The result doesn't bother me too much as I said before the season started we wouldn't get top 4, anyone that thought this squad had enough for that was delusional IMO. The thing that has disappointed me in the last few games is there's no style of play in effect anymore, the pressing has gone, the quick movement has gone, we've got the two washed up has-beens back starting, basically if you watched this game without knowing there had been a manager change you'd think Mourinho was still in charge, I don't see any gameplan or identity in our play, and that's compounded by the lack of quality, when even Neville says we need 4 players that will all cost £100M you know how bad the side is.

To be fair, I try to think about a pro active style with hacks like Mata, Matic and Young in the team and I can't see it. We play Periera out wide, who is no winger. No creativity or talent in midfield, or top strikers in the squad. Our only strong point is our defence, and we have been a bit unlucky in that part.

I expected us to be top of top by Dec as we are probably lingering at 8-12 in the table with at 15-20 points off the leaders. Ole has a vision but he does not know how to get there. I know it's all doom and gloom when we lose like this but I thought we were ok in parts but a little light up front. So I retain some hope.

I do wonder if Andreas will ever demonstrate what he'a apparently able to do that keeps him in the team, surely he's capable of more than we witness on match days. Mata is a bit light and I thought that second goal was not even a legit free kick. De Gea makes me nervous these days..seems to miss savable stuff and we're investing a fortune in him.

So, I don't see any alternative than sticking with the program for this season -- give Ole another window, blood the youngsters and try a more attacking game. Let's take a serious look at this over a season and determine if this path offers a decent future. If not, then the questions will be asked about who can do better but change for change sake is not going to help.

We lost today not due to tactics or effort (for the most part...) but due to a lack of quality. Fill those gaps in the next two windows and we will look a lot better.

What most frustrates me is the continual reliance on has beens like Mata and Matic. I get why, as we cannot just throw the kids out there continually and expect results - it's just painful to watch.

At least Mata tries but Matic is a geriatric has-been who can't be arsed to press, which cost us the first goal today.

Rashford yet again a liability - still desperately want him to come good but he seems to nearly always make the wrong decision.

When those three were off the pitch we looked a lot better - some nice quick tempo passing. Just wish Fred could learn how to not place basic passes out for a throw in on a semi-regular basis.

For what it’s worth, I think even a world class manager would struggle at a club that spends its money with such staggering incompetence. But does anyone seriously think Ole is a really too class manager? We never would have thought of him as one at Molde and it doesn’t look like he’s turned into one over the last 10 months.

Aye, I think a top drawer elite manager would struggle this season with such a poor squad.

Watching that it just seems like some of these lads just don’t know how to play football at this level. I mean there was an abundance of terrible passes but it’s the decision making that really just frustrates me.

Now I don’t want to single out McT because overall I thought he was decent but 1 occasion. He beats his man and there is a pass on that would cause danger to West Ham and he can move in to a better position. Instead he beats another man, again a pass opens up for him to cause damage to West Ham. Ignores it, tries to beat a 3rd man and loses the ball.

Later the ball comes to him and he can play an easy first time pass to Bissaka that opens West Ham up. Instead he decides to take on his man, he beats him but then straight after he gives the ball to Bissaka.

Now it’s harsh to call him out as it’s great he feels he can take on people and he did but sometimes the best thing is the easier option. Nothing might have come from him passing to Bissaka first time but it would have given Bissaka an extra bit of time and space to try and do something.

The problem is there are issues like this all over the pitch you watch someone like City and Pool and a lot of the time they just do the simple thing and it’s devastating. Our guys spend way too much time flaffing about on the ball.

I’m guessing Rashford was injured before the game but honestly can’t believe he didn’t at least get a shot away on that one where he had broke free. I was expecting him to just put that bottom right.

We desperately need Martial back. Someone who has a bit more guile in the final 3rd and can hold up the ball at least and isn’t so 1 dimensional.
