Champions League Semi Finals (30th April - 8th May)

Which one of these Ajax stars do you think will flop? Surely not all of them will succeed at the next level. Some are benefiting from the environment style of play and players around them.
The ones we will buy.

Damnit got beaten to it

Spurs look far better since the formation switch. I think they underestimated the value of Tadic in outnumbering them in the middle. Sissoko making a good difference since.

Ziyech. Doesnt have the mentality for the pressure and criticism you receive at the top.

Also vd Beek. He's been sensational this season, but he's not a world beater I think.
Thats what I mean I feel they are all playing amazing as a Unit but individually only 2 or 3 will be a top level player while the others just simply fit the system like a glove.

That Coral advert. Just represented the whole Man Utd fan base.

We came in to the game at the end and could easily have been level. When Sissoko came on the momentum started to shift.

Ajax are excellent at pressing and dominating the ball, but they are vulnerable defensively. We're just incapable of taking advantage of that due to the players who are absent, they're getting a free pass basically.
It looked mostly like showing to much respect to Ajax the first half our l. Even with Injuries this Spurs side isnt worse than Ajax. You just shouldnt try to play their game. Make it a physical battle and they will fold.

Fc Groningen couldve had a draw against them easily last week and they're very much shite. They just manhandled em.

I have a lot of admiration for Ajax, great city, great club and they play really nice football. I hope they win it.

Neres is talented but he should probably stick around. I can see him making a move to a team like Arsenal and being underwhelming
I feel the same I dont see a lot of end product in him though he is clearly talented. He looks like a confidence player the type to need to feel loved.

Neres and Ziyech are the most likely as they seem to be the most mercurial

De Jong and De Ligt are generational talents. I can see Van de Beek flopping in the wrong environment

Possibly. I do think what I referred to earlier has had an impact, we're missing the players who take the game by the scruff of the neck and drive us forward. Mentally the impact of missing your star attackers can be huge, you're immediately starting on the backfoot.

But also, Wanyama and Llorente are being hideously exposed. Especially the former who simply cannot cope.

I agree with all of this for sure. What do Ajax fans on here think?

Poch goofed up with the approach before introducing Sissoko, as much as his love camp won’t admit it.

He has seen their game and before the sub was playing in their hands. Absentees or not.

Their basic technical level of each player is not only higher but they play like a proper team, if you do ad these 2 things it makes it for a very beautiful football team.

It's depressing to watch. We don't look like a football team in comparison.

Did you feel confident when the 3 CBs ? I hate this formation as it weakens midfields unless you have great ones playing there

I think even Llorente can be effective against Ajax. Psv beat Ajax 3-0 this season by hoofing it to Luuk de Jong for 90 minutes. And Luuk is a similar big and strong player who has no business on a football pitch when looking at his technique.

Still he's obviously no Kane and i think Son might be an even bigger miss.

Nah. It's worked once this season that I can remember (vs dortmund) and otherwise has been hugely ineffective.

I think Spurs football is very weird. Its like watching pinball or bumper cars, football just ceases to exist and turns into bodies clashing all over the pitch and they score in these weird scrambles or set pieces. Not sure if its good or bad just weird.

Spurs fans making it out like Llorente is some pub player :wenger:

He's not Kane, but useless? Come the feck on

Luuk de Jong is probably better than Llorente tbh. Also, it's not necessarily just the lack of technique, it's his lack of any pressing ability. Basically down to ten off the ball which against a side like Ajax is suicidal.

Son is such an annoying miss because of the stupid suspension rule.

If people are going to continue to act like missing world class players will have no impact on a team like Spurs, then clearly it's going to continue to be talked about.

You have at least one in Eriksen. Who's world class in this Ajax team?

This. It's not a good game to watch.

Ajax much better as I expected, but Spurs are still very much in this tie. Their physicality and opportunism are problems for teams like Ajax. That's how they got past City. Tottenham and Liverpool are top sides, but I simply don't like the style of football the play. Hopefully it will be Ajax-Barcelona final.

I think he's quite comfortably the worst back up or 2nd striker of the top 6.

They’re being quite small time I will admit. At least you lot took being outplayed by a team with a fraction of your resources on the chin, they’re fighting tooth and nail that they’ve been hard done here
