Fantastic Signing one for the future, Can't wait for January to watch him play for us, he's a livewire isn't he?

Looks an exciting player but he's all left foot isn't he? That's not what we need on the right wing either. We need people who can cross the ball and go on the outside. This lad will be like Rashford on the left. Cutting inside.

So whats he doing till Jan?

He likely would've played a lot more for Atalanta but they don't play with wing forwards. I'm hopeful he'll play a fair few games for us once he arrives in January.
It will be interesting to see if he'll get any time at Atalanta in between now and January. Would like to be able to watch him before he gets here.

I'm hoping the same and will be keeping a close eye on Atalanta but I fear they won't play him.

If you bothered to watch the highlight videos you can see he takes plenty of good shots with his right foot. He's been described as 2 footed.

He clearly favours the left though. When he dribbles its a dead give away. Looks very exciting though but doesn't strike me as a proper out and out winger which was my point.

Well yes he's left footed that plays on the right wing, that's pretty common these day's. He looks like he's capable of going inside or outside though, Similar to Mahrez in style.

He looks like he's perfectly capable of using his right foot though compared to other very 1 footed players.

Maybe so but don't we need more of a classic winger on the right given Rashford cuts in on the left. I thought that was the whole point of Sancho. Top quality and right footed.

Not sure about an inverted winger on the right with AWB. It's just more of what we have now with Mason.

I know nothing about him but I'd like to ask why he has only played 3 games for Atalanta when he made his debut almost exactly a year ago?

Can't find anyting regarding injuries or loans in the past 12 months.

According to all reports, they're no room for him in their playing style. He's tactically persona non grata.

Pellestri is more that style and seems closer to the first team anyway.

Having 2 inside forwards is more than possible, Liverpool do it with Mane/Salah, City with Sterling/Mahrez... you just need good fullbacks to make use of the space made.

I find that rather distressing for an 18 year old to be tactically unwelcome by his club. Surely if he was that promising then they would develop him?

Hamed Traore doesn’t play for Parma though.

Given that background, I can't imagine the odds of him actually being 18 are too great either, then?
It does seem dodgy. But he has been playing in Italian youth teams since 2014 (don’t know if he was in Italy before that as well), which places him there as a 12 year old. Someone surely would’ve raised an eyebrow if he looked older than he was, considering the kinda talent he has.

Serie A is extremely bad at promoting young players into the senior teams. Despite having a massive bench they rarely get used. It's worse than the Premier League. He's also very young, 10 months younger than Greenwood for example.

He looks his age.

There’s a photo of him with Pogba from 4-5 years ago and thankfully Traore doesn’t look 18 in it.

Perspective from Italian journos and insiders: at €20m + €20m, this is the most absurd signing of the window. The kid is nowhere near a first team contributor yet and was on his way out on loan to mid-table Parma in order to get a few minutes here and there. What on Earth is United thinking they got, nobody knows, so thank you and good luck.

I don't get the fee. 40 mil is a lot for just a talent. Who else wanted him? Strange that other top clubs were not interested.

Yes, i don't have high opinion in our scouts so it is strange to me that we found a gem which was missed by others.

I don't think Real Madrid, Barcelona etc. were in the market for €40 million teenagers this transfer window to be fair.

Why are you thanking United? Your post makes no sense.

I think Sir Alex was talking about people like you when he said "people don't understand potential, they can't get their heads around it"

They're obviously paying for his potential, not his current ability.

If he does an Alphonso Davies, then he's an absolute steal.

Half the fee is based on performance related add-on's, if we end up paying the full amount he will obviously be worth it.

Journous were, while mimicking Atalanta’s suits. I can add Atalanta suits are not thanking United right now, just laughing out loud: United just paid for their latest stadium rebuild and all they got is a ballboy.

“... the real hit to sensation is still from Atalanta. For the series, never say never (that's how it works on the market, as long as there is no signature ...) Traore instead of Parma is sold to Manchester United, for the sensational sum of 40 million. It looks like the goose that lays the golden eggs, this Atalanta: two jewels of the Primavera that wins the Scudetto in 2019, Kulusevski the man of the game in the final and king of assists, Traore just sixteen years old playmaker who jumps opponents like skittles, are a real treasure for the Nerazzurri’s accounting. Two talents who, after playing a few minutes in Serie A, become an astounding capital gain...”

For me, Cavani is more of a rotation piece than an outright back up to Martial. I see it like the Chelsea side from 04-06, where the strikers ( Gudjohnson, Drogba and sometimes Crespo) got equal gametime. That way, regardless of form or injury, we always have one striker that can contribute with goals and assists. I can see them each getting 15 plus goals if healthy. Martial may not be as good as either Kane Aguero or Aubameyang, but with Cavani supplementing him, we can get 25 plus league goals from our centre forward and match those strikers.

So because he was going on loan at 18 to a mid table Serie A side he can’t be any good? If anything a mid table Serie A side wanting to loan and 18 year old and getting so annoyed about it not happening means he is good.

Just to list a few:
Odegaard sent on loan at 19 to Heerenveen. Not worth €20+20? Looks to me like he is.
Mount sent to Vitesse at 18. Not worth it?
Harry Kane sent to Leyton Orient. Who would ever spend 20+20 on him right?

Should I even bother listing more?

It's not really 40m yet though... it's 20m + 20m... and that other 20m will most likely only come into play if he actually plays a fair bit of first team football for us, and if he gets to that point then he'll probably be worth it.

If he never plays a game it's a 20m punt that went wrong. Which I suppose is quite a lot really, but still.

In this article they praise both Kulusevski and Diallo though while getting the latter age wrong and stating that Atalanta also did a good job getting those amounts from Juventus and United, I see no laughing.

The only difference between Kulusevski and Diallo is that United skipped the two years of development in Parma while paying initially 15m less.

That's because the fee is only 20 mil. The rest is conditional.

I understand Italian very well. In that article there s no reference at anyone laughing at United
They just said that sale of 2 youngsters Kulusevski and Traore boosted their budget.

Our team’s key problems are not in attacking department. Yes, it would be great to get Sancho, but real problems are lack of DCM, good CBs and RB.

The article says Traore is a good player and is more just saying that Atalanta’s ability to find talent and sell it before they’re even played is sensational. It goes on to say Roma and Juve wanted Traore before he went to Atalanta. Finally, the fee is full of add ons, just like with Martial’s.
