Post-match discussion

I’d almost forgot why I rate Pogba so highly... so much so that when the subs were made at half time I thought what’s Ole on, Pogba’s been atrocious, should be him not VdB coming off.... love it that I was wrong

Great win given how we played in first half, which was down to dismal performances from Pogba, McT and Martial. That was frustrating as team was good enough on paper.

Ole forced to act at half time and made brilliant substitutions, albeit players who desperately needed the rest. Bruno and Rashford transformed how we played, and even Pogba felt some of the stardust with a brilliant goal.

buzzing we won so comfortably at the end, albeit concerned Bruno had to play today with Leipzig and City next.

I would say it was Martial and VDB to blame and Cavani was unlucky to be subbed off initially. VDB especially did not position himself correctly and was taken out of the match. The difference between him and Bruno is that Bruno makes runs in behind whereas VDB always wants it at feet. That was the only difference between the first and second halves.

I don't put it on Pogba and McT fully because there was never a pass on as everyone wanted it at feet in front of the West Ham defence. McT did turn the ball over in a couple of dangerous spots and he needs to work on that but a lot of that again goes on VDB and Martial who were not stretching the back line.

For all the ups an downs and madness. I'm actually quite enjoying it.

So glad we beat them so I don't have to hear that arrogant twat Moyes spew his usual nonsense. Also, two points off the first place team with a game in hand on them. What a season.

It was just a huge shame there weren’t more of their fans to witness this in person.

Lottery of Individual brilliance saves the day again. Consistency will only come from good management....

Nonsense post...better team second half and played some good football.

Polar opposite from a shite first half...which was shocking

Pogba actually made a difference in a game, wow.

Another incredible comeback. I'm so happy. It's 3:30 AM here and I can't sleep. So happy

?

We've played 10 games as of today. Tomorrow Spurs play Arsenal, which will be their 11th game. Do we not have a game in hand?
We'll have a game in hand tomorrow.

Right now, we don't.

Martial is rightfully getting a lot of stick, but there were too many passes played to him that he had no chance when there was a West Ham player on his back and couldn't turn.

But that's because Martial always wants the ball played to his feet, and rarely makes runs to attack a ball played in behind the defence. Such a big difference when Rashford came on in the 2nd half.

That's a bit pedantic but okay. Come tomorrow we'll be 2-5 points off first place with a game in hand on whoever occupies that spot. Is that better? Still a very good position to be in, especially considering how badly we started the season.

It's not pedantic at all. It's just plain wrong to say we're "2 points off top with a game in hand".

Thoughts.....

Best I've seen from Telles today. If Shaw comes back in form, going to have to find a way to get them both on pitch at the same time.

I'll take a performance like that out of Pogba more often than not. Thought he was composed for decent portion of the match, great goal. The commentaters here stateside were so clearly anti-Pogba it became distracting.

Though McTominay was awful today, and compromised a lot of the team play. Poor play affected Pogba and VDBs ability to get into the match.

Wish we could have pulled Mata right after his wonder pass. Think there was surprise interest from club in Middle East, but everytime we put him out on the field his price tag has to be going down. He is really looking past it these days.

When was the last time we got a Maguire headed goal from a corner?? He was supposed to excel at that, is what I thought....

What really annoyed me today was Martial wanting the ball to feet but then absolutely refusing to move towards the ball in any way.

Made the defenders jobs a piece of piss

I really don't know what to think about it all. Shout out to Dean Henderson though.

I thought we played well after our first goal. We were shite first half but at least we turned it around. That is the main thing.

Great ball by Mata for #3. The Pogba strike was breathtaking. Especially as Henderson’s clearance went to the canteen, took a dump, and did the lotto before dropping to Bruno.

Well I'm glad I was dead wrong in the half time assessment. I really could not see anything other than a West Ham win with how bad we were in that first half. It wasn't like last week against Southampton when we were 2-0 but not playing too badly. This was far worse. Van De Beek and Cavani being the players to come off, and not Pogba and Martial worsened this lack of confidence. But fair play we overcame an awful first half, and honestly bad first 10/15 minutes in the second too, to get an all important win!

Fernandes and Rashford made it happen though. Fernandes was involved in everything good it felt like. Got his assist, but that first goal was all about the Strike from Pogba. Great hit! A few more of those and I could forgive the fact he gives away the ball with every other touch.

The second goal had a touch of absolute class. The control and to get thr shot away like he did was fantastic by Greenwood. It was great to see what he could do down the middle as well after Martial went off, and he definitely made that goal happen.

Finally it was great to see Rashford get his goal that he deserved. He was tearing them a new one all half. Fantastic pass by Mata. The subs all worked!

On to Tuesday. We need that point at least.

Appalling first half, Bruno was the difference second half, Rashford was class too. Martial going off also helped us, we were more fluid and accurate once he went off.

Bonkers season this.

As much as the oppos want they just don't seem to be able to banter us at the moment. Will be gutted if we feck up in the CL next week. Just need to not get beat. Weekend not ruined for a change which is nice.

The first half was one of the worst halves of football we've served up in recent years. Thank goodness for Bruno
