As ever, it’s far more nuanced than a lot of the posts lately are making it out to be. I’d love it if people thought first before posting “we’re shite” or “worst club in the league “, “pub team”, “banter FC” etc. It’s all hyperbolic nonsense.

As you say above, we are currently down to the bare bones. There are all sorts of reasons/excuses for that which may or may not be Ole’s fault. It’s probably a combination of things. Who the feck knows? What I do know is that Poch, Ole, Klopp or whoever would struggle to change things up with the bench we’ve currently got. Greenwood was carrying a knock from the last game and nobody else is really good enough (or they’d probably have started). It just smacks of rearranging chairs on the deck of the Titanic at the moment.

I hope that Rashford, McT, Pogba....even Matic and Tuanzebe are back soon to bolster the ranks as we need that extra drive and quality in there. We miss them badly. I’m sure that’ll make a big difference. Until then we’ve got to ride this out.

One thing I would say is that the media (e.g. dicks like Redknapp and others) are desperate to regurgitate that message that we are shite, worst United team ever, awful, unable to break down a deep lying defensive team (despite the fact that most teams struggle with that...particularly when they don’t have an out and out striker on the pitch, just like we don’t at the moment.) Don’t buy into it. They want to kick us while we’re struggling to get any consistency and paint us as crap. We should close ranks to a large degree, this season at least.

And I’m pretty sure after seeing how Ole reacted to Lingard they have intructions. The thing managers usually say, get it together or you won’t play. Can’t do that, can he? They are very good on the break but take Jimenez and Traore out of that team and they ain’t all that......Jimenez would be brilliant at United in my view. This is a major major issue with Martial, to me he looks so easy to play against and contain. It's night and day comparing him and Jimenez in that regard.

Yes. Totally agree. Jimenez is exactly the type of forward you need to make a defensive counter attacking tactic work.
He holds the ball so well and brings in other players running at speed.

It's really getting a bit Brexit in here. Some people have cast their vote as Ole out, and now seem desperate to prove they were right by ignoring anything that goes against their stance.

If we can get our full squad available for a couple of months then I'm quite sure the results will improve. If they don't, then it would be much more fair to judge that Ole isn't up to the job. Until then, just support him ffs. Give him a fair crack at the job. No one has really had that since SAF left and we would never have experienced the fruits of his genius if the impatient crowd had got rid of him after a year or two.

Big Ron had run out of ideas. He had a lot of good players but many had become regulars without much competition for places. We had seen some great performances. SAF arrived as Ron’s squad began to fail and age. Old favourites were in decline and others were in the serious drinking club. The club was a mess in so many other ways too. All combined it was a torrid five years before that night in Rotterdam when we actually looked a serious football team. Then Eric arrived and the rest is history.

Ole is not bereft of ideas but he’s trying SAF type policies which suit a well run outfit - presently we are a disjointed club. Almost every aspect of the club is a loose thread: transfer policy doesn’t meet needs, players don’t fit tactics, pressers don’’t reflect games, expectations do not match capability. The outcome is chaos, whether from a draw against Wolves or victory over the Bitters or defeat to Burnley. Statistically this is represented by average level points through the season but actual performances are skewed towards the poor end of the scale and literally no one knows what team will turn up on match day - good, bad or different.

This situation is not new, but I fear Ole is trying to turn back the clock to a place that no longer exists. We don’t have the players and the board no longer has the confidence or the will of the past. Yesterday reflected all of these problems - especially the players who often performed pretty poorly through the game. If this was another club a draw would have been treated as a decent result but MUFC is not any old club. A managerial change will only add to the problems as will panic last minute loans. The club badly needs some oversight management to start pulling the threads back together. In my opinion, yesterday shouted out our need for a director of football and a comprehensive overhaul of our football strategy.

The squad needed a major rebuild and to do that, on the limited budget the Glazers were prepared to let go of, required sales before purchases. To lower the wage bill and shift the players who have clearly proven not good enough under successive 'successful' managers.

Under our board, Klopp would have been labelled a failure after his first season and he would not have been allowed the expensive purchases he required to get to the next level.

For me and many others here, it's not set that we want Ole for 4 or 6 years at all. I think you're making that bit up. What we do want, now that he has the job, is to see what he can achieve with a properly balanced and talented squad. We are probably now only 3/4 good signings away from achieving that so hopefully we can get those in the summer and then he gets until christmas time next year to prove if he is good enough to stay.

Having said all that, if Pochettino had won a few trophies before, or there was another obviously outstanding candidate willing to come here, then I'd be quite happy with that too. I'm not taking a dogmatic support Ole at all costs approach. But having watched the obvious mistakes of each of our last 4 managers when they've come in(yes, Ole included) I feel that as much as possible, we need some managerial stability while the squad is rebuilt.

I don't know what some people expect.
The media are doing what they always do. Ratchet up the negativity, then when the manager is sacked, bleat about how they weren't given time, or were treated badly by 'big bad United.' Rinse and repeat.
Let Ole play a 1st eleven and add some quality in the summer, before writing him off.

I would like to see some evidence of better coaching though.
I think his staff was an emergency assembly, that needs improving now.

Solskjaer will never be as good as Fergie. Let's take this notion off the table right now. Compare their career pre Manchester United and its night and day. Compare their character and its night and day.

Ole had a lot of players at his disposal last season and look at the results and performances after that initial bounce. I'm fact I'd say only about 3 or 4 pf the games in the winning run were actually good performances. I agree with Ole when he said that we rode our luck a lot.

In my opinion, we have all the proof we need now about how good Ole the manager is. And let's just say he wasn't some hidden gem that had been overlooked all these years. He was a guy that found his level in Norway then got handed a managerial winning lottery ticket by us.

If I was the manager, not a supporter, then Fellaini, Herrera, Lukaku and Smalling would still be here, simply because we haven't yet signed replacements and I rated Smalling better than Jones, Bailly etc.

It seemed to me, Bruno started off trying to get things going right off the bat and no one was getting into good positions, but he kept after it. After about 20 minutes, we started freeing things up. I saw a lot more almost happening than some more negative posts here. The second half, it kind of went away. However, I give a lot more credit to Wolves for having watched them play the last couple of years than a lot of others seem to give them just because "they're Wolves." Nuno has built an outstanding defense and they have second most draws in the league right now.

Keep in mind Bruno had one single day to train with the squad before the game. They don't have a feel for him, he doesn't have a feel for them. Let's see what they can do with two weeks and no games. We'll be much healthier if nothing else. Ighalo joins, Matic is back.
