Kodos for 2020!!!!the politics of failure have failed, we need to make them work again

Has to be for a real reason.
There is no way to tell since it's dependent on a vote at the EU council where unanimity is required.
Pretty sure they said they'd only extend for a valid reason.
Not agreeing on a deal they've put forward wouldn't be classed as a good reason i'd imagine.
I'm sure Juncker said no existing member would stand in way of extension if Britain wanted to delay brexit. It can possibly be extended if there is election allowing people to vote.
Doubt any 'special reason' is needed other than more time to negotiate a proper contract or new election/referendum.

From Sky News...Mark Rutte says there needs to be a "credible and convincing justification" is needed for any extension to Article 50.
"A solution must come from London," said Mr Rutte.
"Should the UK hand in a reasoned request for an extension, I expect a credible and convincing justification.
"The EU27 will consider the request and decide by unanimity.
"The smooth functioning of the EU institutions needs to be ensured."
Its already split in half, I'd rather it be split in half but not completely crippled thanks. So on March 30th we are going wake up still in the EU.
And March 31st.
And April 1st.
And April 2nd.
And April 3rd.
There will be some large protests come March 30th.
If we begin moving towards 2nd referendum territory, the worst thing that could happen, might be that remain wins.
It will split this country into two.
Someone needs to stand up with a solution

Seems like if they're going to agree an extension, we have to agree on a reason why. Second Referendum or General Election. I personally think it'll be an election.
An election or referendum sure. More time for May to keep asking the same question? Unlikely.

I think if they had to have the choice, it would be an election over a referendum.EU has this hope that in absence of a deal or alternate options, a new election/referendum would keep UK in EU. That would be their preferred solution.
So they will extend this time. Perhaps after new election/referendum, brexit still stands...then they won't extend anymore.
I get that, I'm just saying the people I work with, family and friends I have who voted leave all just assumed it would be a clean break. Hence where a lot of the "get on with it!" talk came from, I guess.
Again, we don't know and Juncker doesn't either it depends on the reason of the extension and whether EU members thinks that its a good reason.

They'd likely be under the impression that a referendum could cause more trouble than it's worth, and even if leave won again, we'd be no further in, because there would still be squabbles over the deal.
Under an election, the Conservatives can put their deal out, and Labour can put their alternative out. Lib Dems can continue to be as irrelevant as ever. If Conservatives get elected again, then they do so with the mandate of the people like our deal, we must approve it. Same with Labour. If it's a hung parliament again, well, we may as well just shut up shop and go home.
Oh I agree. The whole thing was a massive clusterfeck, and should never have been put to a public vote to start with. That's nobodies fault but their own, given that they were told every single day by everyone who knew anything about this that it would be anything but a clean break.
Thankfully a precedent for ignoring the results of a referendum wouldn't have been set for Farage, the ERG and co to demand a third one and another 3 years of this. That would be the best thing that could happen. Especially if it achieves an actually significant majority showing that the leavers no longer want it.

Well I was making the assumption that Remain would win, which I certainly don't think is a done deal. If it did, I think it would depend on whether Farage decides leaving the EU or trying to get his party MPs in the Commons is the ultimate end goal.Would they really attract a majority for going through all this shit again?
To anybody in Britain: Hammer your leave friends with questions, ask your brexiteer family members what has come from 3 years of Brexit. Demand answers, be obnoxius, be intrusive, never mind manners.
The people responsible for this should at the very least feel the wrath of those fecked over by it. You won't change anything by being nice.
Bring in James fecking May at this rate.Bring back David May.
Can I post this
Britain winning over EuropeWhat in tarnation is that?

At the very least they have to request for a 1-year transition period into this hard brexit. feck all is ready for the end of the month.
Michel Barnier says hi.
doesn't matter and can't affect A50, it's a motion not a bill, it's symbolicIs the bill tomorrow amendable
Ie could somebody tag on something like this house rejects no deal and the government will withdraw A50 if we reach 7 days till leaving with no extension or deal agreed?
