Solskjaer does that in virtually every game. His subs decisions are the most defensive of any Utd manager ever. Pro Solskjaer fans would have slaughtered Mourinho and Van Gaal for doing anything similar to what he did today and does on numerous occasions.

Ive been Ole In but these subs were retarded.

Why do people just lie and make things up because they dislike Ole. Christ.

Really bad performance. That Milan team is nothing special.

But deny us space on the counter and we can look average in any game.

It wasn't difficult to see a struggle when the line up was announced. We are down to the bones attacking wise and it showed. We struggled to find any cohesion in their third of the pitch

Milan on the other hand were quite impressive. Pressed very well and were quite tidy on the ball.

Kind of hesitant to come on here with the expected complete meltdown, but the Cafe is always gonna Cafe.

People will talk about Milan missing players but we also had Pogba, Rashford, Shaw, Cavani & De Gea missing. Obviously we are a much stronger side with those players available. I'm still quite confident we get a result there next week

Delighted for Amad

Fair result. Milan played the better football, although we should have been coasting but for appalling misses by Maguire and James. Brilliant goal by Amad, but poor from Henderson and whoever should have been marking Kjaer at the end. At least we know we have to get either a win or a high scoring draw next week, so no attempts at playing for a goalless draw.

id rather we pushed for this trophy to be honest
We’ll finish 2nd or 3rd
Not if we drop points v West Ham. We are straight back into it and the games doesnt stop. Winning EL means mid week games from now until the end of the season. Our squad isnt there for that in this season of all seasons

“We sat too deep”, says manager who ended the game with Bruno on the bench and Williams, Bailly, Maguire, Telles, Shaw, Matic and Fred on the pitch.

to be fair, taking Bruno off was the right call for me. We’re a team with its full front 3 injuries as well as our starting Mf, the last thing you want is a Bruno injury.

The only positive in a score draw at home is Ole can’t set us up for a 0-0 in the return leg.

Agree. It's not like it was the last minute of the second leg and we could have put the game to bed with a second goal. I worry for Utd if Ole is the manager without some experience and quality in his coaching staff...

Poor performance generally. Bailly and McTominay our best players, except for that perfect Bruno/Diallo goal. We really seem to be running on fumes lately, except for the City game. Hard to agree with Ole's subs decisions this time (except for bringing on Diallo, though I was nonplussed why Martial was the one brought off - he'd played a good deal better than Greenwood, it seemed to me).

By that logic bruno shouldn't have started.

You forget that by keeping bruno and james on the field milan are forced to keep 4 players behind. Once they were taken off milan could move further into our half without any threat of a counter.

I really don't agree with that - I thought McTominay was arguably our best player in the first half, primarily because he did very well with accurate forward passes.

McTominay on his own had his moments, but as a unit, we were terrible at receiving the ball from deep and progressing up the pitch. Milan deserves credit for not allowing us to do it, but it has been something that has plagued us many times this season when the opposition merely hints at a press.

Diallo scored, Maguire and James missed the empty net, Henderson made a big mistake.

Bruno assist pass a la Paul Scholes. More as a nr.8 than 10. In the area of the pitch when he delivered that though passes. Instead of one CF. If he have two CF to feed and pass them. It will be easier for the nr.8.

Without Pogba. Bruno has to drop deep. If Pogba stay long. If not. A top quality nr.8 is needed. Keane was nr.6 and Scholes was nr.8. So that is one of the way to open up tight defend. Beside other way of through passes.

I just saw a video clip of Scholes with all those amazing passes, special trough passes. Right now. Include Bruno. No one is at Scholes level.

World class and top of the mountain.

I disagree about the logic. Martial was injured at half time, you can’t let Bruno get injured, we’ve all seen what happens when he doesn’t play and the league is a bigger priority, I’d also take the FA cup over it.

This team could be really good if it eradicated simple, basic footballing mistakes.

we’ll pick up enough points
Those teams will drop off soon enough, but the team needs to feel like they can win some thing, no surprise taht as soon as the prem went out of reach the whole team became deflated

I don’t think the substitutions/change in formation helped Milan. We were sitting deeper and deeper anyway. They sure as shit didn’t help us though. So what was the point, exactly?

Overall a fairly shit performance by us. Milan fully deserved the draw. The result isn’t terrible. We need to win the return leg, which we’re well capable of doing. We’ll need to play a lot better though.

Yet another shambolic performance. Anyone surprised really?
After beating the runaway league leaders? Yeah slightly surprised we were that shit funnily enough.

Heres the thing, i dont think theyre that deflated after tonight. It honestly looks as if we werent up for it. Its a punishment for going out of CL

The weakness of the squad on show tonight. Laughably some were comparing us to City’s squad. We were struggling for attacking options apart from young players.
Yes our fans weirdly overrate our players. Trust me some of them struggle to do the basics.

Fecking hell.

Obviously such a frustrating way to end the game. Great to see Amad score and will do him the world of good.

I do think we beat Milan away but making hard work of it as usual seems to be our way at the moment?

He had 5 clean sheets in a row before this game ?
I didn’t mean it literal as in one game and then not the next, statistically every other game.

without thinking too hard, he’s let in soft goals against Sheffield United, AC Milan, Liverpool, Instanbul and I’m sure there is more

Are you not getting fed up with the football at show? It's actually painful for me watching us under Ole...the football is pure crap in all honestly.

Ole's miss-management of going hard into every competitions, instead of prioritizing, is starting to show. Players fitness and performance are starting to drop. Have been drumming this, but some folks just couldn't understand. Although understandably, us here are all just fans. But how Ole couldn't see this, is telling.

It’s a European throphy with good teams left in it
Any chance for our team to taste what it’s like to win something should be taken

its the absolutely crap midfield that makes us sluggish
Good at keeping the ball out but in a team that normally has 60% of the ball Fred matic mctom are just not the answer

Unmatchable.

Its not me arguing it though, it just looks that way to me with team selection and subs.
Plus we arent even out yet anyway. This could all be a bit hysterical this time next week

Not overly bothered to be honest! Europa does nothing for me and will kill our league and FA Cup chances if we keep progressing! Play the kids in Milan
