So frustrating because the setup is brilliant and we've been pressing fantastically, but as per usual even when we get all that right the quality just doesn't seem to be quite there.

You can't win dangerous set pieces vs City and hit the first man every single time, you just can't.

Man City love to disrupt their opponents by fouling, usually prem refs dont punish it in order to leave the game flow, it doesn't really fly with CL refs, hopefully that'll mean they'll get knocked out by someone that can take advantage of their constant fouling.

The penalty was saved anyway, don't understand why you're making such a big deal about it.

Or it’s a pen. His arms is miles away from his body. It’s funny how the ref in the studio thought it was a pen, as did the ref on the pitch. But no, clowns like Jenas think he’d need to chop his arm off?

This 100%, when a team has 2 players sitting in front of a back 4 they are much better than when its 2 cb's vs 3 or 4 attackers most the time.

Spurs have been very good so far. Dominating the game. Probably deserve to be up.

I'm making a big deal if it for the same reasons I made a big deal of the Kimpembe decision. I think the rules as they are simply don't function with the realities of football, and I'm dreading these kind of decisions coming to the PL.

Fecking every other game seeing VAR super slow mo a players arm slightly moving upwards, get out of here with that nonsense.

You’ve had some excellent deliveries into the box.

I don’t think they’ve set up more conservatively (they did that at Anfield). You guys have been the dominant force in midfield and many times it’s been your players running at the back 4 plus Fernandinho. Regardless of Pep’s tactical variation, he never goes into a game with the intent of surrendering the midfield. That you guys haven’t scored is a combination of not making the final pass, and great defending (Delph and Otamendi stand out so far).

Yeah referees who have never played the game and that we all give shit to on a weekly basis, over one of our greatest defenders. Good one.

Also, for about the 10th time, I’m arguing that the current interpretation of the rule is wrong.
 
Definitely a pen for me. Arm blocks the shot and that’s a risk you take when sliding inside the box. Glad Aguero missed though. Come on Spurs!

14 CL titles in play tomorrow if memory serves :drool: Crazy to think that United/Barcelona/Ajax/Juve combined are only one ahead of Real Madrid in total.

Of course the refs think it's a pen. It is a pen by the current rules.

Those rules are stupid, and most footballers/ex footballers think they're stupid for a reason. This same old argument was had over the Kimpembe incident, yes by the letter of the law the ref has to give it, but it's still a rule that is completely out of touch with players.
 
The Last 3 penos faced by LLoris have been saved , something DDG needs to be improving on, doubt he’s saved 3 in his Utd career.
 
City has bought VAR. Terrible so far. I stopped watching after all the bloody corruption. All the easy draws they have got has probably been corrupt as well. fecking Liverpool as well even if I did expect them to win.

Madrid's 4 titles in last 5 years screwed the records. 11 CLs was still a huge number previously though.

The players have to deal with it.

If it stops players lunging in like that, with their limbs everywhere to get an advantage then it’s only a good thing.

The refs are there to apply the rules. The rule is out of touch and wrong, and the fact that nearly everybody who has played the game thinks that might suggest they have a point.
 
Clear pen. Throws his body in front of the ball arm flailing. Don’t dive in front of the ball if you don’t want to hit your arm.

It’s a pen and so was Kimpembe’s. The fact that people are still trying to make excuses is pretty tiring. Rose smacked the ball; learn how to slide tackle better or be in a better position so this situation wouldn’t happen to begin with.
 
City more cagey and careful than usual. Their full-backs barely go forward, their passing is very conservative.

Spurs lack cutting edge.
 
Yeah definitely a pen for me too. He slid down with his arm way up and the hand blocked the shot. Just like Kimpembe jumped and twisted and swung his arm out because of his body twist. You cant just look away and use the "accidental contact" excuse when going to block a shot if it hits your arm. Keep your arm tucked in. If its flailing out, it's a pen. Simple as imo.

He started with his arm out though. That's why it is a pen. What he should do is dont slide in with his arm way out.
