Internationals September (Nations League + Friendlies)

min general it’s definitely not about that goal. Löw is just a coward and I can’t believe he’s been coach of the German team for 14 years now. 2012 (Perhaps the best squad he had if he had used actual players when it mattered) and 2018 were absolute disasters, 2014 was due to the players being that good. Basically only in 2010 and 2016 was the team a pleasant surprise performance wise.

I'm always conflated about 2014, I've disliked Löw since 2012 and didn't think he was a great coach. In 2014 though he wasn't near to having his best squad with injuries to Reus, Schmelzer, Gundogan, Bender brothers and then Schweinsteiger/Khedira having knocks during the tournament. I mean he was forced to play Howedes at LB.

But yea, it has been horrendous since 2016. We were already showing weak performances heading into 2018 so it's been bad for a while. His switch to 3-5-2 has been better but the mentality he showed today was just ridiculous and scary when you consider the quality of players he has and how he decided to play. If he continues like this we won't be taking advantage of our attacking players.

Thanks for posting the Szoboszlai freekick. Ronaldo-esque. He is 19, Hungary’s biggest talent, hopefully a great club will sign him next year.

If the rule states an out of play player doesn't count, Spain was offsides. I took the spread. Is that bright enough?

He wasn’t out of play.

I need some other Germany fans to rage with, where are they?!

Yes, that was a really underwhelming line up followed by dumb subs. Don't get how Löw can just turn 180° as a coach. Say what you want about him, he always wanted to play proactive and attacking oriented. Now he's gone full Mourinho, suddenly.

Ferran Torres looks decent. Hungry player.

Got to say Werner underwhelms me every time I see him. Just nothing special about him. Wouldn't be surprised to see Giroud or Abraham displace him for Chelsea.

Sane on the other hand is an absolute steal at £50m

Gotta say I agree on all counts.

Said he is staying one more year. Such a smooth player, not fast but glides past people and has great positioning. Of course his free kicks are special too. Though not a fan AC MIlan would have been a good move for him.

What is the reason for Germany FA to keep Löw after the disastrous 2018 World Cup? 14 months ago, no one has even heard of Hans Flick but now he will probably go down as one of Bayern's greatest managers and would most likely win the Fifa World Coach of the Year award, having led Bayern to a historic 2nd treble and being only the 2nd team in football history after Barca to win the treble twice. You would have thought that there are many promising German managers, unpolished gems just waiting to have their first break. I was a big advocate of firing him after the 2018 World Cup debacle. A shame because this German team is still so talented.

He isn’t out of play. You’re only out of play if you’ve been receiving treatment and need the ref's clearance to come back into play.

If you were out of play using your logic then goalkeepers would be playing most of the match 'out of play' behind the byline which would create lots of offside situations when the opponent was attacking.

The Spain squad is pretty underwhelming. Just realised that Sergio Ramos has 170 caps for Spain. What a player. Time flies.

First NI international for ages tonight. New manager - really interested to see how we get on. Evans not playing is a massive blow though.

Had to think about that. Yes he was on the left.

Haha, was going to say. Took your time, didn't you?

Always good to hear he had a good game, though.

He's received quite a lot of stick of late, and I think a big reason that has happened is due to his really good start. A dip in form was always going to happen. He's still young and learning.

With the progression of Greenwood and potential signing of a winger, it means we can develop James more carefully, as opposed to just throwing him in like we were forced to do last season.

We're so bad without Ødegaard. No control in midfield.
