UEFA Champions League Quarter Final fixtures (9th - 10th, 16th - 17th April 2019)

Man, Ajax-Juventus was just bloody outstanding. Ajax were superb attacking-wise. They always looked to attack with the perfect nice pass, while Juventus showed a fantastic solidity.

The Scouse vermin are going to knock out Barca in the semis, aren’t they? FFS...

If they play like that, we've got a real chance. It all depends on the league.

Was Chiellini suspended tonight or just injured? Not overly keen on Rugani.

De Jong and De Ligt are the two most hyped players in the world right now and it still feels like they don't get anywhere near the recognition they deserve.

Insane how Ajax have two talents of this level coming up at the same time.

Clear penalty and second yellow to Tagliafico not given. Ref doesn't even check VAR... refs at this stage need to have some balls rather than give the call to the home team because the fans are loud.

Not a terrible result for Juve, could have been much worse.

Cancelo was incredibly bad aside from the brilliant assist.
Clear penalty? When was that?

Mental stuff on BT:

Interviewer (to Smalling): You were quite unlucky to pick up a yellow card. What?
Smalling: We created loads of good chances. What?
McTominay: That was an entertaining game to watch on the telly. What?

That being said, I thought United did ok in parts containing Barca but hardly created anything and are not in a good position heading to Barcelona. Seems a bit indicative of fallen standards the way this performance is being talked up.

When you want to watch the CL Highlights show & find out you have to put up with Michael Owen's "insight" for an hour.

Guess I'll just wait for the Ajax/Juve highlights on YouTube.

Ajax really played and had a lot chances to take this game, they definitely deserved a better result. Typical Juve on the other side, somehow they can always survive and squeak out results even when are out-possessed, out-chanced and out-played.

Right now I think Liverpool should be seen as the favorite to win the champions league. They have basically already qualified for the semi final and I hold them as favorites against us or Barcelona right now. On the other side I think all 4 teams could do well. Juventus with probably the best situation, but if City can turn it around against Spurs they might go all the way.

Okay, how is that not a free kick, but it would be a penalty?:lol:

Busquets should be gone and United should have a free kick.

Shortly after that incident, the ref awarded Barca a free-kick for a Shaw handball, then decided not to award United freekick after a Barca defender clearly handled the ball. All three handball incidents were practically identical.

The inconsistency is what aggravates people (especially @SquishyMcSquish :D) I mean there are no excuses when VAR is in effect as it was tonight, yet poor decisions are still occurring and it is proving costly.

The Shaw handball was nowhere near as bad as the Busquets one. Shaw had his hands by his side, while Busquets had his in the air while standing (not jumping).

Busquet's was more of a bookable decision than Rose's yesterday. Should've been right off.

Liverpool are a better team than City, Barca or Juve?

That's just crazy talk.

Wow what a game, what a lovely lovely game. Couldn't have asked more from the team, what lovely football. Yeah maybe a 2-1 win. But Juve are also very good with a very punishing attack as shown by Ronaldo. I had Juve as the favourites before this game, but now it's 50-50, maybe even better for Ajax. Because I can see them scoring at least once away, they don't care playing away and will play exactly the same and Juve didn't show the answers in this one. Ajax won't be like Atletico. Juve was a bit disappointing for their better quality on paper - Ajax pressured the hell out of them for multiple periods and they couldn't really cope, didn't have an answer except defend like hell under pressure. Not the most impressive game for Allegri. Even worse, his answer to De Jong was just shit, I was not impressed and more importantly neither was De Jong who ruled the game. It was weird to see Juventus lack the answers and discipline in that regard to nullify to De Jong, so lazy. Next game depends like this one and the Real madrid games who finishes best. If Ajax finish like in Madrid, they will go through. If they don't and Juve has the finishing in them, they can punish Ajax again. See you next week!

I honestly think if we & Barcelona do get through & the second leg is at Anfield that we'll have a damned good chance... At least I would say that if we weren't fighting for the league at the same time.

Barca vs Juve/??? final.

Will players getting their third yellow card of the competition in the next game be suspended for the semifinals?

I read yellow cards are wiped off after the quarters but not sure if the suspensions stand or not.

He could have seen red for sure, he was lucky he didn't.

Well, Liverpool have already won the league so why not let someone else grab the CL.

Share the wealth and all that.

It's the price we gladly pay for the most incredible AFTV meltdown of all time.
