Coronavirus in football

Looks like we'll be playing Liverpool at Anfield behind closed doors now... which is a bonus for our players not having to listen to the constant screeching ditties by the dippers..

How lazy is Allardyce though? Been out of a job for two years. Comes back and already wants a break after just two weeks in his new job.

Matter of time till we see the PL buy a shit ton of vaccines?

I would have to think so. I honestly cant believe Man City owners cant just buy a ton for UAE and then claim City as key workers fly them there and give it to them.

The backlash will be massive from the public if footballers are allowed to get before anyone at all involved in healthcare and then even people in shipping and logistics should really be in front of them, even truck drivers.

They'll still crank that horrible song out at full blast though.

Not lazy, just opportunistic. He wants the games postponed but trainings to keep going so he can drill his double decker properly. This season's Karren Brady.

I can't understand how games are being cancelled when the rules have been set that 14 players need to be infected. Either follow them or just scrap the season alltogether, don't understand the decisions here.

The close proximity of the games means that clubs can't be sure that any outbreak has been contained, so just because a player tests negative doesn't mean they don't have the virus as it usually takes a few days to show up.

I was just wondering how many postponements have there been lately in the other major league? Is it that Bojo opened the country up for Christmas and as they say you give people an inch and they will take a mile? They seem to have been stricter abroad.

Joke of the system. You either play or you cancel the season. It is not like they didn't new this would happen. And they even had rules in place. Rules that they are now going against.
Should we not wait to see the result of the Liverpool match before we start calling for null and void ?

Why should everyone else pay price because teams can't manage their bubbles properly?

Yeah, should have worded myself better. Still I think the individual games should be scraped rather than postponed, if a team can't play because of infections, either bring a youth side or forfeit. Pointless to delay it.

How do you know Man City haven't managed their bubbles properly?

City had no positive cases on the 22nd when they played Arsenal. It has since come to light that Gabriel has tested positive, so he could well have passed it onto Walker and Jesus who have then subsequently infected others in their "bubble".

They are saying they caught it at the hotel they stopped at.

I don’t think any of us are surprised that the biggest con merchants in the league pulled this off first.
If there is a rule to be bent or loophole to be found you can be certain city will find it.

Don't see anything unusual taking place. Obviously if they didn't know that the outbreak was contained before the game against Everton, a postponement was the right choice and it didn't matter whether it was 1, 5 or 10 players that tested positive. Now that they've isolated the cases and contained the outbreak, makes sense that they're given the all clear to play next weekend.

The only farce was the PL allowing teams to have fans inside the stadium - not ony a bad idea if you can't grant the same advantage to every team, but also just a very bad idea given the Covid situation in the UK. It made no sense from the beginning.

I find it extremely fecking suspicious that City aren't more or less getting instant test results. Testing Sunday morning and getting their results Monday morning, testing Tuesday after getting a match called off and over 24 hours laters there's no news on the result ?

There's no fecking way they are that useless.
I had a test at dialysis today (Wed) and got the result within 10 minutes.

No reason why multi-million £ football clubs can't do the same.

Yes an old and overweight man scared for his health in a pandemic is weird. We should all boo him!

Beautiful. Keep it moving. Society needs football. Depression and suicides are already at an all time high and for a lot of people, football is a way to stay level headed. Pausing it won't do any good. We would be pausing it for years and years to come and then we will have an issue about clubs going bankrupt.

Here in Canada we have lockdowns but still experience record amount of "cases".

How don't know how much of it is true but Twitter rumour mill is going aghast at the Xmas party that was arranged which may have lead to a number of footballers getting Covid.

I’m curious what the story is.

If TheFA can ban people because of the culture they can ban players for breaching rules.

Been forwarded this on WhatsApp so it is obvious watertight;

Wait for the news come out about Kyle walker at man city.
He arranged a party for Xmas in London and 19 premier league players went and up to now 11 have tested positive due to Fulham match getting called off tonight and city other night against Everton.
Found this out working at Burnley last night.
Even someone called sancho from Dortmund fc hired a private jet and went the party.
This is going to cause big shit

Could end up being a clusterfeck if more games get postponed. Even without the postponements, City would quite likely have had double games in three different PL gameweeks to come.

Time for me to get on the blower to Ole. I can do a job.

"Someone called Sancho".

Sounds legit that a player would just casually sneak out of Germany on a private jet for an obviously mad party.

It is Kyle W@nker though. The only premier league player ever who has to pay women to be with him.

Imagine thinking SHU or Arsenal are helping anyone's mental health.

Going by the Twitter comments, City need to get 3 points deducted
I actually agree. In these sort of situations, especially when it isn't the first time, punish the club and they will then make fecking sure their players behave themselves. At the minute the player will get a fine, so what.
