Question Time & This Week

Girl in crowd asks perfectly valid question about truth and accountability. Fiona moves right past it.

The next question is about truth and accountability and Fiona says she’s not happy with questions about truth and integrity because they get them every week.

She then reframes the question into a highly loaded one about Labour’s manifesto and the IFS report and throws it straight at Andy McDonald.

Tbf, no idea on the split of votes in Swindon, but at least a refreshing number of the audience have slagged Johnson for his lying.

Yeah it’s the first one I’ve watched more than 10 minutes of for a long while. Its refreshing that it’s not loaded with Brexitgronwivits

Seriously though, Fiona is cock blocking every single question about Tory integrity.

She brought up the Warsi comments to shoot that awful American author down.

Highlighting Islamaphobia in the Tory party is basically campaigning for the Tory party at this point.

I’ve been watching for 15 minutes, who the hell is that author?

She’s an old moose. She tried claiming that the NHS is benefitting from the American Health care system and that we’re not paying our fair share and they have to pay more as a result.

Completely ignorant to the real reason Americans pay more and who actually benefits from that. It’s also kind of rich that she’s essentially crying over the buying power of the NHS and by extension free market economics as it means zilch that it’s a public service to the American pharma companies, to them it’s a huge company with buying power of a magnitude they don’t like having to deal with.

There was that girl, near the start, who actually pointed out that the referendum wasn't legitimate. She has her head screwed on.
That goth had her head screwed on.

The audience does mirror working class leave voters elsewhere. They accept and understand that Tory austerity has hurt them and that the party couldn't give a feck about Hull, but they're so blinkered by their hatred of Socialism and Corbyn, plus obviously leave. It's still weird to watch.

Well the referendum itself was non partisan so their leave vote at that point had nothing to do with Corbyn.

Why are northern Labour working class so anti EU?

I have no urge to watch question time. I used to watch it until I started watching propper debates regularly on youtube. You have a panel of 5 (often stale) people on this show and also 5 or 6 questions they each have to answer, along with audience subquestions/interjections. There's just not enough time for anyone to make a make a decent point and then for their opponents to rebut it in any depth.

Ah, I used to love Central Weekend! Now that was a proper debate show.

Not watching but saw this clip. What an odious, hate-filled woman

I’ve just watched that. What a vile opinion to have. Who would she blame if the country did close it’s borders and the problems got worse?

The extremely poor I imagine, I suspect she thinks they are all benefit cheats.

Saw the clip of Ash Sarkar responding to that woman and that was great as well.

Yeah I’m not a great fan of Sarkar but she responded well. The woman muttering ‘not true’ as she spoke about the benefits of migration shows she has no desire to have her views challenged. She’s clearly a racist and quite awful woman.

Came to this thread to see if this witch had been posted I wasn't disappointed.

An argument can be made to say increasing population necessitates more building, and when that isn't sufficient it will cause more overcrowding and lower standards of loving. However, when its proven immigrants contribute more per capita to the tax man than 'native' citizens, any lack of infrastructure is the fault of the Government.

How does one educate this woman?

Honestly? You take her right out of her bubble and you force her to actually live, work and socialise amongst the people she villainises. I guarantee that her reaction would be one of absolute shock. "Well the ones I met were actually all really nice people" .
