UEFA Champions League Quarter Final fixtures (9th - 10th, 16th - 17th April 2019)

So Barca it is then. Credits to the other 3 for reaching the semi's but it has a Barca win written all over it.

Oh that tweet :lol::lol:

Funny thing is my brother in law checked the score just as Sterling scored and didnt see the VAR so (him being Liverpool) both of us were pissed off City went through.

We got in the car and I checked my phone to see it was disallowed  and they are out and now the 2 of us are pissing ourselves laughing on the journey home.

Turned it off when the ball hit the back of the net for the disallowed VAR goal and went to the kitchen. Lit up a cig at the back door then put the radio on in there after a couple of minutes only for the commentator to say it's 4-3 and as things stand City are going out.

Didn't know what was going on.

Well played Spurs. Would like them to win it. I'm conflicted though because I started getting a nasty feeling Liverpool get past Barca and they would get all the luck in a final whereas I think City would have taken them apart.

That will teach them to boo the CL anthem

City will still win the league and still have the best team in the world

Not intentional pass, but intentional playing of the ball. Basically if a player is aware of the ball and goes for it then he in influencing the play and can make someone off side. Intentional pass would make it a pointless rule because then you could feign ignorance and say you were passing to someone else.
Ah cheers, was worried when I saw the replay the goal would be given.

Nevermind. Apparently I misunderstood the offside rule after a search.

Pretty sure there was recent changes and these never got called offside if the ball wasn't intentional, I might be going nuts though.

I was thinking this too. Gotta be something recent or I just never really knew the offside rule.....as a man :eek::eek:

Incredible game. Hats off to Spurs.

That weakened team Guardiola played in the first leg and Aguero's penalty miss came to bite them in the arse.

I looked that up too, because I thought something similar.

This is geniunely giving me a headache.

Not sure if there were some recent changes to that effect or if it's always been like this and I've watched football for decades without knowing it correctly.

Ajax or spurs are in the champions league final. Incredible story regardless of what happens.

Wow Poch has done an incredible job for them considering he did not spend very much compared to us and the rest of the top 6. New stadium too.

I hate this feeling of jealousy. It is going to be a painful few seasons for us..

What a game! Independently of how I feel as a United fan, Seeing the likes of PSG and City knocked out of the Champions League while Ajax is through warms my heart.

Ajax v. Spurs is going to be a giant party. Honestly just thrilled to be this far and to be playing them.

We will have 10+ flying from Vienna to the match, just to be there and with our Ajax brothers.

It was never that way? As long as it comes from the attacking team it's irrelevant whether it was intentional or not.

https://www.fifa.com/mm/document/afdeveloping/refereeing/5. law 11_554.pdf

This .pdf is old as feck, and it's very clear, "playing or touching the ball passed or touched by a team-mate"

I've watched and played football for decades, thousands and thousands of matches and I never knew the rule correctly then. What the actual feck, I was certain it wasn't that way.

The desperation I had for Spurs to beat City tonight will be matched by the desperation I have for City to beat Spurs on Saturday. Mental season.
