Hating Lingard

In all of his matches in the Premier League, 129 of them by the way, he's scored only 17 goals and made 10 assists, that means he's been directly involved in over 102 matches for us in the League where he's done virtually nothing on either the wing or as a #10, now you could argue other people are at fault for the assists being so low

Total through balls - 29
Big chances created - 18
Cross accuracy - 16%

I mean i could go on, for anyone that likes stats, for an attacking player, he's garbage.

James Maddison by the way, has only played 56 in the league and already has 10 assists and 13 goals, he's also created 18 Big Chances, and his total through balls is 36

Nobody can or should be defending him, he's 27 ffs.

And again, even though you keep ignoring the question, what qualities does the useless little git bring, he cant pass, can't score, can't tackle, hides from the ball, causes moves to break down time after time after time, but he's English and runs a bit. He is utterly hopeless and about as welcome as a fart in a space suit. In the 30 odd years I've been a utd supporter I've not seen a more pointless player. When he starts it's like beginning the match with 10 men. He played for England, the same england that hasn't won anything of note in over 53 years and regularly started Emile sodding heskey..... WOW he MUST be good then.

Haha.
I think it's a bit harsh, but I do agree that playing with Lingard is like playing with 10 men.
For this, I blame Ole for picking him.
I've said it before, but Lingard would do well in the Championship.
Ole on the other hand, would not do well in the Championship. League 2 or below is about his level.

I’ve never seen a Utd attacking player who plays regularly have such poor stats, nor regress so much so fast... and he’s in his prime years. Imagine a conversation with someone who doesn’t watch football sees those JD Sports or Lynx adverts

”Hey, who’s that guy I keep seeing?”
”That’s Jesse Lingard, he plays for Manchester United and England”
”Wow, so he must be like a really good player or something if he’s getting on ads... like Beckham right?”
”Uh well...”

We can talk football all we want but lets not get to insulting one of our own. It might be the time to sell him, we'll see, I trust the manager to make bold calls but as it is now it's not like Ole is putting Lingard over someone excellent just for the sake of Lingard. He is not having a good season, maybe it's his last, but he has won some things here with us, I think he gave it his all even if his all wasn't good enough but if and when he goes we should wish him well and not send him off with insults, that's uncalled for.

I can give my all even if it is not good enough. Play me then

I dont hate him. On form hes a decent player. Works hard pressing and links up forwards play well and also used to chip in with some nice goals. always played his part in counter attacks. He was never technically brilliant but not as bad as painted. You dont get to be an England regular if you are useless. He was a hero when he scored the winner in the FA cup final.
its sad hes lost all form and confidence, who knows what his mental health is like. Maybe a change of club will do him good Or at least a break from the first team squad.

Can't bring myself to hate a United player but have we ever persisted with a player so obviously useless for so long? This is more than a dip in form.
If ole isn't seen to be patient and supportive to a player with proven ability, then it hardly sends a good example to the board who have a similar decision to make regarding his own future. Perhaps Oles fate is inextricably linked with Jesse's. In a funny kind of way.

Lingard's form and his overall impact has recently gone backwards, there is no doubt about it and Ole keep playing him isn't helping. Jesse's greatest strength is his running without the ball . Against packed defences Lingard can cause havoc with his 'breaking the line' and diagonal runs, causes confusion and opens up space for others to exploit. However he is not a natural finisher and defensively he is weak, so when his off the ball running is not working, when others are not taking advantage of the space provided, then he is more or less a passenger.

Jesse can and does drift in and out of games, but he's not on his own there, he needs to be taken out and to refresh his approach. The clowning about and his off the field antics have at times made matters worse. Making an a**e of yourself is OK when you are delivering on the pitch, when you are not, it is fatal and is what leads to the 'hating tag' that should, in my opinion, never be applied to a United player, by a United fan.

He was never a great player, but he definitely did a job once upon a time. It is so frustrating watching him participating in United’s really poor displays this season because we are frustrated as supporters and he is not contributing.

My anger though, is at the organisation and management of the football club that have let the squad quality sink to this level and constantly make stupid appointments and poor decisions at boardroom level that don’t help players fulfill their potential, whatever that may be.

I am not going to be angry at a player who is trying his best and obviously has some issues in his personal life. He never really had the quality to be a starter for United, but there was a time where he would have easily started for all the bottom half teams, and done well.

His fall from grace has been sad and this calendar year has been awful for him. He needs to move on, but it’s the management that need to move him on and sort it out.

While City had Pep removing Hart before he had even managed a game, United have Lingard, Jones, Mata, Rojo, Shaw and the gang, still getting paid big money for doing very little years and years on from when that became obvious. But were they even given a proper chance? Now, some of the above could have helped themselves (eg Shaw and his weight issues), but I just feel like the club haven’t maximized the potential of their investments. We would have got 30 million for Lingard once upon a time, we would be lucky if we got 5 now

Lingard is the story of just one player who has never been properly coached (bar under LVG when he showed some promise), and let down by inept management from above.

If changes aren’t made, Martial, Rashford, AWB, James and the current gang, will be tomorrow’s sad stories.

No, it isn't uncalled for, he is in the worst prolonged spell of form Ive ever seen from a utd regular, is still happy to take an obscene salary for providing NOTHING, to use utd to build his profile to Schill his atrocious crappy merch, and has the nerve to give interviews about how he has turned a corner and what United should he doing. He is everything I despise about the modern game and the only reason I call him a useless git is because if I said what I really want I'd get banned.he is a talentless hack who's priorities are fame and money and quite frankly his actions and form are an insult to every utd supporter who pays for tickets, sky subscriptions and anything else that provides money to the club. I support the club, not individual players, and especially not players who take the piss. I dont wish him well, I dont wish him harm, I just wish he was someone elses problem.

