Great intent from the start. Movement and passing was sharp and incisive. Decision making was good more often than not. Just an improvement in every aspect of our play from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed that!

He was saying that he had spoken to people at the club and that no one was happy with how things were. He said everyone from the players, tea lady and kit men were unhappy with the current setup.
What on earth did we do to the tea lady? typical mourinho destroying the club both on and off the pitch.

Now Ole should sit lukaku out for few matches and let this team and style of play settle in. Transition him into the team carefully.
I don't see where Lukaku fits in a team that plays the style of football we want to see United play. He was brought for a Jose team, which is the polar opposite of what we all want.

The transformation not really unexpected as everyone could see Jose was choking these guys but that was great to watch. The passing, the movement, trying to get the ball back quickly and most of all every single one of them played well.

Lindelof striding forward and getting in to the box twice, Lingard was great and Martial looked like a man on a mission and I thought was fantastic. Pogba started shaky then grew in to it and some of the passes and just things he was doing were magnificent. I’m sure we’ll even go on to improve from here but what a start.

Regardless of the score, I fuc$ing enjoyed that!!!!

Perfect in every way.

Aenjoyed that game immensely, the players were hungry and wanting the ball, you can see Ole has been targeting the full backs as the source of width,
Hopefully we can kick on from this, certainly a good start.

I enjoyed that. Would like Dalot introduced for sure and perhaps Bailly and Pereira too. But that was the first time in a while I really enjoyed watching us play.

Problem is he was bought for a Jose team but was the wrong type of player for a Jose team as he has never been a target man that will just sit there and win you aerial balls and hold up play. Going off of today I think he would fit far better playing like we did today and bang in the goals as he is best off the shoulder running on to stuff.

So was Matic, who fits the JM style of play.

Lukaku under Martinez was a beast who could run at players.Jose turned him into a target man looking for crosses. Watch Ole turn him around

The deciding moment between what was and what is, was the Cardiff penalty. Our lads never dropped their heads and went on to score. Under Jose there would have been heads down and hunched shoulders.

The movement and touch was breathtaking at times. The give n’ Go was exhilarating and led to Martial’s goal. The horrible atmosphere has been exorcised and we kick on.

It was interesting in the BT commentary when Rooney said he had sent a text to Ole about the condition of the club and what needed to be addressed. Looks like the extended United family have all played a part in the changes.

I can't remember the last time the average player rating was this high.

That goal is one that Morrison, Lingard and Pogba use to score numerous times. Jose misused Pogba. I mean this was a guy who was scoring or shooting regularly while at Juve and then he just disappears?
If Ole is bold enough, he should try to bring Morrison in for a look, we will tier people part, but I think Sanchez can handle the right side.

Bring Morrison back?
He's done well to get us playing well, but let's not get carried away!

I think Sanchez would be brilliant under Ole.

Would love to see a front 3 of Sanchez, Rashford, Martial.

Credit to United for managing to score 5 goals against 12 men. I can't remember a game with Michael Oliver in which he didn't try to help the opposition as much as possible without completely outing himself as an ABU. With any other referee, it would have been United's first clean sheet since Burnley in September.

I don't think anyone could ever actually fault the effort of those two. The claims of laziness were never really directed at them.
true, but even our % of possession and intensity of attack put the pressure on them to run more. credit to those two and young too who was up and down. Will be tough for poor shaw maybe !

63rd minute of the game and our CB comes out with the ball and makes an excellent pass from which our striker almost scores...I mean I didn't even know this was allowed.

What a great game and performance! Couldn't have asked more in Ole's first game in-charge.

Merry Christmas Y'all!

We scored 5, kept thinking of all the times we've got to 4 and not carried on. It's one game but, if we can continue to play like that, with the speed of passing, one touch - keeping the ball moving, no reason we shouldn't dominate more games even against teams that will give us more of a game that Cardiff did.

He doesn't, impact player when we need strength. The first team should not be changed

Fantastic game.....absolutely loved it. We finished second for a reason last year, and at the start of last season we looked good so it was always possible. I as more concerned about who performed and how the shape of our team was.

Firstly, the big thing was the shape of the team...most importantly, the use of Pogba. He was truly an 8/10 hybrid today in the way Gerrard was under Benitez. He did not sit off the striker as much as most no.10's but played higher than a centre midfielder and he flourished in this role. He had less defensive responsibilities and allowed an avenue for the forward players to attack. In one game, ole may have solved a problem mourinho took forever to sort. Pogba is not a box to box or deep lying playmaker, he is an attacker, thats what he was when we signed him from Juventus, and what he proved today.

