That's the only place which comes to mind at the moment, it's the surrounded by parks and fields. I think there's plenty of accommodation close by as well to house the team as well.

Having all of the games there might be safest option, but I that would mean having games on throughout the week.

Good point. I guess they will just do regular training rather than actually play games. Could have games against other Brittish sides though.

Still not sure the risk is worth it over friendly games.

You are right though that even if there is any form of pre-season, it will operate differently as you will struggle to get anyone to play. Only suggestion would be to play domestic teams, perhaps from lower leagues. You wouldn’t have time for more than 2 or 3 games at most though.

It would be a fitness builder for both teams, but if social distancing is still there, it will not be of much financial benefit to the lower league side which would be a shame.
 
Premier League are asking the Govt' to scrap the neutral ground idea and allow home/away.

No chance a bottom 3 club votes for it. Even with parachute payments, the fact that there is no attendance revenue means that a large majority of EFL clubs could go out of business. Someone like Villa going down as is, could end up going bankrupt despite not mathematically being relegated.

I don't think you have come across enough middle managers and small businesses. They fundamentally don't trust their staff, I know loads of people going back to work in offices with no change where they sit about 4 feet from other people.

Agree. Clubs are probably looking at players picking up injuries as well as the virus risk. Maybe we also have to just understand that the quality of the football might not be great until they get up to pace. I would rather write this season off and start everything for next season.
I would also not have European competitions next season, so it will not matter who finishes where this season. Lives are too important to risk them traveling round Europe.
 
Ok here's something I just realized. What happens if a player suffers a serious injury which requires hospitalization? Does that mean going to a hospital where there's an increased risk of exposure to the virus?

I think the safest option is probably Arbroath, that ground backs onto the North Sea, it’s absolutely fecking freezing :lol:

Some United supporter created that Virus in a lab just to stop their season. Not doing it well enough if football is coming back ;).

I would imagine that having the games at home stadiums will encourage local fans to gather within the vicinity. If Liverpool were busy winning the league inside an empty Anfield, you can be certain that outside won’t be empty.

Clubs should be incredibly forthright and strict about this. Don't come to the ground, if you do you are endangering the lives of others and we'll ban you for life.

At least that means Champions League football for us next season - whenever that is - assuming Citeh's ban is upheld. I expect we'll have a few games before PPG is used.

Will be very difficult to Police though. The clubs won’t have the sort of operation in place as they would for a normal home game, and the demand it will place on public services will be huge too.

I agree with the sort of line clubs should take thou if indeed it did come to this. A strong message is needed.
 
I thought the biggest piece for neutral grounds was that you could have (say) 4 games in a row and you wouldn't need to have 5 sets of support staff (TV, stewards etc) therefore reducing the risk of spreading/ contracting the virus?

Either way, I don't think it's very likely that anything restarts soon. I'm only seeing from the outside but as things start to open up, there are going to be lots of issues with social distancing. Even if you want to stay clear of everyone else, you can hardly prevent other people being close to you in many situations. I hope that this isn't true and we see a continuous decline in cases but given what we've seen that doesn't seem very likely. It seems far more likely that cases will rise.

Just end the season for crying out loud. It’s obvious to me and should be to everybody else that this season will not resume. The bottom half clubs simply will refuse to agree to restart unless relegation is done away with or the Government agree to playing Home and Away fixtures. Both those options are extremely unlikely if not impossible. Eve the season now and decide table on PPG since voiding is seemingly out of the question.

i can see them saying it to encourage people to play games. Especially if they are in bottom 3. However for everyone but united, the odd other team and the bottom 3 they would likely prefer to finish as is.
Should be interesting to see relegation decided on ppg. The word of the day is integrity.

I don't think that anyone outside of the truly hard of thinking really thought they'd be denied it. That idea died about 6-7 weeks ago.

Also interesting to know if that means crowning champions. I’m not surprised. Nor do I care. If that’s the case it’s tantamount to saying end the season now anyway. Choose either ppg or as is tables. I imagine ppg.

Posted something similar in another thread, but the bottom 6 surely must disagree to play at neutral venues. I'm sure they'll be OK with it if relegation is removed, but that makes a mockery of any remaining integrity, so cannot be considered.
Then you only need one more club to disagree and its game over.
Southampton or Newcastle might and also Chelsea might. They have a top4 spot right now but are in danger of dropping out, so the sensible decision for them would be to call it a day now. Same goes for Leciester, nothing to gain but everything to lose by playing the remaining games.
I don't think we'll get any agreement, I think this will be it.
Then we fight over what method to use to sort it all out..............
 
It would certainly put paid to the idea that Liverpool can get the title without any effect on relegation. Which is what everyone has said here except Liverpool fans.
