League Cup 2019/20 | Semi finals: Man Utd v Man City, Leicester City v Aston Villa

6 hour flight to Qatar. He leaves at midnight tonight, sleeps on the plane and has the whole day with the squad tomorrow.
Or he could have had some of his first teamers stay back. With all due respect to Monterrey I don't think he would need a full strength side to beat them. Could have kept the likes of Shaqiri, Lallana and even Firmino back for this. But I don't blame him for totally giving up on this competition, but it just doesn't set a good precedent. It's funny how Klopp in his time at Pool so far has not bothered to field a strong line up in the cup competitions.

Villa going with B-team. What a disaster from them too. I guess they just want to save the contract, but doing well in the cup could give them a boost. Hope they go down.

This must be the worst lineups ever in a league cup quarter final. I am pretty sure Colchester woulld smash them both.

While I don't disagre with the last sentence in general, it's bollocks to criticize him for this. We put all our eggs into the basket which we deemed most important/prestigious, and rightfully so. If they want us to compete in both competitions, they should find us suitable dates or just don't bother. You can't expect a team to play two games on different continents in 22 hours with a 7-8 hour journey in between.

Draw is worth a bet.

It isn't, Villa are still value. It's a bad u23 side against a rotated Prem side. If Villa play well it'll be 4/5. Pool can't defend at all, struggled defensively in UYL and in the u23s this season. Salz could have scored 5 against them last week.

Villa team is rotated but it's still decent enough. Experienced side with a bit of quality in it.

Like I said I particularly don't blame Klopp for this instance. He had to act accordingly and he did that. I was just pointing out even generally during his time as Pool manager, maybe bar his first season, he has fielded a weak starting line up in domestic cup competitions. I don't personally agree with that approach, of course he has won you a CL so who cares about domestic competitions but if you are to be a dominant club in your country it is always good to try winning everything.

Yeah I see what you're getting at, the last sentence is true. However I think most if not all City fans would trade the League Cup and FA CUp for a CL last year, probably even their 100 point season. As long as it brings us a Premier League trophy, Klopp can do whatever he wants in the domestic cups for me.

You could see a Liverpool win a mile off even before that villa team

4-0 to Liverpool. Anything less is complete failure.

Feck me could’ve/should’ve been in front after that.

Elliott looks a class above the others already.

Arsenal should be ashamed of getting knocked out to a Liverpool C team.

Luck always evens itself out over the course of the season. It is known.

I gotta say I'm impressed with the balls on Klopp to come with a starting lineup AND bench with virtually no experience. Watch them win and us lose even though we ll probably still have some of the big guns out tomorrow.
Too much negativity mate.

Oh feck off. Scoring flukes now. This is what it must have felt like to watch Bolton earlier this season for the fans.

Deflection or not that was a nice goal:)

It's the opposite of balls. He literally fled the country in fear of this Villa side.

Did Liverpool really have to take the likes of Lallana and Shaqiri with them? Couldn't they have played tonight?

Why did they move the league game? Could have just played these kids against West Ham too.

I think you're required to name a 23 man squad for the FIFA World Club Cup thing.

fecking Scouse bastards. fecking typical. The ill-luck their kids are getting tonight wouldn’t happen in five years with their first team with the fortune they’ve enjoyed over the last while.

Wankers.
