Champions League Round of 16 (12th Feb - 13th Mar)

They have offdays, where they're collectively shite. Mostly down to underestimating opponents or generally not being arsed to perform. Also, PSV won like 17 matches in a row and beat Ajax.

Oh and we beat then 6-2...

Thay being said, Ajax should kill this game. 0-3 and theyre done.

PSV basically have the perfect formula for beating Dutch sides.

Very happy we are 2 goals ahead. We need a third though. And even then it will be close. Madrid will be able to force goals in the end.
Game might end in an exciting 2-3 or 2-2.

This actually needs to stop, how is that not obstruction

It’s absolutely atrocious refereeing and such a cop out. Good press from Ajax and he has nowhere to go so falls over. The defender gets it every time. So infuriating.

Hopefully Ajax can keep it up in the second half because Real can only get better. They are really back to the wall atm.

It’s almost as if being around quality players rather than the dross of Southampton has helped him.

I’m not saying we should all get a hard on and go try and sign a 30 yr old midfielder, but credit where credit is due, he’s done well this season.

I don't think anyone is denying him of any credit. I'm just saying 7 excellent months at Ajax isn't reason to sign him, particularly given we've already seen what he can do in the premier League and it wasn't of the level we should be striving for.

It's ok thanks. I saw him for 4 years in the league he'd be playing in should United sign him. A much more relevant case study.

He was surrounded with dross because they're a selling in Southampton and still he was one of their best players. In this Ajax team that's got talent in abundance, he's one of their best players.

Feck off Spurs. They’ve offered next to nothing all game and are hanging on by a thread thanks to Lloris. Dortmund could be out of sight by now.

I don't know why we sold Blind and kept Jones

Jose moans about not having ball playing centre backs ...and then sells our best ball playing centre back :wenger: I liked Daily Blind. Always thought he'd look good in a back 3 with maybe two stronger defenders next to him (not that he's bad in a back two but I thought it would take the pressure off him a bit)

Also this Ajax team play some mouth watering football. Hope they can finish the job against Madrid today.

They really do. They're so confident on the ball. It's Barcelona-esque.

Ajax are a joy to watch. They’re finding space effortlessly behind Madrid’s midfield and their link-up play in attack is excellent. The 0-2 scoreline flatters the home side here.

I don't even know why I've watched this game. reus has been very good and the only thing they didn't do was score.

Madrid are playing as against Barcelona in the clásico. Like headless chickens. Running a lot, courage and impetus, but without having an attack plan.
Ajax with a very clear plan, playing very well. If they are smart they can kill the match in the second half, although I also expect a bombing of Madrid.
We'll see if Asensio and Bale do something.

So far so good for Spurs. The logic of the first game dictates we defend in this game, and we've done that well 1st half.

Lloris has been very good. I'd be surprised if Dortmund don't score at least 1 2nd half, but 3 without reply is a big ask for them.

I’m watching both matches. The Madrid Ajax match is one of the most entertaining matches I’ve watched in quite a while. The Dortmund match is literally Dortmund vs Lloris.

Spurs deserve to be knocked out for this cowardly performance.

He's never posted numbers like this in his entire career. Are you saying this 6 month spell is the real Dusan Tadic and the rest of his career is just a 10 year anomaly?

Or is it perhaps that he's just in an absolutely incredible moment? Helped by the fact his confidence is through the roof because he's playing for comfortably the best team in an absolutely awful league?

Another goal for Ajax will end it, they should push Madrid in the second half and not try to defend a comfortable lead. It’s Real who are under huge pressure here.

Why in the flying fuk lately every stream I watch has goddamn yankees at halftime doing analysis...

Would you say they have been the best team in the league ? Are they not first due to underestimating teams ?

They are not first because they lost 3-0 away at PSV and 6-2 at Feyenoord this season. In terms of individual quality and money spent they are by far the #1 in the league.

Some people on here have been drooling over Ten Hag who's generally been doing well enough, especially in Europe (best performance being two draws against a poor Bayern team though) but that guy hasn't really got Ajax performing that great in the big Eredivisie games. Also got trashed 3-0 at PSV away last season for example.

 Such bollocks. The onus is on Dortmund, not Spurs.
