We're United again!

If he achieves the below, i'll be satisfied.
  • Finish in the top 6
  • Have a run in the FA Cup
  • Give it a good go against PSG
  • Bring back attacking football
  • Give a few youngsters a go

If he even ticks 4 out of 5 from that list I’ll be happy. Feck it, just the last two would be a rare joy with the season that’s in it!

Yeah, that should be the expectation. Playing attacking football and adding few youngsters to the first team should be priority, we have few players who should be given few games.

I can 100% guarantee we won’t be “United again” in March. When we are out of every competition and sitting exactly where we are now in the leage table.

The appointment of Solskjaer is an extremely poor decisions. It is an embarrassment and we are an absolute laughing stock to the rest of the PL.

What would you have preferred. Permanent manager now?

This.
Give an honest opinion, maybe some what pessimistic, that is not popular or in with the hope that a United legend will sort the club out and you get lambasted for it.
At the end of the day Ole hasn’t really proved himself to be a top manager, otherwise he would have managed more than Cardiff and Molde. He only got the job because of his legend status and connection to SAF.

How much experience did Zidane have before he took over Real Madrid? And Pep Guardiola at Barcelona? Didier Deschamps took over Monaco with no experience. Further back - Capello in Milan back in the 90s, where he won 4 consecutive titles. Johan Cruyff in Ajax.
They all had next to none, but they knew the system they were stepping into. I'm not saying Solskjaer will shine among the best managers of all times, but I don't believe his lack of experience at other major clubs is something you can hold against him. We've had 3 experienced players since Alex resigned. Both Mourinho and LVG were proven managers with tons of experience, but for most of us, we've not seen a worse United-team for 20 years.

Hiring Mourinho when he was available was a no-brainer. He was proven and ticked off the boxes as "winner", "experienced" and "best managerial CV". Still, retrospective, spending the money we have, I don't think anyone would struggle to perform just as good as Mourinho.

The first response in this thread is some veil attempt at pigeon-holing groups of people like a political discussion. The vast majority on here have been wanting Mourinho to go for months, still doesn't stop the countless point scoring.

While so many people are giddy at this appointment, I'm rather annoyed that Mou wasn't sacked ages ago to give Ole a good go at this season. The sacking point for him was ages ago, yet he survived until mid season.

Solskjaer: “Man United is the model, family, tradition, history, giving youth a chance, attacking football and winning. Biggest club in the world, best club in the world, best supporters in the world, we’ve got the best players in the world”

This is why we are all so happy, he just gets it.

Spot on

I don't think we are united again. Personally,I have a great fear that there is a rot set into the club that goes way deeper than the manager.

There is a reason Ferguson wanted Pogba out of the club. I think Ferguson ejected toxic personalities instantly.

The rumours we have been hearing about players only further my worries. I think we have too many mercenaries on high paying contracts vs young hungry players.

When did Ferguson want Pogba out of the club?

Like the mood around the club. Ed had a good inspiration here, what's better than a likable humble legend to cool down the atmospher around the club, didn't know he had such kind of inspiration in his locker, so kudos Mr Ed Woodward.

But I fear, like at Madrid and Chelsea, there will always be a good faction of his disciples ready to remind us about him everytime things are bad. From my side, I'm doing my best to forget he did exist, like I did with Moyes but this time I'm doubling the efforts. There's not worse experience than wishing your team to lose to accelerate the sacking process of the manager, I didn't feel like this even under Moyes, so glad the toxic one is far far away from my club.

Pogba is not a toxic personality, yes he said some things out of frustration but he’s human. At Juventus and France he never displayed any toxic personality issues though. Where as Jose Mourinho clearly has.

Sir Alex wanted Pogba to stay and literally did everything he could have at the time to convince him to stay. Fun narrative you created there though

Another pretend United fan.

If you are still negative after today then i don't think football, never mind United, is for you.

That is silly. Just because they are not 'over the moon' with Ole appointment hardly means they are not United supporters.

There was a wide range of views on Jose so hardly surprising that his replacement, especially given his record at Cardiff City has similar diverse views.

I think most agree that OGS is not the instant and only answer to all our problems but it feels like a huge black cloud has been lifted over the club and all supporters.

Feels like Christmas Eve.

When the glazers sell up it will feel like Christmas Day.

Be careful what you wish for.....

Pogba left because he felt no way to get into the first team. A manager known for putting any half decent youth player in the 1st team didn't use Pogba, instead getting Scholes out of retirement and Park. We also know that he really dislikes Pogba's agent, whereas Pogba has a great relationship with Rioala.

SAF 'wanting' Pogba to stay is just a token gesture, he obviously saw the talent and wasn't an idiot. But I doubt he lost any sleep over Pogba leaving, he probably saw the positive from it of getting rid of any Rioala presence at the club. If he actually tried to do everything, he would have actually played him a lot more than he did.

