What in the general? Romney wouldn't stand a chance in the primaries. Trump will take him our pretty easily. As we have seen in the last 2 years, Trump's base (which is pretty significant) is fully behind him. They do not care about the Russia scandal or his corruption or anything for that matter. All they care about are the cultural issues and he is acing it for them in those regards. It's the dilution of the American society that they are worried about and Trump is a living embodiment of Fox news in a president.
Romney is positioning himself as such in case Trump doesn't re-run for president. He is a new senator, who is not in any danger as his term will last well beyond Trump's first term (and only) as president. It's pretty safe from him to attack Trump and try to get decent republicans voters (if there are any) on his side early.

Not seeing where you said that . I honestly dont see what trump has done for the evangelical base other than Move the Israel embassy to jerrusalem. Yes he appointed conservative judges but thats bascally more to do with mitch mcconell than him. He has accomplished very little but chat and they are starting to notice. No wall, no johnson amendment etc. Trump is actually extremely poor at getting things done and big players like Fox and Ann Coulter are starting to call him out on it. Its not crazy talk to think a republican could primary him and weaken his support with the evangelicals. God may tell Jerry Falwell that trump is no longer the second coming of christ after all , and he loses some buzz.

I have no idea, just some random person who keeps getting retweeted by people I follow like Aaron Rupar, Michael Moore and Jake Tapper. I just thought that was a pretty spot on observation regarding the hypocrisy around Romney. Like Eboobies says, there are no good Republicans. I have no problem with someone exceedingly wealthy being president, that doesn't necessarily mean they can't govern in a way that is best for a country.
