Amad Diallo signs for Manchester United

You're not understanding. I don't have an issue with the kid at all. I like that we make these types of signings. BUT right now, we needed to fix up the first team, not invest in the future. We are obviously working under a limited budget, and that 20m could've went into improving the first team, which this kid does not do, and will not do for a good couple of years. He's played 24 minutes of professional football. . .
Sometimes you just have to take risk on young talents. 24 mins of football at age 17-18 is nothing to be ashamed of. Of course I’d prefer we buy a CB and DM. But as for RWF, we failed big time on Sancho, who else would you want in last day of market? Will you prefer having average player like Sarr who would cost 40m+, or injury-proned Dembele for 65m? There’s not much options there. 18 yr old talented Traore for 20m up front is as good as we could get.

Has he been on the bench for any of Atlanta's games this season so far?

Can someone explain why it looked like he was joining Parma on loan or was that just nonsense?

He was gonna join Parma because the Atalanta coach (Gasperini) favours playing a wingback system and him staying there didn't make sense due to that reason.

I’m all for signing young talent but we needed that RW sorted now. I can’t see another season of James as RW.

There's not much footage of him available but I do like how he tries to move the ball fast, instead of dwelling on it and trying to dribble around as many players as possible just because he can, in that sense he does have that Sancho intelligence, as opposed to a Dembele.

Does anybody know who he will play for internationally?
Has he played underage for the Ivory Coast?

He's been on the bench for their last game 3 matches, although Serie A teams can name 12 subs.

I googled underage, Ivory Coast and now I'm sat in the interview room of my local Police station.

Can someone please call them and explain?

Love these kind of signings although know very little about him. Hope that he's good enough to be in the match day squad as U23 football does nothing for young players development.

Bit of a nuisance he can’t join until Jan. Doubt Atalanta will play him due to them not playing with wingers

  Not easy to have a good laugh on the Caf' these days.

Depending on when the medical is scheduled for, they may not play him regardless, to avoid injuries!

Did some investigation. I checked out last seasons U19 games. I filtered out players who completed less than 500 minutes and focussed on wingers or wide midfielders. I've only checked the top half of the table.

I've also sorted by age, oldest top of the list.

3rd highest goal count and top assister despite being the youngster (by some distance). Very impressive.

Very happy with this signing.
Left footed right winger, FINALLY!!!!!!!
Watched some highlights and thought "he might become an Ivorian Messi"
You never know! We did sign Ronaldo, remember!
Think positive - BELIEVE

I'll be shocked if he plays 20 games for us

Imagine if Atlanta played him and he gets a long term injury. What happens then?

That's quite easy prediction if it's for this season and quite ridiculous if it's his career prediction with us.

Yep, that deserves a new tagline if he actually reaches his potential

Same as when we loan players out or they go on international duty really - the crap part of sports.

At 18 we want him getting game time.

Wow, very impressive. Especially so, considering he was the youngest on the list, starting the season at the age of 16.

MEN: How new Manchester United signing Amad Diallo stunned Man City coach

"City struggled to contain Diallo who set up the equaliser after driving through the defence before crossing for Davide Ghislandi to score. Atalanta took the lead and settled into the game as Diallo continued to torment City's defenders. His performance was rewarded with a goal as he skipped past both Garcia and Harwood-Bellis with ease to secure a 3-1 victory for his side".

"His excellent showing did not go unnoticed and forced City to make plans to stop him in the reverse fixture".

"MEN Sport's City reporter Simon Bajkowski was in attendance for both games and recalled how Diallo's performance in the first match in Manchester was so impressive to City's coaches, that in the return fixture in Bergamo the Blues' gameplan centred around nullifying the youngster".

From the footage I’ve seen, as well as being quick and skilful on the ball, what really impressed me was his delivery - some of those cross field balls and crosses into the area are excellent for such a young player. Looks a real talent.

Happy for the lad and really hope he does well with us when he joins in January. Seems a well rated prospect in Italy.

A little shameful seeing all the replies though full of fans taking out their frustrations over the window on his announcement post instead of wishing him well

My thoughts exactly. Let's all wind our necks in a bit and get on with things. All this bitching and complaining won't help the team nor will it cause the owners and senior management of the club to change established operating policy - it is what it is. What we need is positivity, not unproductive whinging.

You don't think there's a right winger in world football who would both improve us and represent value for money?

I know that's not exactly what you said, but it annoys me when people say 'well who would you rather we sign?' because it feels like a an unrealistc challenge. Unlike a random bloke on the Internet, the club has hundreds of scouts whose job it is to find players who can improve our team.

There was definitely other RW who could have improved us and provided value for money but unfortunately we didn't look at them early enough as naively believed that Dortmund would lower their valuation and ran out of time

Great stuff. Don’t you also have some analysis for Facundo Pellistri?

Apparently he's two-footed as well, though from the vids it seems his left is his preferred foot.
