Some British soldiers threaten leader of the opposition

Are you for real?

They aren't a hit squad practising to eliminate a genuine target. They're a bunch of soldiers messing about because they have time on their hands.

It's a joke, they obviously don't like him and thought it would be funny. The most stupid thing about it is that someone thought it would be a good idea to stick a recording of it on social media.

While I agree it's a stretch. Pracitising to shoot a public figure like Corbyn is a terrible idea, these guys aren't robots following orders daily. They can snap just like any other normal person so it's hardly a good idea to be encouraging them to shoot at politicians. Alongside that its not a great message to send out to the public either is it? All it takes is one right wing nutter to see that video and think "well the army wants him dead! So i'll do it for England!".

I think some people don't actually understand the fragile state of the country right now. It's all just one big joke when the reality is that there are a lot of very angry people.

You'll have soldiers posing for selfies with Tommy Robinson next.
idk if you were refering to this...

Repeatedly calling him “Jezbollah” in a thread about the British army using the image if a sitting MP for target practice, in a month when he’s already been attacked by a member of the public, in a general climate where a Labour MP has actually been killed in such a way, after the national press has repeatedly encouraged the right wing to think of the left as traitors... is suuuuuper funny, btw. And doesn’t at all come across as one of those really pathetic jokes your boring mate’s dad in the pub just wont stop making, despite everyone rolling their eyes at him and slowly moving away.
This.

Oh they're absolutely being total wankers and should be punished for it. It's just totally ridiculous to pretend they're 'practising' to go and kill Corbyn. They're just messing about and somebody thought it would be a right laugh, that's it.

It's a crap message to send out, they're in uniform and representing the army, and they will likely be dealt with severely. What possessed them to think that was ok to put on social media I don't know, totally braindead.

What do you think soldiers do? Do you believe the adverts that make out they just tour the world and engage in humanitarian work?

Plotting, and training, to kill the leader of the opposition is a terrorist offence and should be treated as such. Any less and it shows where your banana republic is going by sanctioning this.

They're in an overseas camp training to kill a prominent British politician. Were there not calls from Tories to revoke the citizenship of people like that?

Are you actually serious here?

Was clearly referring to the idea that they're training to take out a specific target (Corbyn) but ok.

Perfectly aware that soldiers engage in combat roles, thanks.

Kin hell

They look like cadets to me.

They’re not. You’re not allowed to wear a para beret without passing out. Even in training they have to wear a green sticker thingie behind the cap badge.

Beggars belief how anyone can see no wrong in this.

These aren’t some blokes in a pub in Bromley having a laugh with a dartboard, this is the British Army (who are supposed to be the apolitical, impartial armed guardians of the nation) using a prominent British politician’s face as target practice.

I’m sure Jo Cox’s husband finds it hilarious.

Fair enough, cheers.

Do look awfully young in that case.

I'm sure Jo Cox's family are in hysterics. But she was labour so I doubt you care.
I didn't say I found it funny or that I agreed with it. I don't live in England so politics isn't clouding my judgment. I just don't really give a shit. Young men do stupid things - I'm not shocked.

Thanks for taking time out of your day to let us all know you don't give a shit about it. We appreciate it.

The poster he replied to was claiming that they were training to assassinate Corbyn and should have their passports revoked. It was certainly one of the more absurd posts on the CAF in recent times.

People have been putting faces of people they don't like on punching bags and dart boards forever. It's just juvenile fun and there is no 'encouragement' for anything. This is taking that a step further. There is no message other than juvenile prank in bad taste.

You do realise that people have been jailed for posting less offensive things than that on social media right? It could easily be seen as inciting violence/terrorism.

If this was civilians then I could accept it as a juvenile prank, but these are trained soldiers of her majesty's armed services. They are supposed to be apolitical, shooting a picture of the leader of the opposition is not juvenile, it's something that they should get reprimanded for.

Things like this are only a few steps removed from a military coup.

Yup, They should be reprimanded but that's it. Calling this as encouragement or even worse a precursor to a coup is just

I guess if the paras did stage a coup of the Labour party they'd make them more electable. They'd need their best men to take down the militant wing of the party mind, Momentum have some serious characters in their ranks.

Alright, maybe a bit over the top:nervous: But you get my point though.

They're being bellends and it's totally out of order for them to be doing that in uniform/uploading it, that's about as far as it goes. They aren't about to hold Corbyn's cat hostage.

I'd say it's only a few steps removed from holding Corbyn's cat hostage.

As soon as i saw the link i knew it would be the Paras :)

It's really just a bunch of kids trying to unwind in a situation more stressful than any of us will ever experience sitting in the comfort of our own homes.

Really interesting that in a world where Corbyn is called a threat to national security, a Marxist, an anti-Srmite and other sensational bullshit, that demanding action for state forces practicing to shoot him is where some people draw the line in sensationalism.

Yes I'm being deliberately OTT here, because every fecking media outlet in the country does it in response to Corbyn.

Civilian shooting ranges do not typically allow pictures of people to be used for target practice because of the allegorical implications it represents. Seeing as the British Armed Forces pledge their loyalty to the Crown and, indirectly, Parliament (who approves their funding), such an obvious show of disrespect for a member of said Parliament should certainly be a sackable offence.

If you're right here and they are stupid stressed kids who don't know any better, is it not a national scandal that the country is arming stupid kids and sending them overseas into situations where they make poor judgement calls? Your post is probably the most damning indictment of the army in this thread.

Weren't a bunch of soldiers being buddy with Yaxley Lennon?
Hope these cnuts get what's coming to them.

Indeed, the army are supposed to be neutral politically for obvious reason. This is a fairly blatant violation of that.

You clearly have absolutely no idea about how the Army works then. They get literal kids, take over their lives and wind them up tight. That's how they are so effective. With it come occasional slip ups like the one here, but its hardly the end of the world.

They’re just showing themselves up as being the scum that they are. But they aren’t actually planning on killing Corbyn, they’re just being idiots.

Well you don't think those who shot civilians in the head in Derry should be prosecuted so I'll take your view on Army accountability with a pinch of salt.
