Yeah I know 30 isn’t ideal but that’s what ND are going with here so I guess we’ll have to wait until they get a performance patch for the PS5. Though there shouldn’t be a any issues with the 30fps at least according to DF whom I trust.

For what it's worth, I'm playing it now and it's excellent so far; true enough to the first to feel connected but different enough to justify the existence of a sequel. If the first one gives you everything you want and the prospect of characters changing/ things happening over 5 years is overly taxing, just play the original again and stop spamming review sites with your uninformed, bilious bullsh1t.

Yeah it’s bizarre that people jumped on her appearance. I’ve seen girls at my rugby club that would flatten her to fecking ground. Strange. Anyway, it doesn’t matter what gender she is or what she looks like, I just don’t particularly feel a strong connection to her and I think having her a playable character is a misstep but it’s not going to stop me from playing the game.

I know you were one of the posters who said they planned to boycott the game so fair play for acknowledging that you are enjoying it for the most part.
I'm only messing, ill be rushing home and cant wait to play it, i used to always tell me brother to quit moaning when he'd come in and tell me the framerate is terrible whenever i was playing on my ps4 i then got a 144hz monitor too and he wasn't lying but you adjust to either or after 30 mins!
There is a story similar to the first TLOU going on in which Abby (from WLF) is protecting and travelling with a kid who is from the opposing faction to WLF. The kid is trans and had to run away from his/her own faction for fear of getting killed.

Yeah am a bit of graphics whore so I used to push my 1070ti to 30 frames so I could squeeze every last drop of graphical fidelity out of it. Going to build a new pc when the news Amd processors and graphics cards are out — should finally get 4K @ 60fps this time.

The thing is I love the survival horror genre, I love the atmosphere of this game, music, graphics, all amazing, but I just can't:
play half of the game with new bland character that I hate after she brutally killed character I loved and was invested in in the first game, and it happens in first two hours also, I get too immersed in the story when I play something so I can't. Also Joel acting out of character spouting his name, trusting strangers, that writing...

I understand your point of view and everything you said in that spoiler. I genuinely get it. I feel like too actually, but if you love this genre then just get the game and play because of the setting and the lore. They made a misstep but we move on.
That’s what I’ve read. The lack of connection players have with her due to her lack of charisma. That was one of my fears, without the connection the story falls apart.
Thats a valid concern. Again, it’s a misstep by ND but in a time where I feel almost no connection to anything anymore — I’m not that bothered. Last time I felt really something was Joel and Nate funnily enough. Adding her as an NPC would have been better but that just me.
Watched the game through in its entirety now. Starts off okay with the prologue but the second act is just a shambles of lazy writing and it all looks so forced.
And obviously no one who played the first game (and isn't a sociopath) is going to be able to have any sort of connection with Abby as a protagonist. And if you dont relate to the character you're playing as in a game like this a lot of the impact is irretrievably lost, even if the plot had been better

Was a bit dissapointed with how quickly Joel was killed off, would have been nice IMO to have him with us at least 1/3 of the game. Not quite sure what I think of Dina as a companion yet. Not really bothered by the lesbo stuff but dont think the story in this one can top number 1, but there is still lots left.

Really? The level of detail, particle effects and lighting are far better for me, I'm playing on a PS4 Pro and 4k telly though.
Clickers seem more terrifying this time around too, they've somehow made the noise they make even more gut wrenching.

I'm just playing on the standard old PS4. How no idea how many k my telly is probably not much since it was cheap.
Even in 1080p the difference in level of detail, amount of foliage, lighting, etc is significant. It's your mind playing tricks on you. You remember The Last of Us looking fantastic and the overall style is of course similar to the second game, so you sort of think it looked as good. In reality, putting the two side-by-side, you'd notice the difference. It's the same effect that had IGN saying the recent Saints Row 3 remaster barely improved the visuals while Digital Foundry's in depth, side-by-side comparison showed it was nearly a remake-quality overhaul of every visual element in the game.

Anyway, about the game. It's fecking intense. The dodge button has already come in useful and clickers are still horrible. I've got to do a better job of preserving supplies though. Just gunned my way through a section and wasted twice as many bullets as was necessary.

Yeah same, trying to push political agendas down gamers throats is never going to go down too well. I'll probably wait until its remastered on PS5 to play this anyway, not in too much of a rush with my backlog on PC also.

The percentage of people who openly identify as LGBT in the US is about 4-5%, I think? With more obviously falling into that category but not openly identifying as such. So if media was simply to reflect real life then somewhere between 5-10% of characters based in the US should be LGBT.
Yet if they were actually to get that accurate level of representation across all games there would be a collective meltdown from people whining about SJW agendas.
