Coronavirus in football

Maybe he tested negative?
The man City game was postponed for fear of outbreak and maybe the negative results were too early to pick up positives yet here the PL are letting a player play who spent all Xmas day in a house with 2 known positive tests.

It's hypocritical.

@UncleBob and I made this point earlier.

How can the PL not call this game of now? How many people have those 2 spurs players infected since and its not picked up?

One rule for City one rule for everyone else

Youd think everyone in the house that day would have to isolate
Nope. Its the same principle as a teammate testing positive. A whole squad doesnt isolate because of it.
The idiot. Especially aftet Joses attack on the league about cancelling games

So why was the man City game postponed?

Why is there no fear of an outbreak here?

What constitutes a fear of an outbreak to get a game postponed?

Xmas day was more than a week ago. They've been tested a few times since.

Banning the players for the breach would be fair but there's no need to call the game off.

Because there were signs of an outbreak with a clutch of positive results and they didnt know how far it went.
Its why the game were postponed after the second round of tests and not when Jesus and Walker tested positive.

What is the signs though? Genuinely asking, I may have missed the leagues reasoning for the game being postponed.

How may positives?

I think there's simply lack of transparency but that's on the league how they communicate their decisions when they don't even allow City to say which players tested positive.

Wasnt it 5 more out of nowhere for them? It pointed to it being rife through their bubble and the fear of false negatives being prevalent due to the incubation period.
Imo we either go by the test results or we dont. Thats how the world works these days.
Its either that or the same outbreak principle applies. How can we suddenly trust any negative result from close contacts when they couldn't 5 days ago? .

Burnley vs Fulham called off because covid outbreak in Fulham's squad still not contained.
At what point to the league start abandoning games?

Similar situation to spurs. Players breaking covid rules attending a party

You're protected by the football bubble when you're doing your job (training, traveling, playing etc). These idiots are breaching government rules in a non-football setting. There's no way Reguilon should be in the squad today when there are pics of him breaching government rules and he's literally touching a covid positive person in those pics.

Tbf they've probably tested Reguilon and he's come back negative

Have to start making it stricter and not just postponing games, it's getting ridiculous.
People can catch it easily enough through no fault of their own, but if a player gets it through breaking the rules and infects his teammates in the process by then going into training, then the club should be punished for not controlling their players. That player should be banned as well for putting peoples lives at risk.

And man City tested all their players....

Why are one set of negatives ok and another not?

And again, cancelling the city game was the right choice, as is Fulham, but postponement isn't imo

Man City are playing tomorrow, so clearly both sets of negatives are treated equally? The reason their last game got postponed was because test results weren't back yet.

At what point do clubs start serious punishing players for these ridiculous breaches?

I reckon it's coming now. feck giving these people priority access to testing if they're just using that as an excuse to party freely

have a big party that breaches Covid rules? Better take a group photo! Seriously, the stupidity is astounding.

Lamela is such a cnut so not surprising. Genuinely has the most punchable face in world football. As for the others, well they're cnuts too.

Why is everyone taking incriminating pictures at these gatherings :wenger::lol:

Isn’t it a way for the hanger ons to make a quick bit of cash by selling their pictures to the likes of the Mail?

Think it is more that people are that used to posting pictures online. That they just forgot that in this instance it isn't a great idea.

Not surprising, what is surprising is the amount of people who think these large outbreaks at football clubs is ‘bad luck’ and unavoidable. It isn’t.
A few positives tests are understandable but when it starts affecting half a dozen or more it is because players and staff are breaking rules and protocols are not being followed. Footballers, especially PL players do not have conditions that should cause large outbreaks. They have track and trace, they train and play outside only a handful of times a week. Most of them do not live together. Their job does not require them to mix with random members of the public.

The PL need to start getting tougher with this especially when evidence like these photos is coming out. Needs to start being punishment for some of these arrogant and disobedient players and the clubs for failing to control them.

Players should be fined and banned and clubs should have to forfeit matches if they’re postponed due to these things.

Lanzini also played last night so what’s the punishment for putting our players at risk too?

That's the problem I was talking about earlier. Matches don't spread COVID. It's the players who are very irresponsible in their own life off the pitch. It's like they think they won't get infected!

Was the party picture taken on Christmas Day? I thought up to 3 families from different households could mix.

Even so that looks like more than 3 households.

That’s wasn’t allowed anyway. Unless it was with an already formed bubble and you can’t form multiple bubbles anyway. These lot all live down south so they were in tier 4.

Yes London was in tier 4 and so no mixing with other households. I've just looked at a map showing covid tiers from that date. Even if the party was in a tier 3 category it would involve travelling from a tier 4 area. Again a breach of covid regulations.
