I am curious to know what Bran was doing while he was warging. Was the whole point of that moment simply for some cool editing by following the crows up into the skies to switch to the Dragons? Or was he going through time and looking at something specific? I'm pretty sure the eyes are the same when he's going back in time right?

I think it’s implied she has some sneaky shadow stepping speciality shit she’s showing. Hence the noise of the blood drops giving her away, but not her footsteps.

I mean, she rips the faces off dead people and takes on their appearance and mannerisms. Some soft stepping specialization shenanigans isn’t a big leap from there.
 
When the Dothraki died in like 10,20 seconds, the dread and the fear I felt for the characters was something else. They are all going to die, aren't they? That's the thought that was on my mind since that scene. So guess I was kind of relieved that the main characters didn't die but yeah I expected a few more of the main case to die

Don't really know how else they could have killed off NK, he's way too powerful to be killed in combat, he can just raise the dead and form an army in seconds. It had to be a sneak attack and maybe since it was a mere girl, the NK took her lightly, he was indeed very arrogant. Once they established that he couldn't be killed with dragon fire, it had to be something out of the box

For example because it also was never established that killing the king pin would obliterate every single undead fiend. Also not a single 1st tier protagonist died, even amidst the thickest of fighting.

You basically have to split this show into two eras. The Martin era then the post-Martin era. They're very different shows. Some characters are just unrecognisable and are acting in ways that just doesn't make sense. And of course the plot armour that has been widely discussed. Bit of a shame how it's gone really but there we are. Still a good show of course.

And how did 40.000 dothraki screamers die in like 20 seconds? First of all it was stupid chargeging straight into the enemy army instead of drawing the enemy in and then flanking them or attacking them from behind with cavalry. But yeah how did 40.000 Expert fighters only last 20 seconds? Mindless wights shouldn't that Quick in killing master warriors.

I said the same thing to the Mrs, we see him warg into the crows yet nothing after that. He was doing something, but whether or not we find out what, is something to be unsure about. I mean they went all Snoke on the NK so I doubt they are that bothered about explaining much from here on in.
 
Rewatching and the Dothraki's face when they actually run into the dead is priceless. A brief moment of realisation that he's about to die. And Jorah's hint of tears when he gets back.

I got the speed element because of the wind blowing the white walkers hair and the sound effect used. It reminded me of the Flash.

Soft stepping is fine, but my interpretation was she was already running past the white walkers at some speed. I guess she simply sprinted hard past the white walkers and jumped in, it just seems very amateur hour by the white walkers to allow that to happen is all. But she's a super assassin so I guess we just have to let it fly, I just wish we saw other assassins doing this type of stuff in previous Seasons to give Aryas ability some perspective. For all we know she's the greatest Assassin they've ever had, or they're simply that good. Right now it seems like an easy way for the writers to get out of situations.

The NK likes to play games with his prey, we saw that with Jon Snow and with Dany, so I'm guessing when he saw this little girl with her tiny knife jump at him, he didn't consider her to be that big of a threat. You puny being, you think you can take me down? That sort of thing

I agree with you on the lady Mormont thing but then again, the giant was literally crushing her in his hands. For a sec I even felt has it was going to bite her head off or something.

Same here. First half was more or less pitch black on my TV.

I agree with the ones saying that one should just annoy it, and not get too hung up in the writing. Season 7 sort of ruined the "realism" in the writing in the sense that i) it was impossible for main characters to drown and ii) the handful of men who went north of the wall too easily held off the army of the dead. It continued with this episode where the Dothraki were killed within seconds and every other main character was near on invincible.

I do struggle to see what the point with Bran and the three eyed raven is now, though. He seemed to very little of a role except being bate for this one, so what it his real role in the series finale?

Think it was poor writing imo. Based on Theon's view that was quite a fair distance to where whitewalkers were standing. They could have gone about it different ways.
 
Also, I'm totally cool with Arya dealing the killing blow. But not at all with the fashion in which it happened. Let him somehow engage in a battle of minds with Bran, make him distracted and by extension also the Walkers around him (if we have to go with the NK = drone command center thing, make it an element of the show before his death), or throw also in Jon for additional mayhem, and THEN you have a situation where a stealthy assassin can deal the one fatal attack. The faceless men aren't even known to be invincible berserkers on the battlefield, it's when weird accidents happen to people that their involvement is suspected.

Well it served the purpose of not having to use them and therefore cutting costs (i'm a cynic). But it did also add real tension when you watched it from Jon/Daenerys' perspective and you saw the flames going out. But why Jon greenlighted that plan is beyond me, he knows by doing that he just gave the NK a huge boost in army size. He saw what can happen at Hardhome, so why the hell did he think that was a good idea? At least go in with both Dragons providing backup but instead they stood up on a hill watching. What the feck!? I can only assume that was a Tyrion plan :p
 
I loved that episode but I get why people are upset/disappointed because the first 30 minutes were absolutely intense. It felt like it was the end for everyone and it was seriously tense but there was a fair bit of plot armour after that. Still great TV though. Music was also beautiful.

Theon's death was the saddest part, and I kind of thought he'd be the one to take down Euron (who is kind of a substitute Ramsey.) I have a feeling that it might not be over with the whole Night King storyline though as there's still something up with Bran and his relationship with the king. At any rate i'd be very surprised if the last 3 episodes are just about the battle with Cersei. She has to win a battle where she thinks she is safe but "her joy will turn to ashes in her mouth' and she'll die. That leaves the final battle to be either Jon vs Dany or something else.

The best solution to that would have been Arya using the trees to get in and strike. The problem is that from Theons view there was only one tree and a big empty space around it, and given that the wind blew past the White Walkers we know she was on the ground.

If would have been excellent if they had changed it up slightly and had a 2nd tree and had Bran/Arya climbing them way back in Season 1.

Thought about the tree but then it wouldn't have made sense with the pre-fight of Theon with army of dead. Personally i would have liked Jon fighting and losing and Arya then getting involved with a similar killing move. Not sure if you get what i mean.

Btw where did Bran warg to for so long?
 
Just watching it again. Does arya not give the dragonglass dagger to sansa about 10 mins in?

I kind of think if they wanted the WW storyline to end at Winterfell they should have teased us more. It didn't look like Winterfell was being attacked on all sides, so you could have had horses on the opposite side ready to flee. You get some sad music playing as you watch some of the main characters + survivors riding off. Leaving the civilians in the crypt alone and some main characters stranded, now it start to looks like those fleeing will survive. Which provides more meaning to those that decide to stay behind and give those fleeing a chance to survive. Some main characters flee, some stay. That puts even more emphasis on Theon staying. You could have some horns go off which indicates "everyone retreat".

It provides the viewers with thinking there's an alternative out and those staying in Winterfell are fecked. Anyone with a brain knew 40mins in that the NK would lose because this was the humans last stand, if the NK won 95% of the characters would have died. Thus the tension was lost.

Head bite would have been better and less cringey, but still at keast she went out hardcore style and her family went down fighting.


Obviously budget reasons, but only having 1 giant and no WW action was jarring though. Also, no zombie Hodor :(

It was great television. They built up the tension so high that when she did her little trick with the dagger I was screaming yes at the tv like a mad man. This was in the early hours of the morning with my neighbours next door.
 
Is there no need for spoiler tags now? This thread is littered with loads of spoilers just out there in the open for those people that I’ll never understand that go in to threads of shows without being up to date.