Why are people still keeping this myth alive ?
Here a link to help definitely put it to bed (I hope) :
http://www.espn.com/soccer/league-name/story/2060596/headline

Can people leave the players alone and let them enjoy it under Ole, I've a fear they moved from Mourinho's pressure to some fans pressure now, can we let them enjoy it and judge them at end of season ? It's not a good thing to always work under pressure and some fans are guilty of perpetuating this.

This myth will never die. No matter how much people want to believe it , it doesn't make it true unfortunately.

It's the wisest thing that has been said for a long time!

He wanted him to stay on a 1 year contract extension. He wasn’t doing very well in the reserves and no one thought he deserved a call up at the time. He was doing great, then didn’t like his lack of opportunities and started playing like shit. We had him on the bench, and saf choose to play jones in midfield. Says a lot.

There also one other massive prick involved at this point. And he’s still around talking shit in the press. Raiola, cnut agent extraordinaire put it in pogbas head he was better than us. Sound familiar? Raiola is the reason saf wanted pogba gone. He didn’t actually want him gone, but his cnut agent made it impossible for him to stay. Raiola is a fecking snake. Slithered his way into every aspect of pogbas life. From football to family to friends. Pogba could have been here under saf becoming one of our greats. Instead he was convinced he wouldn’t make it here by the cnut agent that went on to make millions in transfers.

If pogba told him to feck of tomorrow, I’d forgive everything he’d ever done. Even if he’d played a part in the downfall the starks, or killed bambis mum, I’d forgive him if only he’d get rid of the bellend agent.

I think there is a counter narrative being spun because he is at the club now.

Honestly do you guys think sir alex would have allowed pogba to go, while playing defenders ahead of him in midfield, if there wasnt some sort of extra info to the story. Thats just what I still believe.

Sir Alex wasn’t one to betray his principles. He didn’t believe that Pogba was ready, and he wasn’t going to play him just to try and convince him to stay. That’s what I meant by everything he could have done at the time. He absolutely could have played him, but the great man disagreed on him being ready, and wasn’t going to go against his own judgment.

Fergie wanted him to leave so much that he had some of his top dressing room lieutenants attempt to convince him to stay on (from their own words)

Now why would he ever do that when he's become filthy rich and successful under the Pizza man's guidance? Just to appease the feelings of some Top Reds™ who have an axe to grind?

Moving to Juve on his agent's recommendation has in hindsight been one of the best decisions of his life. complain about his antics all you want but Raiola is a hell of an effective agent from a client's perspective.

'Forgive him for everything he's done' is another funny quote, what dastardly deed has Pogba committed at the club? It sounds like he was caught taking a dump on the club badge in the dressing room after spitting in Sir Bobby's face from all the flack he catches from some for being human and flawed.

Fergie didn't allow anything. Pogba and his fat agent refused to sign new contract. No Fergie didn't want to sell Pogba, he left for free.

Erva said Fergie asked him and Rio to tell Pogba to sign contract. Fergie never hated Pogba he hated the pizza man that's Raiola.

If you still wonder if Pogba ever cared for United. For starter, he couldve literally joined any club post Juve, even could've played for his idol Zidane at Real Madrid but he chose United and we were fecking clueless as a club at time(still are). That says something.

I never thought I’d see the day when united fan claimed Juve was a better club than united. Truly sicking.

You lot above have killed the happy happy smiley smiley thread.

May Ole have mercy on your souls.

I feel like the first time in a long time we're Manchester United again, even though Ole has yet to have a game. We've had so many square pegs for a round hole. First their was the heir apparent, Moyes was brought in and literally told everything is in place for him all he had to do was work with the staff there, keep to the United way and learn on the job, instead he sacked them all and brought in his own guys and tried to make us play his Everton way. Next we tried the seasoned Euro Manager who could supposedly teach us how to play the fashionable possession based continental football and yawn. Then we had the serial winner but he was so dour in his style it felt like you were actually watching the club tear itself apart as it battled it's own soul to fit his needs. It feels now that we have hopefully turned a corner and instead they are looking to get in a manager who will play the way the spirit of the club wants to play. I know everyone is looking at this as a stop gap but I really hope that Ole nails it and becomes our new permanent manager because I feel like the club has found its soul again.

It has really been weird times, but now it is changing! Ole comes as a fresh wind, blowing away the bad mood and burying it somewhere in the North Sea. Now it's great times again and hope has returned!

So in your (not so intelligent) opinion - we are a laughing stock, and Solskjaer is a lousy manager because he probably wont be able to bridge an 11 point gap to Arsenal and Chelsea in 15 games (sitting exactly where we are), or be able to beat PSG in the Champions League ?

Solskjaer could win 12 of the next 15 games for United - and we still could struggle to catch them. So your demands for us not being a laughing stock - are fairly stupid.
