Imagine beating Spain but rightfully being furious at the coach after the game. That was such bullshit. He’s trying to tactically outsmart Spain by parking the bus for over half an our with Werner as the ONLY offensive player left on the pitch in what is basically a friendly.
This isn’t a CL semi final second leg against prime Barca. Why is Löw pretending to be Di Matteo? Why is he even coach of this squad after the failure of 2018 and the subsequent last place finish in the nations league group. Makes my blood boil seeing him on the touch line still. He’s been there for 14 years. Ugh

Fairly sure there is no VAR in the group stages. In any case Süle played him onside. If you are off the pitch without permission (i.e. treatment) you are considered to be on the line.

Thought De Gea looked very sharp in that game which is nice to see. I’ve given him a lot of stick recently but we all know how good he can be. Here’s hoping he can find his top form again.
I didn't expect miracles, but for me Ireland tonight were guilty of the same mistakes that Latvia made this afternoon.Even back in the heady days of the 80s/90s/early 00s with Keane, McGrath, Houghton, Duff, Keane etc. we played utter shite stuff. Roy Keane goes off about it in his autobiography. Even now, grassroots football is all hoofball, physical-prowess-over-technical-ability rubbish.

Playing nice, neat, attacking football is all well and good, but sometimes getting the result is what counts. When you come up against a weaker side, in this case Andorra and Bulgaria respectively, then scrappy football is acceptable, when you overplay it allows those sides to put players behind the ball and restrict space. When you don't have the talent needed to move off the ball and drag the disciplined defence out of position it leads to frustration and although you tend to see a lot of the ball, you isolate your forward players and usually leads to be suspect on the counter.
I think people tend to over complicate the game and it leads to poor results. Only my opinion of course and its a shame as I like Ireland and like to see them do well.

I think of we are still discussing this a year into Kenny'd reign then it will be valid. For me its a bit unfair to take anything from tonight in the first game for a coach trying to play football with a group that have been discouraged from it for years before. I was happy with the progress I've seen. I'd rather screw all results this year if it meant that we were a good football team at the end of it.

Yeah maybe, im not taking anything away from the coach really, I do think that a winning mentality is needed though and obviously the best way to get that is to win games. The football played tonight was OK but very frustrating to watch. I still don't feel like they're a side thats going to send many shockwaves around Europe, but watching their progress will be interesting.
Plus I won't be betting on them anymore, so I will probably be less harsh in my criticism
Being off the pitch doesn’t mean you’re not part of the defensive line. It was definitely a good goal, the Spanish player was onside.
In general it’s definitely not about that goal. Löw is just a coward and I can’t believe he’s been coach of the German team for 14 years now. 2012 (Perhaps the best squad he had if he had used actual players when it mattered) and 2018 were absolute disasters, 2014 was due to the players being that good. Basically only in 2010 and 2016 was the team a pleasant surprise performance wise.

Ah, I quoted the wrong post. I was actually talking about them moaning about the added minute. I guess they were moaning for offside then.
