UEFA Champions League Quarter Final fixtures (9th - 10th, 16th - 17th April 2019)

Currently having a 'who can celebrate loudest' competition with my next door neighbour who is a) a knobhead and b) supports Spurs. I think I'm currently winning as I've cheered fecking loudly once more than his two times. Don't even care that much about the result. Spurs fans just get on my tits.

What was Trippier playing at for the first goal, stood back and admired Sterling, plus Alderweireld ducked out of the way of the ball, Trippier sleeping again for Sterling's goal at the back post.
If Spurs could defend they would be going through to the semis. Still might, but going to have to do it the hard way.

Because we're a United forum. Why the feck would we care about what Spurs or Chelsea are doing? The vast majority of fans on here are United fans. Of course we're going to compare ourselves to our biggest rivals.

Liverpool, in particular, have gone from strength to strength whereas we always seem to be setting new records every season - for the wrong reason. We shouldn't be several levels below these teams. We're Manchester United. Can't believe it needs explaining.
I know what you’re saying and I don’t disagree that we should be far better than we are.

But the “grumble grumble, fecking Utd” every time City or Liverpool score a goal, when we’re not even fecking involved, is tiresome.

And is it a Utd forum these days? Doesn’t feel like one. Feels like a footy forum populated by Chelsea, City, Utd, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal fans.

I don’t even rate Winks but Spurs are crying out for that sort of player. They just couldn’t control the game when needed - no one to hold the ball and settle things down.

Spurs may have to consider selling Kane. Son turns into a Messi/Ronaldo hybrid when he’s out of the way. They genuinely look a better side with him as the focal point.

Llorente sub was a disaster. Couldn’t be less suited to this game.

There’s another 3-4 goals here for City. Rose looks shot of confidence and Trippier is League of Ireland level. Spurs are toast.

Watching Liverpool really does my head in. 14 shots, no goals for Porto, then Liverpool go up the other end and score from their first shot.
That's what good team do though. They are able to still squeek out results even with a bad performance. That's basically Juventus mantra.

Poch made the classic blunder of thinking a big body up top will help take the pressure off by winning headers and shielding the ball. Llorente is too slow, and city's press is relentless

Now watch Llorente score the winner

Trippiers a rubbish defender, always has been.

I am scared that if City go out now, Liverpool will win the champions league.

It's the new dumb trend.

'haha spurs are definitely better without their world class striker because of a run of a few games'.

Nope, no we're absolutely not, he's amazing and our best performances always come with him leading the line. He'd be massive in this game as someone who would actually drop deep, offer some holdup play and calm shit the feck down.

True. I think whatever we did, we'd have been losing a lot of initiative.

Very disappointed with Trippier, Eriksen and Dele. If we'd kept it to 2-2....i can't see us stopping them from scoring another. The question is whether we can score again or not.
If City score first than you are fecked. Till that you will have space for counters. After that, you are fecked

That second City goal was unbelievable on Spurs’ part. Made it so easy.

I know there’s a lot of great players to mark but Bernardo’s in like 30 yards of space. Just when you need to focus too. Unforgivable.

Wrong sub. Should of brought Sanchez on and moved Vertonghen forward

Really hope Spurs or Ajax win the CL. I would genuinely be happy for both teams - although I'm sure @GlastonSpur would soon make me live to regret that. The winner of Barca-Liverpool has it won, for me.

I haven't been following this thread tonight. Has it essentially been 20pages of shite throwing at a smug then suddenly glum @GlastonSpur?

Barca people, Barca. They just beat us with playing in second gear, ffs. Liverpool will not see the ball against Rakitic, Artur and Busquets. And Messi... well Messi is Messi.

Yeah well, excuse us for being a tiny bit upset and grumbling about being a midtable team while our rivals are competing over winning a double or quadruple this season.

I think Poch has made a huge mistake putting Llorente on over Skipp. Not only does it significantly reduce your counter attacking threat which City were struggling to deal with but it forces you to put Alli back into a defensive minded role and he's a liability there. It's had consequences all over the entire park. The like for like sub was the way to go because the system was working.

I agree. This is what I have always said about Poch. He has not been losing title determining games because of a thin squad. He has been losing them because of poor in game management.

Seen the duck by Alderweireld and thought.. why not get your head on it?

City are great at dragging you across the pitch, and then suddenly you're forced to confront Sterling or Sane or Silva 1 on 1.

That worries me also, sitting here hoping Spurs win this, but also thinking it increases Liverpool's chances.
I just hope Ajax go all the way and make all this debate irrelevant.

:nono:

This game is done get Shaqiri and Sturridge on and get Salah and mane as far away from Pepe as possible

There’s some Liverpool fans in front of me and they keep celebrating like they’ve never seen the goal before every time it’s replayed.

Arms aloft shouting YAS.

feck off you cock

United went out pathetically 4 - 0 to Barca. At least Spurs are making a game of our tie.
 Just enjoy your own match mate, no need to be on here bickering with united fans during the biggest match for your club in ages.

I know. But having just scored you have to keep some discipline. It was way too easy.

We're an easy target at the moment.

Don't rise to the bait, just ignore it :)
