It’s been there for approx 800 yrs. It’s a cathedral.The Cathedral has been there far longer. It’s about 850 years old whereas I’m fairly certain the Eiffel Tower went up in the 1800’s as an exhibit at the World’s Fair or something like that.
They were going to take the Eiffel Tower down after that but decided to keep it.
I'm aware of that, yet the Eiffel tower is the #1 national symbol of France today.
Man that's a sad, sad sight.
Devastated. Not only the building, but the cultural treasures inside, such a disaster.
Sad sight. My first major holiday with my wife was there.
Pfffttt...stop eulogizing. If they could put Dresden's Frauenkirche back together from a pile of rubble, this fire is nothing but a minor setback for Notre Dame.
They say it's related to the innovations. Imagine being the tit that forgot to unplug his iPhone charger and burned down the Notredame.
I don't really think it's considered the national symbol of France. Maybe a french person can clarify.
It's all the artifcats and pieces inside which are a concern though. Putting the building and the spire is doable.
To be fair, we do have loads of planes that drop water onto forest fires. Maybe that's what he is thinking of?
Commercially maybe, but if you ask people who live there, few would say so. The cathedrals and gardens are more treasured from my experience
Sadly, there was not even much left before the fire. Everything from 1200 on was looted or destroyed mostly during the aftermath of the French Revolution. Sad to see altogether.
