Internationals June (Euro Qualifiers + Nations League Finals)

I really hope we sign Bruno. The whole can he play with Pogba nonsense sounds just that. Reminds me of a more skillful Herrera, tenacious, likes a tackle, good on the ball, nice cross and shot. A few mistakes yes but I like what I see.

Portugal RB is meh at both ends. How is he playing for Barca.

We're playing well, Santos got it right. It might be our best half of football in the past 2 years.

With Van Dijk blocking everything it's going to be very tough to score here though.

You lot are dominating us badly. We have so little creativity to deal with your pressure. Painful watching.

I was a competition that contained The Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, England, Germany, Iceland, Poland, Croatia, France, Belgium, Italy and Spain. The games were played in a very competitive manner, despite the naysayers claiming to the contrary. To come third is fantastic for England and continued progress. We beat Spain and Croatia to win our group. OK the game against Switzerland was a foot off the gas a bit but I think winning a penalty shootout was good for us, especially having so many different players scoring across this one and the one in the World Cup. The pressure was off in this one but it will give those players that little bit more confidence if they have to take one in a bigger game.

I think the competition will grow in prestige. Some of group games were brilliant because of the way the mini leagues were set up it disincentivised stinking the place out. Add to that you only had the top sides playing each other and there was very little spoiling.

I think the problem for it going forward in England is that it's on subscription TV so it won't be an event the nation watches. I think football fans will watch it because the quality of the games have been so good for the above mentioned reasons.

Great post, agree with it all. I found it strange when fans were dismissing it

The fact your defense is so solid is balancing things out. We’re playing better but still no big chances.

Will be interesting to see what Koeman does at halftime.

This keeps up Ronaldo will find the net at some point Im sure. We wil have to hope for a corner or something.

Still not understanding this fascination with Guedes. I’d love to see what Diogo Jota could do alongside Ronaldo in the way this Portugal team is set up.

So, England fans.
Was this a glorified friendly or a worthy competition? I keep seeing conflicting views.

Edit: I should add if it were wales who Made it Into the top pool and then this friendly knock out next year I’m sure we would have liked to win it and treated it a bit more serious than a friendly

More serious than a friendly, less serious than a qualifier. It's an international Community Shield or Super Cup. I'd rather win it than not but it's no big deal.

Fair description, yes

It’s nothing like those two competitions given you play 6 games against top quality opposition to win it. The tension has been far higher than you get in qualifying games too. only cliffhanger final qualifying games would compare.

It isn’t like the Confed cup either because that has a paucity of top sides in it.

Is Van Dijk the one commentating? That first half was all Van Dijk this, Van Dijk that ffs

it's a lot better than the friendlies

I mean, at least there's a reason to win

One of them said Ronaldo is avoiding him staying on the left.

Well, if you ever watch Ronaldo play before.. Not that Van Dijk is a shit player. It was just weird.

That's what it was designed to be, a replacement for all the pointless friendlies and it's been a sucess. Kudos to UEFA.

Still nowhere near the Euros or World Cup but it was not designed to be so that's not a knock in anyway.
