The Saudi Takeover Rumor Thread

We looked like we were playing in sand today, so it's a start at least! Camels for donkeys all the same. Bag of shite, what have we become?

It's okay Adnan. Couple of Caftards don't think he's legit enough for them so it's clearly bollocks.

I'd quit posting tweets and let them stick reading caught offside again.
You’re definitely Pilib.

It's not the players which they sign are significantly better. It's the manager.
They sign players and if the players aren't good enough they buy someone else no problem. They've spent crazy amounts on just fullbacks. The saudis imo would do the same and we have ffp in our favour.

We will definitely be bought out sooner or later. The Glazers won’t get Utd to a better destination financially than where it is now and they know that.

They will sell to the highest bidder and I think it will happen sooner rather than later. I’m not ITK or Pilib De Brown, just my thoughts.

No. I just pay attention and have no problems listening when someone knows better.
Oh don’t get me wrong, plenty of people know far more about what’s going on behind the scenes at United than I do. I’m just a fan, like Pilib. We don’t know shit but have opinions.

The difference is, I don’t need an audience on Twitter to get my kicks.

Those full backs are not that good defensively, the team is more than sum of its parts and players look better with the manager.

Would make sense to find if the Glazers are trying to sell up now. Look at it from their point of view, they have spent more than in 5 years than they ever did under SAF, the wage bill is insanely high, the PL is getting harder to win, their managerial picks are awful and growth won't be big from now.

I would sell up too if I was them, but their asking price is far too high, I can't see many takers.

That doesn't make him a bullshitter though. Dismissing him as one is silly, when you take everything into consideration. That's not to say he's 100% reliable all the time.

Look, you’ve got your opinion and I have mine. I am super wary of people on twitter claiming they know stuff about the club - especially people that aren’t even legit journalists.

Fair enough.

I bet you once Saudis take over we'll start to realize how big clubs are being run, being ruthless and never accepting mediocrity. Make it happen please.

If it is true that the Glazers are thinking of selling up, I'm not really surprised. I think now is the perfect time to sell. The club requires massive investment both in infrastructure (Old Trafford is very dated) and personnel (the squad), and i don't think the Glazers want to commit so much money, especially considering the club is still 500 million in debt.

Commercially, i think we have started to reach a limit on our sponsorship revenues. Given how we have performed these last 5 years, i think we will struggle to better our current Chevrolet shirt sponsorship deal once that expires! So yeah, i guess there is no smoke without fire!

Aren't you tired of accepting mediocrity ? Aren't you tired of never taking decisions on managers till top 4 is impossible, giving new contracts to average players and rewarding mediocrity with giga salary after a purple patch ? Saudis will be ruthless and will never accept this shite. The difference in how we'll start acting as a club will be huge once they take over. Glazers don't care about success. They want to leech as much money as possible from the club and want it to be top 4 at bare minimum, so they only spend to secure it and sack managers only when they fail to get it. Time to get a board who will sack managers and sell players for not winning actual titles not for not finishing in top 4.

I don't know much about him but I remember him doing some player interviews before, so surely he's a legit journalist? I mean, journalism is his job isn't it?

Two brands in crisis. Not that I want it to happen, simply that I am powerless as a mere fan, but with each passing week, this makes sense.

Not just the football either. From a globalization standpoint, I would expect them to really take us to the next level.

Maybe I'm not well informed, but the City group's business deals to secure an MLS franchise in New York City that's partnered with Man City was brilliant. Then take gaming - I think City's team has been an exclusive partnership with one of top selling football games (FIFA urgh) for nearly half a decade now, no? And what about United? We're out there banging on about partnerships with toilet companies and watches that most people can't afford.

Thats all second of course to the immediate football club management.

Will eventually happen, don't know if it's the Saudis or not but yeah the Glazers will sell.
I don't know where I stand on this, on one hand I've been anti SA politically for as far as I can remember on the other hand a front three of
Griezmann-Kane-Neymar would be sexy.

Makes sense as there have been a few stories about how the Glazer children aren't as keen as their father was.

