Jeremy Corbyn - Not Not Labour Party(?), not a Communist (BBC)

Brexit also (bizarrely) stopped being a campaign issue, terrorist attacks occurred which highlighted cuts to police, and previous Labour voters that had been wary of Corbyn solidified against the Tories (and have now fallen away again).
I see nothing in there which would stop “the media” doing the hatchet job on Jezza that Corbynites constantly accuse them of. All it might stop them doing is ignoring him.
Yeah, they were running IRA stories about him every other day, it seemed.

For me if we're going by his personal polling figures this ultimately just boils down to the fact that the public just...don't really like him. It appeared as if he'd reversed this in 2017 after a dodgy start in which he'd been vilified beyond belief, but the graph shows his brief popularity (if it can be called that) has basically fallen away again to the point where you've got someone who's been in charge of the main opposition party for four years while constantly maintaining negative polling. That's dreadful, however you want to look at it.

Yes, the media are dicks to him, but he hasn't exactly helped himself by basically not having a position on the single biggest issues that's impacted the country in decades. He's a solid campaigner when he puts his mind to it but leading an opposition party (or indeed one in government) involves having to do much, much more than that.

While he's arguably more toxic than Corbyn due to some of his past comments, I reckon McDonnell is probably more effective than Corbyn.

At least Chuka has been confirmed as the next Mayor of London though, glad that's sorted.

There's literally a chart up there. Looks to be around June 2017, not sure what happened then.

It was during the 2017 general election campaign and immediate aftermath.

I would love to see what would happen to his figures if he came out strongly remain and then ran a GE campaign based around that. Yes there are urban labour seats that are heavily leave, but I dont think he would lose those seats to the Tories, maybe a few yeras back they could have gone to UKIP but they're a farce now. I think on a remain campaign he could win outright majority. Also would be good to see the tow main parties take opposite sides of the brexit debate rather than the weird cross party splits, we're seeing at the moment. It speaks volumes that labour is still having a discussion over whether it is a leave or remain party.

Tin foil hat time but i wouldn't be surprised if that video has been known about for some time and someone aware has leaked it as anti-corbyn press.

Maybe just a coincidence that it's come out at the same time Tories have gone into attack corbyn overdrive

Odd conspiracy theory. The reaction to the video seems to have been overwhelmingly in support of Corbyn rather than against him.

Finding it disgusting isn't the same as supporting Corbyn. It's the whole setting the tone off Army vs Corbyn.

Like i said tin foil stuff but seems convenient to me

The highest ranked members in the room will get dismissed. That's no example to set to young soldiers. The army are professionals, not a bunch of cowboys.
The irony in that whole episode was off the scale. Kids shooting at a picture of the guy who’d ensure they’d never be sent to an illegal, dangerous war and would be decently looked after when they leave the army.

Heartbreaking to think they’re conditioned to think the Tories are interested in the maintenance of the army when a walk down the high street of any town shows you they’re perfectly happy to see thousands of them end up on the streets.

Pretty weird that the army is so against Corbyn considering he’s one of few politicians that is against frivolously shipping these guys off to these absolute hell hole situations that result in a lifetime of PTSD.

Some soldiers seek combat.

The sad fact is that they are conditioned to think that way, the same way that the electorate are subtlety conditioned to think that he is an Anti-British traitor.

Even though its disgusting and just makes him even more revolting and despicable, not enough people care about antisemitism in the UK for it to damage him.

People have made their minds up Corbyn. He can’t really poll any worse as a potential PM.

The army is there to fight. Imagine joining an organisation where the CEO refused to ask it to do the job it was there for. The employees would rightly think he was an idiot.

People in the armed forces have always seem themselves as upper class and against the terrible reds under the bed that they associate with Labour. This gets progressively stronger with the officers who associate Labour with anti royalist.

How do I know. When you have worked with them it is pretty obvious.

Pretty damning, but not at all surprising.

Jezbollah isn't antisemitic it's clearly a Zionist conspiracy.... Oooooh Jeremy Corbyn etc
I have a feeling labours (and particularly Corbyn) are going to get a lot of questions over this in any snap election... And to date they have done a really really bad job of dealing with it
