager but no, just no.
