EL D Europa League Round of 16 1st Leg

Manchester United 1:1 AC Milan

Post-match discussion

I disagree about the logic. Martial was injured at half time, you can’t let Bruno get injured, we’ve all seen what happens when he doesn’t play and the league is a bigger priority, I’d also take the FA cup over it.

This team could be really good if it eradicated simple, basic footballing mistakes.
This team could be really good if we had a decent midfield, strikers that can either hold the ball up or score, preferably both, and a defence that is capable of not conceding at corners. That last part is worrying considering we have West Ham next in the league.

That's 4 shite performances out of the last 5 games. Negative/gutless football once again. You'd of thought we were playing prime 90's Milan the way we set up. Yes I know we had injuries but so did they, and they gave alot better account of themselves than we did. Can anyone honestly say Milan didn't deserve something out of the game? A special mention must also go to captain dunderhead on another 80 million pound performance.

Its not me arguing it though, it just looks that way to me with team selection and subs.
Plus we arent even out yet anyway. This could all be a bit hysterical this time next week
True, we normally do better away, will need a good performance, can’t bluff our way past this team

Are you not getting fed up with the football at show? It's actually painful for me watching us under Ole...the football is pure crap in all honestly.

I just posted about this in another thread. We’ve been absolutely shit in every second game (perhaps more?) we’ve played so far this year. It’s really not good enough. We’ll win feck all (and won’t get CL football) if this keeps up. Big test for Ole now. If he can’t steer us to top four from here he has to go.

So if we had a whole new team haha not saying you’re wrong by the way

It was a really poor performance but I still think we can get through, we made Milan look much better than they actually are. This is going to be tough run of games, was more confident about City game than games against West Ham and Milan.

After beating the runaway league leaders? Yeah slightly surprised we were that shit funnily enough.
Oh come on. Yeah we beat City but on another day they could have rinsed us.
They got right back on track by beating Southampton 5-2.
We looked like we were hungover tonight.
SAF's teams were famous for scoring late.
This lot are becoming famous for conceding late.

I'm with you on this.

It pains me and actually has a really negative effect on my mood at this stage.

I can accept drawing a game against Milan (or any other team for that matter) but not like this. We can't string two passes together. It's unwatchable stuff at times

The worst thing about this is Milan also had a correct disallowed goal due to a handball that didn't exist.

I just can't really bring myself to react that strongly to that shite really. 1-1 was a fair result, if anything it flattered us, but then we did also miss two sitters.

Overall we were very poor, never got out of first gear, sat back and invited pressure and got stung.

Also Henderson should have easily saved that header, dreadful bit of keeping.

Sort of my point?

I couldn't care less if Ole is the manager or not. For me the biggest concern is the standard of our performances. We were second best again tonight, we continue to start games in a slow lethargic manner. We just look short in terms of quality which is some achievement considering the outlay from the past few years. Very poor

I couldn't care less about AC Milan mate

We will need a striker or two available next week. Is that a controversial comment?

My point is we had a much better squad today than the opposition, we should be beating them kind of teams easily, regardless of 1 or 2 injuries here or there.

Ugh, that away goal is always a kick in the teeth.
On the plus side we are generally a lot better away from home this season so that's good.

I'm very pleased to see a certain young player's first goal :D

Our defence definitely needs a little look at in the summer but who would we look at?

Not exactly a disaster, but not a great result or performance, AC Milan are no mugs they are 2nd in serie A after all and we are both struggling with injuries somewhat.

In all honesty I dont really care about the Europa league, i wont be losing any sleep over it if we do get knocked out, just a back door into the champions league.

It is getting to the point where i am not really looking forward to watching us. Anyone else like this?

I still watch every game, just not expecting much though.

we weren't very good, Milan more than deserved the draw, they looked as if they knew how to play football, had a plan, whilst we just gave the ball away most of the time. Martial really needs to learn how to play as a striker, he is poor in so many aspects, the ball seems to bounce away from him, he simply doesn't offer enough and doesn't put in enough effort.

I've said it before but this team is honestly just a bunch of game-raising cnuts.

They always turn it up against the big teams when the odds are against them and just default to playing well below their opponent's level if they're playing against a 'lesser' opponent or in a tournament they don't care about.

I'm often looking forward to it then it kicks off and realise it's going to be another one of these performances.

Yea same.

Its good when we are up for it, but that is only one every three or four games now.

Can't understand why James chose his left foot for the tap in. Greenwoods pass coming in from the right. Obvious to use his right in my world.
Not critisizing Henderson for their goal but I get a vision of Dave tipping it over the bar.

Same for me. Was really looking forward to the game today. A game against a team like Milan always will. But then you get performances like that. Uninspired, boring, and frustratingly bad football from us

I think its fair to criticise Henderson for their goal, he got enough on it to think he should have done better. I hate to say it as its such a typical thing to say in this sort of discussion, but I do think De Gea saves that, those are his bread and butter, right at him, he deals with those nearly every time.

Once again we were shit at home. I am more confident of us winning in the San Siro than I was of us winning today. It's amazing how consistently awful we've been at OT.

More or less... I was trying to be kind! I actually think that our goalies are okay and our usual back 4 is pretty good, Shaw is obviously awesome. After that is gets messier. Apart from Bruno and Diallo who has just earned himself hero status after that goal.

Sports psychologists will be writing theses about this season for years. The way that home and away form has swapped for so many clubs, without crowds, is fascinating.

I feel I did after the Everton game. Completely fecked off because it was definitely an avoidable result that we brought on ourselves. Why do they insist on playing it out from the back when the opponent are pressing really high and forcing mistakes? Just hoof the fecker upfield and bypass half their team. But no, keeper passes it to a defender who has someone bearing down on him who then does the same to another player and in the end either lose possession or concede a corner or a throw in. They got away with against Citeh but not tonight. They only have themselves to blame.

During our “great run” we went on it was obviously coming that we would throw away games late on. We’re going to disappoint again this season. We should get top 4 so let’s see who we can buy.

Not a great performance but was never going to be easy with the injuries we have at the moment. Hopefully the Martial one isn't too bad.

If we can get a couple of players back we'll finish them off next week.
Milan are probably thinking the same!

AC Milan is a big team though?
