Great post! It's not that I am not enjoying the team play, I am, especially with the results, but in order for us to be a top team we need to boss the midfield against top teams. We need more ball retention in that area to help out our defense as well. Right now as soon as we lose the ball, the opposition is at the throats of our defenders, and no matter who you have there, they will have a tough time defending like that the whole game. We need someone to put in tackles and break up play and a ball playing midfielder to play alongside Pogba. Such a shame that De Jong signed with Barca without so much as a whisper out of us. He would have solved part of the problem for us in midfield.

To be fair, that was the similar complain about SAF's team since about 2008. Guess what? it worked for the great man without complicating too much.
Control is good but not to extend it becomes like how Jose and LVG wanted us to play. Too much control would lose fluidity of the attacking play. It is not to say we can't improve it but give the guy more time.
Watched maybe 15 minutes of the first half and some time at the end but what I saw let me enjoy ManUTD games again. I think Ole allows the players to make mistakes which results in refreshing attacking football.
I am doubtful about his defence though. Especilly the space between Midfield and Defence is huge and allowed Arsenal to be to easily in the spot where it starts tobecome dangerous. Currently no harm has be done. So what do I know...

The one thing that is making me happy more than anything else about Ole’s tenure so far is that I know that it will be making Sir Alex happy. This is what he deserved to enjoy post retirement.

Actually just came in here to post this. That’s why I want Ole to get the job full time. There hasn’t been a buzz like this about us since Fergie retired and I know its only 8 games but this is really atarting to feel like a Fergie team, fast attackers, plenty of youth and academy players as well. Plus Carrick and Phelan who know and love the club seem to be playing big parts.
I wouldn’t want Poch or Zidane coming in as outsiders and starting to mess with that.
Should be at least 10/10 wins, probably even more? No use really betting on how long his new record will stand,likely not even my grandchildren will be around to collect it.

Yeah, I liked that - confidence bordering on arrogance. That's our football heritage.
The best/worse part is that I don't even think that the current squad totally fits his needs. When I listen what he says, he seems arrogant and ruthless, in a good way, and I'm pretty that if he was appointed as a permanent manager, he would bring at least one top attacker and try to vastly improve center midfield.
It's not just Ole I like. It's all four of them on the bench. The way they interact and celebrate is great. It feels like we have a boot room in there. Everyone is involved. It feels very fresh.
I'm starting to lean towards the idea of forgetting about Poch or whoever else and just giving Ole a two year contract. It's not just results, but he conducts himself with dignity and has injected some enjoyment in to the club. Seeing him, Phelan and Carrick jumping for joy when we score is great, and feels very much like the United of old where everyone is pulling in the same direction and, well, united.

Just watched his post match press conference-I know it has been said many times but what a refreshing change after Jose. The biggest difference (apart from not being a miserable tw*t) was that so often he referred to "we", sometimes I think he meant the coaching staff, sometimes the players as well-not the "I, me, myself" torrent of self promotion we got from Jose.

It's about applying pressure upfront, because we don't have better defends to sub on to soak more pressure.

Eight consecutive wins including wins away from home against Spurs and Arsenal is the best possible start for a manager. The next level of challenge is to look good against PSG, Liverpool and City. A nice draw in the FA cup would help as the team needs to be fresh.
United fans should be excited about Ole for the way United managed to soak up pressure and exploit Arsenal on the counter. It takes a lot of nerve to keep players high up the pitch to counter while you are getting attacked in waves and with great numbers by the opposition. The natural tendency would be to play a much lower block.

We had Jones, Mata, Fred and Dalot on the bench. Another manager might easily have taken off one of our forwards and changed our shape to put an extra body in midfield. Takes balls - and confidence - to resist that option in a close (at that point) game away to a decent side.

Won't get carried away but He's done really well so far. I liked how He said something along the lines of "We've beaten our tests but what We haven't shown is how to react after a goal down" post Tottenham match.

Similar build, flashes of grey hair, same fist bump, the motivational skills, the way we attack teams, the way he speaks of united, the way he runs down the steps from his seat in the dugout, his answers in the pressers. I’m actually the opposite. I’ve been pleased with how quickly Ole found his best team, and see little reason to rotate without good reason. The couple of changes he made last night was the right balance.
Nice post. During the game, the commentators, not sure what their sources are, made a few inferences on SAF’s influence on his recruitment as well as the changes we’ve seen post Mou. I was not convinced when Ole arrived. Perhaps it was that we’ve been taking such severe beatings in our managerial choices. Every game that goes by, I am happy to be proved wrong. Really nice to see goals and smiles back in our team. Not sure if this was posted but I enjoyed reading it ....

Agreed. Our game plan is based on being solid but the number 1 target is to WIN the match, not just be cautious and stop goals. Now we are solid at the back but have a clear plan of getting the ball forward ASAP and looking to the wide forwards to counter. They aren't having to track the fullback as much, the midfield is having to cover move ground but that's perfect. Let Herrera sit back and help mop up if the fullback comes forward.
By doing this teams will eventually stop sending their fullbacks forward and it'll make it easier for us to defend. We are starting to put the fear into other teams again. LOVE IT.
I will be so disappointed if he leaves at the end of season. Even if we don’t make top 4 or win a trophy he has still shown that he has all the tools to be a very good manager. Would be so underwhelming to then end up with someone like Allegri which is what would likely happen.

Still buzzing over the result last night, love Solskjær. Without sounding like an Arsenal back in October, It feels like our club is back. We’re finally resembling a Utd team

If there is one thing Fergie knows, it’s people. He’s known Ole for two decades and he will have judged him on that and known he is right for the job.
There’s a counter argument with Moyes of course but you can argue that he wasn’t actually Fergies first choice and they didn’t actually know each other that well.
What a turnaround to the season. As a neutral, I stopped watching United this season because it simply became a waste of time. Now it's fun again to watch the team, and I'm glad the players could redeem themselves, because I really like that group.

Great job so far. A lot of what he is getting praise for is stuff I expected him to be good at. Raising morale of the players, playing attacking football, not constantly whining and moaning to the press etc. But his game management and tactics have been considerably better than I expected. Last night was a counter attacking performance that Ferguson would have been proud of and little things like subbing Lingard off when he was in danger of losing his head, recognising that Martial and Rashford's speed off the bench would cause huge problems for an Arsenal side pressing for an equaliser... he's clearly a better manager than many people, myself included, assumed.
Rotating in lesser quality players is idiotic. I want us to win. Yeah some of our players need a rest, and if we get a lesser team in the next round I'm sure then there will be rotation. But I've zero interest in seeing lesser player start because they're "under used".
It's hard to rotate when the players in reserves are way off those starting, and that's our issue, the squad isn't that deep.
