I thought it was an incredible 80 minutes of TV. I could nitpick so much of it but what's the point? We will likely never get anything of that scale on TV again so feck it. It was proper bonkers amazing entertainment.

Well yeah, but it was still better for me than Jon or the useless Dany.
Now the way it happened could have been a lot better, but still, at least it wasn't Jon as expected.

Guess how the whole thing will finish now is kinda known. Honestly I never really cared about the "game of thrones" regarding the Iron Throne, what has always interested was the N.K and his army, the reasons behind his actions and everything linked to it. GOT is officially over for me.
Three episodes left, don't be so lazy. You'll be getting scouted by United with that attitude.
Basically since the first episode. I love that Arya was the one that killed him because she's my favourite character, but yeah, not like this. I'm with you on being disappointed.
And i don't get people saying that "this isn't the main battle", or "it's the side plot". They've literally been going on about this since episode one. Adversaries have joined forces with one another. Families and factions who have been at war with each other for decades or centuries have fought to the death for each other. It seems like a pretty big deal to me. I know the show has always been about the political machinations, but this seemed like a pretty big deal from the get go.

Was this the first episode you watched? He wanted to erase mankind, and Bran (the three eyed raven) IS the memory of mankind as he knows all that's happened.

I can imagine that Cersei, being the sneaky type, will not have simply been sitting back in KL but mobilise her army to pounce on whichever side wins the battle in the north. After all, either side would be at its weakest immediately after the battle.
Therefore, I can imagine she marches (or ferries) her Golden Company up north and promptly starts battering the remnants of Jon/Dany's armies. Drogon is probably still recovering from the fight, and she has Ballistae and Scorpions as anti-air weaponry anyway.
Cersei beats Jon/Dany, who have to continually retreat further and further north - beyond the (remnants of the) wall. Now, old Branflakes is the only one who knows the secret of how the Night King/White Walkers were created, and such will their desperation be that eventually, he will tell them the only viable solution to the existential threat posed by Cersei - that they must make a new Night King. Enter Jon Snow.
The cycle repeats, the circle continues. A bittersweet ending indeed.

Seriously though, I won't mind reading and spoiling myself the last 3 episodes, the battle for Iron throne is very trivial and pointless to me.

Bran has been playing everyone the entire time and the Night King was actually a good guy who was trying to save everyone by killing Bran, because future Bran fecks stuff up and brings on the apocalypse

Same for me. The zombie thing was dull as dishwater to me. Zero interest in the motivations of the Night King, their whole schtick is being devoid of spirit and humanity so I’m not sure what motivations they’re supposed to have beyond wanting to destroy humankind anyway.
I enjoyed the episode, thought it was epic but boy did I know that the CAF was going to go bitchtits over it.
Looking forward to The Game of Thrones resuming. Cerci is a much better villain than the vapid and expressionless NK anyway.

Hmm, I'm not sure. The broad strokes ending of the show is lifted straight from the books. If it holds in both that the WW's defeat come first followed by the fight for the throne then the show/books can't have ultimately been building towards that as the crux of the story.
It might be that the idea of humans being a greater threat to each other than external existential threat was what the show/books were always actually building towards. Or maybe not, it's hard to say what's deliberate and what's just bad storytelling at this point. The next few episodes might make it clearer.
personally I thought they foreshadowed a lot of characters dying that didn't die. I'm not saying that's a bad thing It just meant that I was fearful for far more characters than actually died. I thought it added to the spectacle.
Exactly. I also think the visuals regarding the death/defeat of the NK were terribly done, I mean he was the leader of the army, he should have been given a bigger death, with better effects. It felt too ordinary, Theon's death was better
The bar scene has to be a fecking wind up and someone edited it to include that scene and they’re actually watching an NFL game or some shit That makes your average Star Wars nerd look reasonable.

I agree. Night King was a bit like Sauron in my eyes. Just a one-dimensional baddie. There's a reason his total screen time in the whole series was probably less than Hot-Pie.
I was really starting to get the feeling that was about to happen.

The dothraki bit was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen and the NK's death did feel anticlimactic but otherwise I thought it was a really fun and well made episode.
If Samwell Tarly tries bragging about his accomplishments again I swear to god somebody better kill him. The only reason that useless feck has killed a thenn or a white walker is because he stabbed them in the back or got lucky, he spends 90 percent of his time running, squealing or getting someone else killed as they save him. Or all three at the same time.
I think people still complaining need to accept the writing is not going to go back to before. It's hollywood style fun now, once you embrace that (which I kind of have) you can enjoy it for what it is. It's basically an entirely different show to the early seasons.

I get you but I felt since the show writers have basically parted ways with the book's material in many instances, maybe their biggest focus would have been on the ending of this particular war. I'm glad it's over now, the last 3 episode will be a chore now.