They won a title with Mancini and Pellegrini too. The difference is they have a owner that has ambition whilst we're happy with top 4. Their mentality is do whatever it takes to be the best and they're doing a good job of it thus far domestically.

Since my first time at old trafford, Man Utd have won 38 trophies, 19 of them major. I’m 31. If that’s a mediocre return for a football fan with hopeully 50+ years of supporting left to do, call me mediocre.

Look at spurs. Look what they are building. And here we have fans asking one of the most deplorable regimes on earth to save us.

This stuff with Pilib always happens every time a tweet of his is posted, he has contacts no doubt, and has had 'success' with previous tweets, to my knowledge Moyes getting sacked, and Pogba signing were two he nailed his colours to very early on, he's clearly not some random chancer, yet always gets some people's bristles up every time a tweet is posted.

All he said was we're looking to sell, not to the Saudi's, just looking to sell, and given what's going on I don't think that's hard to believe, finding someone to part with £3 billion plus for this mess however might be more difficult.

I hope they never touch this club. The last thing we need is to be like City with their asses owned and backed by an assbackwards country

Let's not kid ourselves. We all know all of these were thanks to SAF brilliance and he was covering for them and their policy. SAF wasn't just a coach he was managing almost everything related to football from top to bottom. We got badly exposed without him and Glazers idea was to desperately get a manager who will do the same and will manage everything football related. Problem is there's only one SAF and no big club is reliant on its manager in everything. For any big club they're just coaches with DOF and football structure behind them regulating football sides according to strategy and philosophy of the club, so they keep sacking managers with success keeping on.

Glazers were covered by SAF and once he's gone, the shambolic way of football management in the club got exposed and they have no answer to it. They wanted someone like SAF to do everything but there's nothing like him.

Time to get a board who will know how to run a big football club properly without being reliant on someone.

People need to resign to the fact that this will be the first step of our return. Feck off the Glazers and Woodward, bring on the Saudis = best managers appointing, and failed one will be parted off in no time, loads of money spent everywhere on the team, and bringing people who will run the football business better. We need Arab money to compete with City, they'll run the club better and won't see things like waiting till top 4 is impossible to take decisions and this BS.

Which manager is it that will sign for us that wouldn’t currently?

Medieval, barbaric, oppressive, misogynist imbeciles that have loads of cash due to geological luck are now desperately wanted by some on these boards? That's certainly more depressing than even our football currently.

All of which won't be on display in Manchester so I couldn't give a shit personally.

I think there is some truth to the tweet and it shows in part why the club didn't back him... they don't want to spend anymore they are ready for off.

This is an attempt at humour, yes? If not, perhaps you should try and live in Saudi Arabia as a woman or political opponent and come back to us. I think you've been seduced by the 'Etihad' project. Don't be. It's successful in footballing terms but still blood money.

So, as long as brutal oppressiveness isn't on your doorstep all is good? An interesting attitude but not one I can ever agree with. Life still is more important than football, even when we're this shit.

How gives a feck about politics or the way they're running their country, I don't get it. I only care about football. I don't want the best moral man ever to run the club if he's shite in his job and will make the club terrible. If they're coming, will be ruthless, will appoint people that will run the football side well and will throw money at the team, then I'll take them any day every day. They can do as much as they want in their country and run it as they want. It's not my problem and I don't live there. My only concern is what they'll do with the club.

Have you lived in Saudi Arabia?
If so, please tell me about it.
I genuinely want to know as I have never been there.

No matter how bad things get I don't want those backward genocidal corrupt criminal despotic assclowns any where near this club.

No, but my cousin worked for 3 years there as a nurse and although it was well paid, the stories she told me about what real life is like there were highly unpleasant, disgusting even. If you're male and connected you live a very good life. But not everyone is male, surprisingly enough. The UK has a long and highly undistinguished history of taking money and providing a 'home' from dubious regimes since the IMF crisis of the 70s. It's why London is the number 1 choice for ultra-rich 'businessmen' who suddenly need to leave their countries for some strange reason. But I digress...