Secondly, I believe teams need to have at least 7 certain starters ( and 9 for ucl) to win the premier league. With Jose, apart from the start of last season, we have never had a settled group of players that work well together.

Out of the 11, i believe De Gea, Shaw, the trio in midfield and Martial are players that can start. Eventually Dalot will take the right back slot. We have 4 positions that are questionable in our first 11; the 2 centre back slots, the right flank and the starting striker role. For the centre back positions, we have some young players that can fight for the second slot in defence, lindelof, bailly, maybe Tuanzebe, but we need to sign a main centre back. We were not tested much defensively today, even though both Jones and Lindelof performed really well, but this position is our weakest in the first 11, and in order to build a solid base to allow consistent attacks in big games, we need a defender that can cover the second centre back, that can head the ball well, has good defensive and leadership skills, and can pass the ball well. We have good depth in the position and i would make some sales, but for me this is key defensively as shaw and dalot are expected to push up the field consistently.

In midfield, I believe Matic is still class if rested for some games. Herrera should mostly start, but him and fred should be rotated consistently to keep the energy fresh in the team. The attack is another major concern. We need an attack that knows how to play together and play with a quality rythm that can work off of Pogba. Martial should be a guarantee. But I do not think either rashford or lingard should be starters yet despite their good performance. Link ups often broke down due to them in attack. However I would like this period to be used to test and improve rashford as a striker, to guage his true level and potential. Lukaku has to be given a chance too, as he was good last season, but again we need to see whether he can play with some of the pace and link up play we had today, if not, then the striker position needs evaluation, and we have up to the summer to see what happens there. On the right wing, we have no pacy wingers, neither mata or lingard should start, and really should be squad options. I would love to see Tatith Chong test himself in that role. The big question in that position is Sanchez. If he wants it, he should be able to bring real quality to the position, but we need to see how that would look first. If we can have martial and sanchez on either flank, playing consistently well, our attack would be really dangerous, if not, that position should be heavily evaluated over the summer.

We have a good squad, with lots of really good players. We need to evaluate specific positions to see how we can become complete enough to match europe's best. The only signing I would make in January is for a centre back. Aside from that, current squad options have this season to stake a claim to those positions, and have to produce consistent quality to remain there.

Yeah, I thought Linndelhof and Jones were trying to run out of the ground but then I thought,"No,You're attacking like CB should."

First of all, this was absolutely beautiful to watch. Not just the fact that the team scores five goals and tries to score more and more and more, but also the way that the team always pushed so hard to win the ball back at every opportunity.

This was in every way the perfect way for OGS to start, and with some "easy" games coming up we could hopefully see United play something similar for a little while. I do really hope that we see a team that really just go all out against Huddersfield.

Seeing this game was a lot of fun, and having followed Ole as a player for his entire career at United it just felt so good to see him get this start. I do not think he will be out permanent manager, but I really hope he can have a good period at the club.

At the same time, we need to stay levelheaded about all of this. I am from Norway and over here the last few days have been completely crazy, with everyone from the prime minister to the man in the street going overboard with excitement. And yes, this is very exciting. Yesterday I interviewed one of the players that have had Ole as a coach for the last three years, and even though he is an Arsenal-fan, he both believed and hoped that OGS will do well with his tenure here.

The start was everything we could hope for. Goals, positivity, smiles all around, but we do need to remember that this was Cardiff. It´s easy to say that this would have been a drab and difficult game with Jose in charge, but we don´t know for sure. Cardiff will not be Ole´s biggest test, and neither will the coming games either probably. I really do hope that he can get some positive results and build some momentum, but even though this is extremely exciting, we have to be careful with getting to far ahead of ourselves. This was Ole´s biggest match so far as a manager. The tests will get a lot tougher in the coming months, and I think both he and the players showed today that they merit some patience. And we also need to remember that he could not have done that much in the few days that he has been here. This was a team effort. This was the first team coaches responding well to a new set of directions, the players responding well to more freedom and then on top Ole coming in and saying a lot of the right things from the get go.

Now we need them to do it again. We need them to start doing the same thing on a regular basis, and not being completely stomped when the opposition is better. Because there was areas of our game today where not everything was great. Against great counter attacking teams we would have given away much to much space playing like today, so even though it was refreshing to see, I also hope we will see more refinement in the way the team sets up going forwards. That we continue to attack, attack, attack, but that we also know when to dial it back just a notch, so that we don't have to chase game after game by being to ambitious.

This got a bit longer than I had intended. Today´s games was a lot of fun, and I really do hope this continues to be fun for the rest of the season.

Tl;dr This was great, but don´t get carried away by one game (we have enough of that here in Norway)
