As long as he has a good team of coaches around him, then it might work.

Finishing in Top 4 = Slight to decent chance of happening
Champions League win = Minuscule to slight chance of happening
One of those two and I'm sure he'll get the gig full-time with a non-risky contract length of, say, 2 years.
Anything short of that and I'm guessing we'll be going all in for Pochetino in the summer.
I can confirm, judging by Poch's Spurs performance against Cardiff, Ole's brand of football is a lot better and entertaining than Poch IMO.
I've just thought; we don't need to junk our version of Something Tells Me I'm Into Something Good, we can just swap Jose for Ole. Happy days.
If he wins the Champions League he'll get a statue.
I do agree though. Despite everybody getting carried away with how good the recent games have been I think it's pretty obvious that the board are looking beyond him.
You're thinking about what your crisps and cake look like. Solskjaer will have meant 'fika', which is hugely common thing in Scandinavia but doesn't translate well to English.I don't believe him for one second when he says he eats crisps and cake while watching telly. He has kept a nice figure.

Would rather we did, that song was an embarrassment and I’d rather we forgot it.
They were already singing your suggested version against Huddersfield btw
It soon became embarrassing when it transpired we were playing shit on a stick football, but I quite enjoyed the song. It doesn't surprise me it's been brought back under Ole.
I agree Bruce and Hughes are hardly the Chuckle Brothers in terms of personality or playing style at other clubs but in charge of United albeit in a caretaker role I bet they would fill their boots especially with our attacking options whilst sorting the defence out. I’d fancy our chances against top 6 clubs too.
Both Paul Ince and Harry Rednapp said Bruce would be their preferred choice so I’m not being totally deluded here.![]()
Pundits often likes to go against the grain to get attention, Bruce and Hughes have both been at it 10+ years as PL/Championship managers and both have hardly achieved anything
It’s a decent song but we started singing it way before Mou deserved it, and way past the point of him having any chance of deserving it.
It just reminds me of bad times like the Come on David Moyes song.
I’d rather we just move on from anything associated with the Mourinho era.

Yes and we got a serial winnner with Mourinho and look how that turned out!
I reckon with a big budget and top quality players Hughes and Bruce with all their experience and love of United to boot are not ridiculous options.
You still harping on about this? With hindsight, would you still want Bruce or Hughes? Also, Hughes love of United? The former City manager, who has been taking snide shots at us for years.Yes and we got a serial winnner with Mourinho and look how that turned out!

I'm not sure about that, I don't think Hughes holds us in particularly high regard these days.
I agree with the wider point though, I don't think Bruce is as laughable an option as caretaker as some. He still has the love and passion for the club that he's always had, and that's a good portion of what we need now given how terminally lacking Jose was in both. Ole has brought some better, more energetic football too but Brucie with Phelan, Carrick and McKenna would probably have been fine to be honest (I accept the point it would have looked a little odd).

Ok maybe not quite a love of United in Hughes case but at least he knows the club and it’s traditions and as an ex striker I can’t believe he would play a defensive style with the quality of our attack. I bet he would have snatched the clubs hand off if he was offered the caretakers role.

Doesn't make it a good idea though. Not sure why anyone would think that Hughes is all that well liked.
A manager doesn’t have to be well liked to be successful and nice guys don’t always win. Maybe I’ve got a soft spot for Hughes as he was one of my heroes back in the 80s but I would take Bruce over him for sure. Just intrigued how Hughes would have played it - all hypothetical of course!
IMO you're confused about what we needed then. The entire club was tired of Mourinho, from the players to the general staff, the general atmosphere was reported to be dire. We needed optimism, someone to lift everyone up and give a bit of much needed hope that things can be turned around. Bringing Hughes in would've been like treating a gunshot wound by stabbing someone.
Yes I agree we needed the feelgood factor back at the club and the change has been remarkable though it wasn’t exactly rocket science achieving it. Hughes may have a face like a slapped arse but it certainly wouldn’t be in charge of United!
I’m just playing devil’s advocate suggesting alternative caretakers that meet the ex United legend criteria that could have achieved the same effect but with substantially more experience to handle the inevitable rough patches.
Maybe. I think love and passion for United was the number one quality in the caretaker candidates, so I would have put Ole and even the likes of Bruce above Hiddink for example, who has a proven record in management but nothing to do with United. Hughes is patchy as a manager and has been less than complimentary of us in the recent past so I'd have been less keen on him.
For what it's worth I think Ole was a great appointment as he has the passion in spades, is a younger more up and coming manager who cannot yet be pigeonholed as a midtable/lower league journeyman and is clearly interested in playing positive attacking football.
She is a keeper and I love her but still she must produce.Lasy words, which i told my friend, you are man lookin for a lady to marry, you are from a toxic relationship (Mourinho) who made you sad, never appreciative, never grateful, always complaining, picking fights, saying you haven't spent much money on her,
now you get a lady who knows you inside out, probably since childhood, makes you smile just when she opens her mouth, her words are your melodic love tones, appreciate you, takes you as you are no complain, young can give you 20+ years importantly behaves the way you want What Else Do You What? What? What
Ole has managed European games with Molde, Hughes and Bruce have not AFAIK. They have extra experience of managing loss I supposeYes I agree we needed the feelgood factor back at the club and the change has been remarkable though it wasn’t exactly rocket science achieving it. What do you mean by this out of interest? That all footballers have the same metabolism?
You only have to look at ex footballers to see there's a massive range. From those who look like they never stopped. Like giggs. To those who are huge like ruddock.
But then both are totally different frames.
It's been observed that people who, in their youth, had an strenuous lifestyle ( marines, special forces, high level athlete ) and subsequently low bodyfat would store fat and maximize nutrient absorption since low adipose levels are not exactly propitious to survival. When they retire, coincidentally around the time when their metabolism naturally slows down as well, their activity levels drop radically but not their body's ability to process the nutrients and store them. Therefore, it becomes easier for them to put on weight post-retirement.
That's a theory, another one is simply that having spent 20-25 years going through rigid diets, they just want to enjoy all that money and forget about maintaining their physiques and enjoy life.
When can he sign on the dotted line?