To be fair, the worst thing about this thread is it's title.
It's incendiary and a dodgy attempt to convince people to side with Lingard, as if he was a hate victim and subject to abuse.
Like most of the fans on this thread, I don't hate Lingard. I simply dislike him as a football player and his professional attitude, and that is very different from "hating one of our own".
Fans be the right to voice it when a player is stealing a living. That, in fact, is putting the club in first place.
This disgraceful title should have been changed long ago.

Nah not really, his movement as a no.10 is shite as well.

Least Ole could do is tell him to go out there and pretend he's a good player. None of this Express yourself bollocks.

I have faith that the Lingard will saw for two seasons under Mourinho is where his ceiling actually is. A limited but useful squad player.

However in this current form he's lucky to be playing in the Premier League, never mind for Manchester United.

We've never had an Indian in our team before... I think you should get a chance, sell a lot of shirts.

For the sake of balance I should get a spot too, being Pakistani (British Pakistani but it counts). Also you could have loads of shirt sales and I could help find a Biriyani sponsor. In fact if I managed that I think I'd be more useful than Lingard.

Raiola is now his agent I'm hearing? Words fail me!
He’s probably bored and fancies a challenge. Imagine trying to flog Jesse around Europe, it’d be like trying to sell snow to an Eskimo.

I personally don't hate Lingard like I don't hate Shaw or Jones but none of them should be anywhere near Man United squad . 3 bang average players who are low level PL championship players at best

:lol: Would be a hard sell indeed, would be like trying to force a pork pie down a vegan's throat.

I often think Jesse must wear a camouflage kit because he is fecking invisible on the pitch.

If he has seriously taken Raiola in as his agent, especially with all that has gone on recently, then he has to be one of the dumbest players to grace the game.....I mean come on Jesse - your not exactly Mr popular at the moment and then signing up with public enemy no 1 - wtf are you thinking?

Surely one of his mates should tell him......

You've probably got the right attitude towards him but I feel differently. Whilst I wouldn't say I hate him, I dislike him in a way I don't feel about Shaw and Jones because of his social media presence, where he comes across as a proper James Blunt.

He's no world beater but he'd a really useful player in a functional team. We haven't had that in many years now. Sir Alex made use of a lot less talented individuals than Lingard. No point in hating him, we should hate all the poor decisions that led to the overall poor performances of the squad. If you gave me to compile a list of players to get rid Pogba would always be well ahead of Lingard in it. And few others, but I am not wanting to pass a judgment too soon, that's manager's job.

This is exactly the mentality that has us in this trainwreck of a season.

Absolute rubbish, Lingards a terrible player, an attacking player that struggles to control or pass a football aswel as being one of the main culprits of the toxic environment in the playing squad. He embodys everything thats wrong with our team, not a victim of it.

This.

Horseshit mate, i can't think of one player who played regularly for Ferguson between 1993-2013 who was a lot less talented than Jesse fecking Lingard. Certainly none that played more than 15-20 games never mind any that were approaching 200 games for United.

Might be about to become hated even more if the tabs (I know) are anything to go by.

Several dailies saying that he is "working with super agent Raiola"

No idea what's left of his contract but it might be that a certain dancing partner is in his ear. Maybe. He's stupid enough.

"Talent" alone means nothing in football. We do remember decent games from Lingard, but they were far too few and at least 2 years ago. The player that Lingard has been for the last year+ would never make anywhere close to SAF's team. That is the truth

Fun fact: Fergie used to rate Jones highly and even once said “Jones, arguably the way he is looking, could be our best ever player,” which you should read as: Fergie thought Phil Jones had enough talent. Well... Not much came out of that, as we can see 7 years later.

I never really hated Lingard but I honestly can't believe that someone would make a clothing brand called JLingz and expect it to sell.

Why would anyone by that?

I only think of him as the worst no.10 in the league currently and the most pointless player ever as Man Utd regular first team player over the past 30 years. In other words, he is simply an attacking player who has no clue on how to score, assist and create chances, he is just, running around in the final third, offering nothing in attack. He is only there to press.

No I don’t hate him at all, just merely stating the fact and expressing my honest opinion.

This smells of media BS to me. Raiola is a popular topic for his recent comments about united and lingard is a popular topic for playing crap and not having a goal or assist for an entire year. Put the two together, and bang! There’s your news story for the day.

He had a chance to kick on his good form in Dec 2017 and become a top player but the one month good form went to his head and he was more interested in making a name of himself at the expense of Manchester United. His behaviour during those time even till last year was nothing but absolute joke. He was becoming a bad influence to all our youngsters and even to Rashford. I am not surprised he has toned down a lot since the summer as he realised fans don't like him. He is extremely fortunate to be still playing for this club and that itself shows our ambition.

No he didn't have the chance, he was never going to be a top player.

He had luck on his side for a few weeks but in reality he has always been shit.

It's the England thing. It's what made Rooney shite for so many seasons. Jesse maxed out in Russia and had a good World Cup. He scored the best goal for England. He was one of the first names on the team sheet. But with that success came all the distractions. He maybe isn't equal to it.

This is exactly the mentality that has us in this trainwreck of a season.

Exactly I can't work out the mentality of some people.

Pogba for all his faults is a class footballer and he contributes, even if you don't like it.

Imagine a world where we actively let go of actual talent to keep hard workers and local lads... Don't need to imagine, it's happening.

Sad times.

Bit ott hiring a super agent to broker a cheap transfer to some mid table West Ham type club but if it helps the process then I'm all for it.

It is ridiculous that the press is churning out articles „United hope to include Lingard + cash in a deal to get player X or Y“.
