Premier League Gameweek 3

Someone the other day said that Timo Werner would "only be as good as Jamie Vardy" and meant it as a bit of an insult. As a Chelsea fan I'd take that in a heartbeat!
Who said that? At the moment he's looking more like Ryan Babel if lampard keeps playing him on the left

I thought we were the only team with fitness issues....i guess people just really wanted to come at united.

Yeah, Rory was eligible because his parents are Irish so Liam would qualify via grandparents rule.

Rory Delap was pretty shit so there was no interest from England. It looks like Liam might be a much better player.
That’s a real pity we could be doing with him.

This kind of crossing from the wing backs is what we are missing at United. Hope we get Tellis.

Timo Werner might actually be a fraud. He only has good movement and not much else. Abraham is actually better as a forward.

Didn't Pep himself say that his ideas have a finite lifespan at his clubs, and that's why he leaves after a while? Might be approaching the end of the road for him there.

Not sure he’s said that himself. I’m surprised he’s still there. But he hasn’t won the Champions League with them. They definitely won’t be winning it this season with that squad.

Werner is sooo more similar to Immobile than to Vardy!

ManCity with same problem as teams that played in Champions League/Europa League. No preseason whatsoever and it will take 2-4 weeks before they get going.

But I thought that City weren't affected by the lack of a preseason and that it was no excuse for us to have??
Wonder if some of the folks on here can cut us a bit of fecking slack now.

Leicester looking good now. It is not complicated. Hard-working reasonably talented midfielders, quick skilfull full backs and a sneaky striker who is great at finishing.
I know that it is early doors but I can't see City challenging Liverpool this year either.
I am still very annoyed that we let Jonny Evans go. I think he would still be our best CB.

Very much so.

I think we may be entering the phase of Pep’s career where people will be saying he can set teams up to be immaculate in possession but a complete mess off the ball. As Neville just pointed out on comms, their pressing intensity seems off – maybe just injuries and lack of preparation.

He's superb when he picks up by far the best squad in a league, not so superb at rebuilding.
He inherited all his best players at City, Kompany, Sterling, Silva, De Bruyne and Aguero, Quite startling when you think about it like that.

Liverpool have every chance of being as much of a machine this season as last, so you wonder if things are already well against them, even 3 weekends in!

Liverpool heading for a 20th title. I feel sick.

We finally managed to ruin everything Fergie had done before retiring. Left us 2 titles away from Liverpool, 8 years later and they're about to equal the record.

I just gave up repeatedly trying to say that they were fortunate to play against a club that also had a delayed end to last season on the first day

Castagne is a renowned attacking wing back - not known for his defending. Using 3 games and one cross as a stick to beat AWB with is ridiculous.

He absolutely is known for defending well. You don't have to look far to find a full back that's better at attacking than AWB.

City fans are never there so i don't understand the need for "we're not really here" cover on the seats

Guardiola’s City is the best betting scam of the recent years... so many inglorious failres and still the top choice by punters (or mugs?) from all over the world.

Just our luck that City have half their first team out, and Liverpool full strength. Devastating result.

Barnes and his shooting, again and again and again. Reminds me of Sterling or Veratti.

City have gone from being the best in the world at pressing from the front to being fairly average at it

Castagne is really good isn’t seems to have a hell of an engine too
