Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

If she survives the Tories are a disgrace. I've never known a leader and her government treat parliament in such a fashion. It's been disgraceful.

Just call a fecking unity government and we can have an election after this is all done.

You’re very naive if you think a hard border instilled in NI wont kick things off again. It really doesn’t take much for the balaclavas to come out again. Not happy with fecking your own country you want to smash peace to smithereens too. Classy

Doesn't have to be a hard border. Who knows though, everyone has reasons why something can't be done but nobody can offer ideas how to fix it.

Not sure what you mean by the bolded.

It basically just means that imho brexit will hammer your country but don’t make it worse by ripping up a lasting peace to chase “taking back control”

How can it not be a hard border? Please explain.

To be honest I don't think a unity government helps.... Simply put there is no unity... There is many deals which 50%+ would be unified in voting down... I don't think any deal has a 50%+ in favour

Yeah, technology will sort it. Not sure what technology or where it's going to come from but.. it'll fix it!

For what it's worth I expect May to survive tonight. The list of potential replacements is horrible.

I agree there isn't (bar blocking no deal) but at least we'd be moving away from a PM primarily looking after their own job, reputation, party.

Maybe...

Because no deal - the result of Tory incompetence - would result in a hard border, the destruction of the GFA and quite possibly a return to the bad old days of The Troubles. And by The Troubles I mean murder of many innocents.

For some Land of Hope and Glory, dreaming of a colonial past bullshit.

Well tradition is the leader of the largest party is pm
So after 10 weeks or so of a temporary leader (erm fek knows but possibly ledsom) the odds are you end up with Johnson or mogg in charge of this hypothetical unity government.
Plus 10 weeks of no leader as he head to the default position of hard brexit... Which coincidentally mogg and Johnson would both like... Especially as they can then say oh well not enough time to negotiate... Time for full hard (on) brexit

I think she survives... But if not and either Johnson or mogg get to the postal vote I think they would win easily.

Then yeah it will be hard brexit and send the royal navy to Gibraltar... Presumably make britain great again plus build a wall in Ireland and make the EU pay for it

Hopefully the conservative MPs are a little more selective if who gets to the last 2

I expect
Raab gove Davies javid mogg and Johnson would look at running... Possibly more than that even
Aparently Mogg is unlikely to be chosen because he lacks ministerial experience.

At times like these I’d like to see a bit of a sense of humour from them.

Coming out to some vaguely inappropriate music or something.

The usual tone deaf speech, based on broad brush assumptions (“people want us to just get on with it”) and completely contradictory statements (deliver Brexit while making the economy stronger).

If anyone knew the answer the whole thing would be a lot easier. Some other countries around the world have shipment hubs and customs pre-clearance so perhaps they will do that, with proof of clearance required to bring anything back to mainland UK. If they really are to avoid a hard border they have to figure something out.

I actually think there will be a border of some sort eventually, probably where Irish citizens can't be stopped. The EU and the UK as a whole are far more powerful in all this than Ireland/NI. If it's between breaking off a chunk of the UK or amending a 20 year old document i know which i'd bet on. People saying we cant amend the GFA. We're leaving the EU. This is nothing in comparison.

The Tories have been a disgrace for alot longer than May. Absolutely disgusting the mess they've got this country in to.

How anyone can vote for them is beyond me.

Who are 'they'?

You are mis-understanding the situation. It is the EU + NI vs the UK. Ireland is part of the EU and is being backed to the hilt by the EU - NI voted to remain and are being dragged kicking and screaming into BREXIT. The EU is much more powerful than the UK and they are on the side of Ireland and NI.

I'm not even going to start to try and explain the challenges about policing the border here because your explanation shows a complete lack of understanding. You at least admit you do not know the answer.

I think on all the head to head polling he wins if he gets to the last 2... But I think lack of cabinet experience plus prominence in the erg means he won't make the last 2
Probably can command around 40 to 50 no votes as a max... But in the 2nd or 3rd round switching his allegence and those votes to Boris or raab or Davies would probably make that person the clear brexiteer candidate... And no doubt a cushy cabinet position for mogg (chancellor or foreign office or trade?)

I suspect he will back Boris assuming he's bound to drop a bollock and mogg can then challenge with cabinet experience in a year or two

This worries me. What if we end up with a Brexiteer that pushes us into a no deal?

They don't need a Brexiteer to push them there when the MPs can reject the current deal and get there in 3 months time anyways. This is some misguided fantasy that someone can go to Brussels, tell the EU to kiss their ass and secure them a golden deal. Someone has to either be a madman or a sucker for humiliation to step into this void 3 months short of the deadline.

Reddit says that if she wins tonight then the DUP might support a Labour led VONC tomorrow. That would mean a GE if they lost that right?

Moog is a busted flush - he will rightly fade back into insignificance once this entire mess is over.

So glad the needs of the country are being put before party. Tories can feck right off.

Exactly - there is no new deal on offer, the best they can get is a slight change to some of the wording or an additional declaration with some clarifications - this is basically the deal and thats it.

No... It would mean the conservatives have 21 days (I think... Might be 14?) To form a new government that commands majority... Basically force may to resign and get a hard brexit leader that the dup will back... Eg johnson
